DH fascinating over my tablets

I have an inner ear infection, DH reckons he does too - which ironically came on after I told him my symptoms. I went to GP Wednesday and have been given antibiotics. Ever since, DH has been sniffing around my tablets, keeps asking to share them but I’ve told him I need them all as I have to finish the course! Last night I went to take my dose and they were missing - I found them in a shoe (accidentally as dog just happened to pick that shoe up to carry around). DH reckons he doesn’t know how they got there. This morning I woke up with a bad stomach, DH says it’s the tablets causing it and I should stop taking them - he basically just wants to get his hands on them. Lunch time they were missing again (found in a random cupboard). AIBU to be furious at his behaviour?? He did this last time with my sinus spray.

His mother, not mine

Oh come on, you know this is seriously weird

Had he taken any tablets?

What did you say to him?

Your thread has reminded me of one of the distressing ones from a few years ago where the OP's partner used to steal her medication - for a serious condition- because he had a drugs habit. He left her in pain and didn't care.

I would find your H's behaviour weird and extremely selfish. He obviously doesn't care about your health and wellbeing.

Edited

I remember that one!

Lotsofsnacks · 06/06/2025 19:14

Anyone else worried the dog could have eaten the antibiotics?!!

OP if you knew about his tablet obsession, why didn’t you hide them in your car, or somewhere he can’t get at them. Are any still missing or have you managed to take the full course?

He’s got ocd or health anxiety, or both!! I can’t believe how casual you announced that he steals beans, like it’s normal?!

wwyd2021medicine · 06/06/2025 19:32

DD reckons he's a doomsday prepper as those are probably 2 of the most useful things

CrushingOnRubies · 06/06/2025 19:32

don’t tell him that people who don’t have a spleen are prescribed prophylactic antibiotics for life.

this is one of the most bizarre things I’ve heard on mumsnet.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 06/06/2025 19:36

Your husband sounds like a very, VERY strange man. You are clearly bothered by the hiding of your antibiotics, but seem oddly unbothered by his weirdness. I find it hard to believe this is real tbh.

If my partner stole off of me or was moving my things and then gaslighting me into thinking I was going mad, then I would absolutely dump him.

I guess I would want to see if he has as mental health condition like OCD as op said he was otherwise lovely.

I hear you though, I have a low tolerance for lying or untrustworthy behavior.

Yes, bakes beans

hes lovely otherwise - it’s just this bloody obsession he has that drives me mad

Is he called Jack?

JohnTheRevelator · 06/06/2025 19:46

How odd. I had an ex who used to do something similar. I take 2 tablets for hypertension and he frequently asked if he could take them! Of course I said no way. It was very strange because this was the same man who refused point blank to take paracetamol when he had a headache, saying he didn't want to poison his body then sat drinking 4 cans of extra strength lager

proximalhumerous · 06/06/2025 21:42

Is this like a weird phobia (trypophobia, for example) but in reverse?

I can't believe he does things that are as extreme as this, yet in all other respects behaves normally.

MyRootinTootinBaby · 07/06/2025 19:05

Hide them from him. This is so very bizzare. Have you not asked him why he’s moving them or why he’s obsessed with them?
