Mines matcha - looks nasty

Previously sweet potato fries but they've kinda died out now

Yes I just can't like it and I feel like I should lol. Like I love fermented things, saurkraut, kombucha, sourdough.. but I just can't like kimchi

Have you tried the stuff you get from Asian supermarkets? So different to the ones ive had from Asda etc

Bernadinetta · 23/05/2025 22:09

Edamame 🫛

Sourdough toast. It tastes ok but every time I've had it, I've been worried about breaking my teeth. It's hard!!!

Oh thank god its not just me! Hate the nasty tough impenetrable stuff. I once bought an artisan loaf of sourdough. My best bread knife couldn't make a dent in the crust. Jokingly, DH got his power saw out. Still took ages. My teeth would have had no chance. In the bin.

ReturnoftheBink · 23/05/2025 22:09

Agree a brioche bun for a burger is wrong.

It’s “ divine” - sorry to be the spelling police but I keep seeing “ devine “ everywhere.

Similarly, I die a little every time I read how someone can't or couldn't breath. RIP the word "breathe". 🪦

I love negronis!

I honestly don't understand what the appeal is

YellowOrangePink · 23/05/2025 22:12

ScrambledSmegs · 23/05/2025 21:53

Now I was coming on to say Aperol is far too sweet for me and I love a Campari spritz or a Negroni. I adore bitter foods though, my favourite fruit is grapefruit.

Cottage cheese - I just can't. I know loads of people rave about it at the moment but it looks like baby sick.

I don't mind a grapefruit...

donaldtrumponlyhasonedancemove · 23/05/2025 22:12

Seeing as words have entered the conversation, trends I hate:

Slaw - it's coleslaw?

The main event - I love eating but it's just food, not a presedential inauguration

Pebbles16 · 23/05/2025 22:13

Aperol spritz - hate the taste
Bubble tea - frog spawn with a straw

ilovesushi · 23/05/2025 22:14

Can't think of any recent trends probably because I am blissfully unaware of them, but I remember the trend for wheatgrass shots in the early 2000s. Used to pick one up occasionally on my way into work and it would completely turn my stomach. Not a clue what Kombucha is but it sounds nice. DD persuaded me to have a passionfruit bubble tea and it was very nice!

Choosechoclate · 23/05/2025 22:14

Didn’t know pretending to love food was a thing. I just love what I love with food. I guess I must be setting my own trends.

TheDogsMother · 23/05/2025 22:15

It’s not a particularly recent trend and I’m not especially fussy about food and drink but ……. coconut water 🤢

I’d completely forgotten about wheatgrass shots - they used to be everywhere and I haven’t seen them for sale for years.

Possibly as there are way fewer juice bars now as they’ve all been replaced by bubble tea shops

Aperol spritz

I totally agree. Absolutely vile.

I’m sure matcha must just be powdered wheat grass, as they smell and taste the same. Matcha just a trendier name!
I also remember bubble tea making its appearance around that time, can’t understand the recent come back, it’s still gross!!

RabbitsRock · 23/05/2025 22:19

Not a trend but I really don’t get sea salt chocolate - hard pressed to find anything that tastes so disgusting!

DesparatePragmatist · 23/05/2025 22:19

Overnight oats. Sloppy cold glop.

Wish that salt wasn't now compulsory with caramel.

The words smash and patty should not be allowed anywhere near food that wants me to eat it.

menopausalfart · 23/05/2025 22:20

I love Rishi sweet matcha. My daughter drinks it, so I thought I'd try some. Bloody lovely.
I can't stand bubble tea, though.

Renabrook · 23/05/2025 22:20

I don't pretend to love anything I either love it or hate it

Overtheatlantic · 23/05/2025 22:20

Schnitzel is appearing on menus recently, and not just in Austria. A local restaurant serves it with a fried egg on top along with capers and anchovies.

Username2101 · 23/05/2025 22:21

Biscoff. It's in everything now and I can't stand it.

SheGotOffThePlane · 23/05/2025 22:21

Theunamedcat · 23/05/2025 21:48

Putting oats in everything personally my body doesn't know the difference between oats and gluten and reacts....poorly

But from a taste level they are mouth drying sticky tasting wierd texture strangeness

In Scotland we call it 'claggy' - sticks to the roof of your mouth type stickiness

XWKD · 23/05/2025 22:21

YellowOrangePink · 23/05/2025 22:12

I honestly don't understand what the appeal is

I love Campari, vermouth, and gin individually. Mixed together it feels like the cocktail was created just for me.

I got some premixed from one of the big supermarket chains and it tasted like paracetamol and tonic.

Well you can't be sorry, otherwise you wouldn't have taken the time to rudely correct a complete stranger.

Truffle...

Ugh hate the stuff. Smell’s worse than the arse of the pig nosing it out.
