Full Bush or Shaven Haven?

Been on a work training /away day today.
Largely female dominated professional (children’s social care)
As usual in the down time amidst all the doom n gloom of the days agenda me and colleagues get into the really important, off the record team bonding stuff - OLD, step kids, menopause, weightloss jabs, difficult teens , GcSEs, holidays, moaning about the management etc etc .
Two colleagues got into the subject of pubic hair removal (as you do in market town village hall on a Friday afternoon) as one felt strongly that the act of removing pubic hair is deeply anti- feminist. Fair point I guess.

She got lots of push back from the shaven havens, landing strippers, and trim triangle havers. Only one other person said they are au natural but caveated that with not currently in a relationship nor looking.
She went onto suggest that while for young males this is probably a natural expectation in a partner due to socialisation via pornograpgy, any man of ‘our age’ ( 40s/50s) who wouldn’t be averse to a hairless minge is virtually paedophile adjacent!!
I thought that was a bit strong to be honest.
Did get me thinking though.
I’m completely in the shaven haven camp, personally - Much prefer it. I believe I’m still a feminist though.
I go swimming most mornings and in the open changing room it occurred to me that not seen a full bush in years.

I’m as nature intended.

much healthier that way

But surely If you take that to full it’s conclusion wouldn’t that mean we’d all have hairy pits and legs and (upper lip moustache) as well as not using nasty chemical hair dye to cover grey; no man made toiletries (including deodorant - eww) or make up, and all men with long hair and beards ?

@Lardychops

I think you and your team would love the Vulva Gallery on insta. A varied array of beautifully illustrated vulvas with various hair styles (or not) From pictures sent in by volunteers who wanted to be part of the project

It is wondrously empowering and feminist project breaking down stereotypes and shame and could instigate more open discussion at your next meeting.

They even do merch for that next secret Santa .

Be an Interesting ‘icebreaker’ at next away day maybe lol 😂
But then anything is better than if ‘I was a quality street chocolate which would I be’ I guess…

This is a bit of an eye opener for me then. Some men do some topiary!!

I could never shave, it just seems so uncomfortable and I've seen several women who have regrowth bumps that look awful. I have waxed for years which means even at its fullest it's it's quite neat.

Nothing to do with DH, it's entirely personal preference.

EBearhug · 24/05/2025 23:38

Waxing is painful, though. I just couldn't face it again. (Had my eyebrows waxed today, as it's less painful than threading.) Veet worked well, apart from the time I forgot and got chemical burns. That was definitely not good.

The first ever wax is, l would say, quite uncomfortable rather than painful. Take a couple of paracetamol beforehand and likewise avoid being done just before a period.

But after the first couple of times, the body sort of gets used to it and is nowhere nearly as bad. I would even say negligible. I just go in, hop on the table and she gets on with it with what l would describe as “hairdresser chat”. If you find a good beautician for this, stick with her.

Finally, for the first few occasions avoid sex the same day.
