Full Bush or Shaven Haven?

Lardychops · 24/05/2025 00:07

Been on a work training /away day today.
Largely female dominated professional (children’s social care)
As usual in the down time amidst all the doom n gloom of the days agenda me and colleagues get into the really important, off the record team bonding stuff - OLD, step kids, menopause, weightloss jabs, difficult teens , GcSEs, holidays, moaning about the management etc etc .
Two colleagues got into the subject of pubic hair removal (as you do in market town village hall on a Friday afternoon) as one felt strongly that the act of removing pubic hair is deeply anti- feminist. Fair point I guess.

She got lots of push back from the shaven havens, landing strippers, and trim triangle havers. Only one other person said they are au natural but caveated that with not currently in a relationship nor looking.
She went onto suggest that while for young males this is probably a natural expectation in a partner due to socialisation via pornograpgy, any man of ‘our age’ ( 40s/50s) who wouldn’t be averse to a hairless minge is virtually paedophile adjacent!!
I thought that was a bit strong to be honest.
Did get me thinking though.
I’m completely in the shaven haven camp, personally - Much prefer it. I believe I’m still a feminist though.
I go swimming most mornings and in the open changing room it occurred to me that not seen a full bush in years.

yeh both myself and husband shave under arms. again hygiene reasons. living in middle east in 50 degree heat, hair will just trap sweat and stink.

My armpits smell more if I shave. The hair seems to perform some sort of sweat wicking function.

I don’t care what he does. Have you honestly never discussed your pubic hair? I did just last week when I went out with friends and I’ve asked for waning recommendations 🤷🏼‍♀️. Unclutch your pearls love

Not really no, can’t say I sit around with my friends and discuss pubes 🤷‍♀️

Stand around and waffle shit all day?

Still not making any sense here, lad

dontcomeatme · 24/05/2025 07:28

Full bush here. I trim around the edges to keep her in line, especially if I have appointments that require other people to see the horror.

MadamTeapot · 24/05/2025 07:30

My adult daughters keep all of their body hair. I shave my legs/underarms in the summer, that’s it. I did neaten things a couple of times when I was in my twenties (a long time ago) and insecure about pleasing men…but found it incredibly itchy within hours and felt very uncomfortable with why I was doing it.
I’ve no idea what my 70 year old DH would “prefer” as he’s courteous, also feminist and very definitely fancies me all year round. We both find the modern porn industry repugnant.

You know what your adult daughters have their intimate body hair like? WTAF
this thread is so fucking disturbing

DaisyFayBuchanan · 24/05/2025 07:31

I’m firmly in the no hair camp but rather than waxing I have had laser to remove all of mine.

EleanorReally · 24/05/2025 07:11

i think underarm hair looks empowering

I think men with bare armpits look odd. Bit of a turn off for me.

AngelinaFibres · 24/05/2025 07:45

Light trim here otherwise leave it alone. I have lichen sclerosis down there so the skin tears very easily. Ripping it out with wax would be agony and removal creams would cause a massive flare up. I'm 60 husband is 63. It wouldn't occur to him to manscape and he loves my body just as it is so he'd never expect hairless. I couldn't cope with the itching of regrowth. I've had so much itching and bleeding that steroids control so if my fanny is hairy but not painful I'll take that as a positive

autumn1610 · 24/05/2025 07:46

I really disagree with the pre pubescent argument feel like it’s thrown out there to shame anyone that removes hair. I know I do not look like a bloody child down there..

I do however wax (Brazilian or Hollywood depends how I feel at the time) I am currently single and still wax and not dating…this is purely for me and how I prefer it. I find I get really irritated when I don’t (hello Covid to remind me that yes I still find it uncomfortable, shaving is just irritating and will avoid) I’m a waxer and always will be.

I think looking like a prepubescent is a bit fucked up and it comes from porn. Shaving meant that the genitals were more easily visible and of course it was a bit 'naughty' before it became mainstream.

It also means you can feel EVERYTHING, which I think is better.

Implying we only do these things to benefit men is 👎🏻

SlaveToMyFanny · 24/05/2025 08:00

Is this the natural progression from the male view of young women hanging around in their knickers with their friends and having a pillow fight?

MyOliveHelper · 24/05/2025 08:03

I shave mine because I find it cleaner, especially around periods. I can really smell blood, I can usually smell when someone else is on, too. It isnt a bad smell unless they haven't changed for a while. Smells like a butchers shop.

AnotherNaCha · 24/05/2025 08:03

I agree, I think going hairless is a feminist issue and would question any man who preferred it and also the mindset of the women keeping it up. Totally pre-pubescent looking which I strongly feel is wrong, esp given it was perpetuated in porn for exactly that. Tidying and trimming is totally different… you can remove quite a bit and still feel “everything” pp, but still leave hair on top.

Have you ever gone down on a woman? Or a man without trimmed pubes for that matter.

I think hair gets in the way. It doesnt have to be shaven, but a very short trim helps massively with not getting hair in your mouth and reaching the good bits.

With the amount of body hair my husband has, I sure as hell do! Also, I think everyone who grows armpit hair should shave it at least once a month.

Uuurggh men with shaved pits and legs give me the ick, i find arm pit hair on men sexy as hell.

Full bush, if only that wasn't just a distant memory

I know what you mean! ☺️

LindtCurves · 24/05/2025 08:14

I vary it. Not had sex in ages so it's a personal preference.

I swim and work out, and a full bush bulges underneath the swimsuit or even tight leggings, or there's hair poking out to the sides and can pull, so it's an aesthetic/ comfort thing to get them gone.

If I'm not swimming for a while I may let it grow, but only in the winter as it's too inconvenient in the summer. At some point I just go 'ugh that looks a mess' and shave it off for comfort/ hygiene.

I've never had a partner comment on pubic hair or 'request' anything. Never thought of it as a blue movie thing or 'something for the benefit of men'. Having said that, when I do have sex, I tend to tidy it up neater and moisturise the skin, purely because I don't think random single hairs here and there add to the appeal 😄

My mam and I know how we keep each others public hair ? If its okay for random colleagues to discuss the bush surely it's okay for mother and daughter 😅 we're all very close and no conversation is out of bounds.
After my 1st birth and 3rd degree tear I asked my mam to check my stitches for an infection before I rang the midwife. 1, she birthed me, and 2 we all have the bloody same haha.

I think bush is an exaggeration of what it's like that only seems to be applied to women, not men's public hair. It's to make it sound worse than it is i guess

I have gone down on both men and woman, I agree long hair gets in the way, but I also find fully shaven awful. Its like a man's beard, friction burn city its horrible! It's okay for the first day or so but as the hair grows back it's soo thick it does not feel nice in any way. Like bloody sandpaper.

Ew yes definitely! I don't do periods anymore but I do remember that being very, erm, challenging to stay clean during the day whenever I had a full bush. I do wonder how women with long hair manage that aspect.

They don't. They just let it matt with old, dried blood until they wash at some point.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 24/05/2025 08:19

Mine is full bush, I have autism & adhd and never shave as can’t stand the itchy feeling of the hair growing back, even trimming I hate the feeling of the blunt ends. Leaving it alone is the only way to ensure the hair doesn’t bother me all day.
