Mines matcha - looks nasty

Previously sweet potato fries but they've kinda died out now

I like sweet potato fries and matcha and I like coconut water, truffles, cottage cheese and sourdough bread. I don't like all those cakes which are oreo or Biscoff flavour, I don't enjoy that at all and they are everywhere.

MrsMitford3 · 23/05/2025 22:25

Am late to the game so in response to pp

Hate bubble tea, matcha, salted caramel edited to add I loathe truffle anything with a deep and abiding passion

love aperol, sea salt chocolate and don't tell anyone I like cottage cheese

TheeNotoriousPIG · 23/05/2025 22:25

Mmm... overnight oats is the latest, but I was never on board when avocados came into fashion, or gin was revived. I'm so out of the loop that I haven't tried bubble tea, but it sounds disgusting!

What is the 30 foods diet, @Angrymum22 , and what on earth is an eclectic salad when it's at home?!

In Scotland we call it 'claggy' - sticks to the roof of your mouth type stickiness

In Yorkshire (Dales) its called 'Clarty'.

Anything that is a thick texture that is hard to swallow is called 'plugging'.

SapphOhNo · 23/05/2025 22:27

Agree on the matcha but I love pretty much everything everyone else has said

Mezcal, negronis, aperol spritz..yum. cottage cheese, sourdough,

My big no no is coffee. In any shape or form. A Starbucks or similar is the worst.

Also gin and tonic ...gross.

whitewineandsun · 23/05/2025 21:28

I'm dubious about the love of cottage cheese on social media.

Longley Farm Full Fat FTW!

Strawberrycupcakes · 23/05/2025 22:27

Nduja
It’s a spreadable sausage in a jar.

MrsMillyFluff · 23/05/2025 22:28

Kale in whatever form ( raw/air fried etc) it's bland and inedible. You may as well be a cow munching on grass in a field 😳

Hdiownai · 23/05/2025 22:30

Chia seeds. gritty slimy things in anything they are added to, and chia 'pudding' is just nasty

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 23/05/2025 22:31

Cant stand oats, agree that the texture is disgusting and it sticks to your mouth 🤢🤢

Ughh, bubble tea. I tried it once - it felt like I was drinking frogs spawn.

Rum & raisin ice cream…. Of all the possible delicious flavours…rum & raisin?😩

Wine. Sorry. It tastes like chemicals and makes my mouth feel like I’ve been in the Sahara desert for a week with no water, whilst eating furballs.

My husbands favourite ice fream flavour...

Hdiownai · 23/05/2025 22:32

Cauliflower in things. I tried cauliflower gnocchi the other day (goodness knows why). It tasted of brassica farts and sadness.

Upinthetreetops · 23/05/2025 22:34

Poached eggs and avocado.
Poached eggs are raw 90% of the time I've had them. Any other type of egg is so much better. And avocado tastes like grass, there, I said it!

ChicJoker · 23/05/2025 22:34

Dubai chocolate. And all the other pistachio faff.

ExceedinglyCharacteristic · 23/05/2025 22:34

RedToothBrush · 23/05/2025 21:40

Aperol is amazing. I love alcohol free versions.
And kombucha is fab. If you can get it on tap it's even better (yes really. Like in a pub).

Go away with your dislike of sweet potato fries.

I don't do trends. I do what I like.

Indeed! I genuinely like Aperol, kombucha, kefir, sourdough, wine, rum and raisin icecream — I’m neutral on sweet potato fries and quite like some of the fruity, sharper bubble teas though wouldn’t seek out either, and though I don’t much care for matcha-flavoured things, I quite like the tea itself.

My loathed foods aren’t anything fashionable though. Coconut (horrible texture), poached eggs, banana.

BeardofHagrid · 23/05/2025 22:36

Matcha for sure (heard it tastes like grass 🤢) and bubble tea. Don’t want bits floating in my drink, thanks.

knitnerd90 · 23/05/2025 22:36

I love a bunch of these, including brioche burger buns (best lightly toasted) and sweet potato fries. The trick to sourdough toast is that you can't toast it so it's crunchy all the way through; it needs to be browned on the outside and soft in the centre, and most places aren't paying enough attention to their toast to get it right.

Rum raisin ice cream is popular in the US South, especially with Black people. There's some unusual regional preferences with ice cream flavours. For example, in New England, the Canadian Maritimes, and Jamaica, grape nut ice cream (vanilla custard with grape-nuts breakfast cereal!) is very popular, and I have no idea how that geographic spread happened!

I can't stand matcha either and kale is awful especially as a salad. I don't care how much you massage it with oil. I at least understand it when doing braised greens, though I'd prefer others, but salad? Just use lettuce or rocket or spinach or, well, anything that's actually edible raw.

Truffle...

The fungus kind? I LOATHE them...the smell, the taste the everything.

Yes kale is unpleasant. I once tried making kale 'chips' after reading how amazing they were. which were basically oven dried bits of kale leaf. They tasted terrible and make the kitchen and whole house stink

ChicJoker · 23/05/2025 22:37

Came back to add to the list, pickles in fruit wonders and wotsits, truffle (!!!) and vodka pasta

NotMyRealAccount · 23/05/2025 22:39

Spending the weekend cooking and putting food in boxes and jars so that you can spend the following week eating what my granny would have called "leftovers".

godmum56 · 23/05/2025 22:39

Kale is just cabbage with better PR. Rum raisin icecream has been around for 60 years to my knowledge.

Blueskiesandrainbows · 23/05/2025 22:39

It’s got be sourdough, it’s like eating a concrete sandwich, awful stuff!

And avacados too!

In Scotland we call it 'claggy' - sticks to the roof of your mouth type stickiness

We also call it claggy in SE England, or at least we do in my family. Completely agree that the term applies to most oat things, though.

LuluLemons · 23/05/2025 22:41

Chia pudding... good gawd just no! Why would you want to eat frogspawn?
