DH fascinating over my tablets

NotSoSlimShadee · 06/06/2025 14:37

I have an inner ear infection, DH reckons he does too - which ironically came on after I told him my symptoms. I went to GP Wednesday and have been given antibiotics. Ever since, DH has been sniffing around my tablets, keeps asking to share them but I’ve told him I need them all as I have to finish the course! Last night I went to take my dose and they were missing - I found them in a shoe (accidentally as dog just happened to pick that shoe up to carry around). DH reckons he doesn’t know how they got there. This morning I woke up with a bad stomach, DH says it’s the tablets causing it and I should stop taking them - he basically just wants to get his hands on them. Lunch time they were missing again (found in a random cupboard). AIBU to be furious at his behaviour?? He did this last time with my sinus spray.

Sounds like he's preparing for a zombie apocalypse and all will be fine because he's stashed away enough antibiotics and baked beans 🤯

And hopefully lots of toilet roll and air freshener

Todayisaday · 06/06/2025 16:07

This is really odd. Is he usually weird?

Username532687 · 06/06/2025 16:08

My husband has always been like this too. Whenever we get the flu/a cold, all the relevant medicines I purchased go missing from the shared cupboard. He grabs whole packets of cough sweets, paracetamol, vitamin c drinks and locks then in his personal cupboard where I can't access them. It's annoying because I've prepared ahead and was happy to share, but instead I get nothing when I actually need them.

Also, when I had a blocked ear for several months and finally had it syringed, he was excited to go and get his own ears syringed even though he could hear fine. The nurse told him his ears were fine after examining them, but put him on the scales and told him he was overweight which upset him.

I did that once.

I'm sorry I shouldn't have suggested dumping - I missed one of your posts. If this is some type of ocd thing I would try and address that or find the root of the problem.

MissDoubleU · 06/06/2025 16:08

So your husband is tampering with and hiding your prescribed medication? Alongside this he obsessively wants non prescribed medications for himself - to the detriment of your own health?

I think you need to sit him down and have a serious discussion about why this extremely worrying behaviour exists. Failing that, make an appointment together for the doctors to discuss why they refuse to prescribe him any more and what the history is surrounding this, as well as noting that his issues go so deeply as to actively sabotage your own medical needs.

Cucy · 06/06/2025 16:09

NotSoSlimShadee · 06/06/2025 15:01

Dr won’t prescribe him anymore antibiotics apparently

This is a massive red flag!!

I thought he was just jealous that you’re getting some attention but if the doctor won’t prescribe him antibiotics then he’s obviously got much bigger issues.

Does he have an addiction to medication or does he just like to steal things?

FancyAnxiety · 06/06/2025 16:10

WTF did I just read.

Dors he know about antibiotic resistance?!?! No one should be taking them so casually.

If my partner stole off of me or was moving my things and then gaslighting me into thinking I was going mad, then I would absolutely dump him.

This is weird and awful!

DaisyChain505 · 06/06/2025 16:12

Really bizarre. Does he steal the tablets/beans to use them or just to keep?

And where does he keep them? Does he come home from his mums and just pop it straight into the kitchen cupboard or does he scurry off to bury them in the garden?

Christ alive, what a selfish man.
Well two can play at that game, you need a lockable personal cupboard, too.
What is it with these bloody men?!

butterpuffed · 06/06/2025 16:13

When he goes to his mum's to nick the beans , tell him to have a search round for some antibiotics.

Lavenderfarmcottage · 06/06/2025 16:13

Sounds like he has some sort of anxiety and wants to hoard them. Tell him to instead watch YouTube videos on growing his own penicillin, sometimes it’s easier to just redirect their craziness.

Renamed · 06/06/2025 16:15

Who in god’s name are these men who won’t even let their partners have their own ILLNESSES or healthcare? I wish they’d all just die of an infected paper cut

ilovesushi · 06/06/2025 16:15

That is not normal. Is it not clicking with him that by taking your prescribed medication for an actual illness that he is putting your health at risk. What is going on with him? Why on earth is he doing this?

AutumnLover1989 · 06/06/2025 16:15

That's really abusive behaviour 😞😮

JaneJeffer · 06/06/2025 16:16

Can you swap them for arsenic tablets?

CuddlesKovinsky · 06/06/2025 16:17

Just out of curiosity, are you on the contraceptive pill...? 😱

Wait? What the actual fuck? Why would you stay with someone who is as mad as a box of frogs?

I've been here since back when it t'were all fields and I have read plenty of batshittery bollocks, but this is a new low!

I think I need to lie down in a darkened room.

BobbyBiscuits · 06/06/2025 16:18

How utterly bizarre? Why on earth can't he present himself to a doctor and then if he has the symptoms he'll get his own.
They're not like pain pills where you can just pop one as and when. You need the whole course and to not take it can make you resistant to them in future.
Does he have a phobia of doctors?

There once was a man, who for kicks
Stole his wife's antibiotics
When she said he was mean
He nicked all her beans
And pretended to be very sick

😂😂😂

He’s obsessed with antibiotics and I’m pretty sure he hoards them. Same with beans. His mother is forever complaining of beans going missing from her cupboards

The initial post was weird enough as it was, before this batshit update.

Steals beans from his Mum to hoard them?

Hide them in a Tampax box or in a sock , he sounds creepy.
