My husband was like that except he didn't turn it on me or accuse of nagging but he just didn't see it as being a problem. I hate being late, its rude and disrespectful and it'd mean I was in bad humour before we even got to whatever we were attending while it didnt bother him. He'd never ever be late for his hobby which ironically is entirely time sensitive (motorsport). I decided a few years ago when we were going to a first communion that I was not going to be late, nor was I going to 'nag', encourage him to hurry, make sure everything he needed was sorted the night before etc, I got up in time, got ready and asked if he was ready because it was time to leave, we'd a two hour drive ahead so needed to go, he wasn't even out of bed so I just said 'see you later' and left. I went to the communion and anyone who asked where he was got told the last place I seen him was bed a few hours earlier. There was no argument when I got home because he knew I'd reached the limit of what I'd accept, he's improved considerably since then but I have left him behind twice since, one cinema trip and one dinner.

I love this, I’ve often thought about just leaving him to it and going somewhere by myself, but worried it would just cause even more tension. After hearing that your husband was quite remorseful when you did it, made me think of it in a different light and I bet actually, my boyfriend would also be really humbled and a bit embarrassed if I did that…so maybe I should give it a go next time!

A lot of men think they are entitled to be angry...they may shout, rage, lash out and tear people down because they feel like it.
They are rarely held truly accountable for their behaviour.

ChesterDrawz · 28/05/2025 11:07

Someone should start a similar thread about black people, or gays, or the Irish, or whatever.

Gettingbysomehow · 28/05/2025 11:10

There isn't enough room on this thread for me to start. The only man I'm happy with is my DS because I brought him up properly and he is not a selfish idiot.

The way they* walk into a room expecting me to instantly stop doing whatever I’m doing to pay attention to their communication. The huffy sigh when I don’t. Or the huffy sigh when they realise I have my headphones on. The grump when I glare.

  • DH

Mine does this.

He starts talking at me without actually looking to see what I’m doing and gets annoyed when I don’t hear him or have him repeat himself because I didn’t hear him over the dishwasher, the dryer, the kids making noise, and me cooking, yet if I talk to him I have to be looking at him otherwise he can’t hear me.

If I’m sitting down for a meal, he has to immediately tell me something that I have zero interest in and he knows I don’t. I have told him so. I do not care what stupid tripe has left Trump’s lips. I know it’s stupid, hence I don’t listen to him or get riled up by what he says. I don’t care about football, cricket, or hockey. I’d happily not hear about any of them ever again. I do not get the same level of polite attention I give when I speak about my interests even when it takes a minute. I barely get questions while I ask questions about his.

All those have men in them.

99victoria · 28/05/2025 11:24

Yeh, the sex thing
Sometimes I feel a bit sorry for them - it must be pretty awful to be so totally controlled by such a small part of your body.
Think about every film/tv programme you've ever seen that involves some kind of deception. They always send a beautiful sexy woman to distract the man and it ALWAYS works. Without fail 😂

ghostyslovesheets · 28/05/2025 11:29

The privilege

the sense of entitlement

the violence

The ugliest vilest old little creeps having the confidence to approach women and think they'd be in with a chance.

Ifpicklesweretickles · 28/05/2025 11:35

StandFirm · 28/05/2025 09:04

The way simple demands for equality are interpreted as us oppressing them.
The whole 'men have lost their way, poor them' because we don't pander to them in the same way any more - and now it's supposed to mean rolling back 60+ years.
Manosphere losers are not men. They're scared little boys who don't understand the meaning of strength (moral and mental).

Scared little boys that choose to ignore all the good stuff they are being taught and follow an unhinged human trafficker pimp and criminal and the mentally challenged hate he preaches

StandFirm · 28/05/2025 11:36

Yep.

This. Imagine the outrage if a man posted a similar thread about women?

Imagine the outrage if women oppressed men the way men have done to women for thousands of years in most spheres.

Well there are women who line up for them, or stay with them

CalicoPusscat · 28/05/2025 11:40

Comments about appearance. Some seem to think they're gods.

A friend called me 'old and ugly' because he knew I was worried about an upcoming birthday. He's over 10 years older than me. Then 'you've got a cracking pair of legs' and 'you'd look great blonder'. I was thinking about highlights but I don't tell him to dye his hair.

Flamingoknees · 28/05/2025 11:40

The total and utter selfishness. That explains all my other points really.

This is argument is as tedious as it is illogical.

You would have a valid point if men were an oppressed group. Or if we weren't living in a society where men have historically held a disproportionate level of power and influence whilst actively seeking to exclude women from positions of power, and still have a disproportionate level of control over resources in both the public and private spheres.

As it stands, you're talking rubbish.

smallglassbottle · 28/05/2025 12:10

I think the way they feel entitled to comment on women, our appearance, weight, behaviour, parking etc. They honestly believe they're here to police us and then further believe we should actually listen to them!

The fact that they're unpredictable and potentially dangerous and we can't always tell who's okay and who we should avoid like the plague.

The endless objectification. It seems they're absolutely confounded by the idea that we're intelligent, sentient beings who have exactly the same internal world, thoughts and opinions that they do and that we're not actually domestic animals or servants.

So a thread about why we hate white people, or straight people, or the English is ok?

So just white men then?

ifeelprettyorange · 28/05/2025 12:20

I’m late 30s and found myself single since divorce a couple of years ago. And the amount of men who expect a woman to be their emotional/financial/sexual helper whilst offering very little in return is staggering.

Also the men who put things on dating profiles like:

”Have a job, have my shit together” (Wow! Well done you!)

or my pet peeve

”Dont want drama or crazy women”. absolute sign that you are the man who will gaslight/lie/manipulate your partner into becoming dramatic or “crazy”.

Get in the bin.

smallglassbottle · 28/05/2025 12:35

Yes, they always seem to accuse women of being irrational and over emotional when they're the ones who can't control their urges, tempers etc. They seem to be slaves to their egos and sex drives.

SamDeanCas · 28/05/2025 12:36

This gives me a great opportunity to whinge about my builder (having an extension done at the moment).

Although we have a deadline for completion this is looking less and less likely to happen. Why you might ask! Oh because he can’t work full time hours as he has his daughter 50% of the time. He arrives at 9.30 and leaves at 2. Does the school run, clubs etc, what an amazing man he is, father of the year, juggles single parenthood whilst running a business! OH FUCK THE FUCK OFF!!! I know plenty of single parents, myself included who juggle a full time job and looking after children. We aren’t hailed as gods gift to parents, or go around telling everyone how hard it is, or use it as an excuse to do a 4.5 hr day and expect it to be ok. Miss deadlines because ‘I have to pick up my daughter’.

Just pisses me off as he EXPECTS people to make allowances for him, when every single woman I know who’s raising kids more than 50% are expected to just make it work.

ok rant over

Redflagsabounded · 28/05/2025 12:37

Ha, was it my comment on the 'things you've grown out of' thread.

Specifically men: smelly bedroom (omg beer farts and sweats). Most my age are getting moany, grumpy, boring and stick-in-the-mud. Often mediocre sex. Sexism. Racism abounds. Resentment of women being more successful, vibrant, interesting, intelligent than them. Man flu.

Relationships in general: I'm in a stage where I'm happy doing what I want when I want, not having to do anything I don't want. Not having to deal with someone else's family and friends.
