To expect sellers on Vinted to at least

Check the status of their online sales. Don't put something up for sale and then piss off and not be seen for a week.
Secondly, to reply when you make an offer. I don't send ridiculous offers or be a cheeky fucker but honestly, how hard is it to press the decline button?

But if it's your size clothing then at least you know that you'll probably look like a 'sack of spuds' in it too?!

Not at all. I only buy brands whose sizing (and quality) I know well but someone trying to shoehorn themselves into something which doesn’t fit (usually why they’re selling it) and doesn’t suit them is incredibly off putting. If you look terrible in something, don’t put a photo up of you wearing it or it’s not going to sell. Hardly rocket science.

outdooryone · 23/05/2025 10:45

I agree, Vinted (like ebay and FB marketplace) can have some numpties in there. I have just waited 3 weeks for a new shirt to arrive.
But it is a brand new Thomas Pink £100+ shirt which was clearly taken out packet, tried on and put back into packet badly and was £8 posted.....so worth some patience.

I am waiting for the item I offered on, was accepted but then not sent out to be cancelled tomorrow. I've waited almost a week because its 5 working days, seller has been on vinted according to "last seen" but hasn't created a label and has ignored my brief message asking if she could let me know when she's likely to post it out. I'd rather she didn't accept the offer or cancelled rather than make me wait. I bought the item for my daughter for an upcoming holiday and will now likely have to wait another 4-5 days for a replacement if I can find one.
Just a waste of everyone's time! If you're too busy, maybe just send your items straight to a charity shop or get someone else to sell them on your behalf who will post stuff.

Providing your post was not accurate:

Accepting your offer only means that...

you need to actually PURCHASE the item at the price the seller accepted! They can't do anything.

It's not the seller who is creating the label, it's Vinted system which does it automatically once you have purchased the item.

You are basically one of the people who annoyingly make offers, have offers accepted and then disappear. If you are waiting for something to happen, you will wait for a long time!

If you meant that you bought something after the seller accepted your offer, then this does not apply of course

I don’t always open parcels on the day I receive them. I work full time, have hobbies, sometimes go out in the evening etc. If you’re a SAHM who sits at home all day, then maybe you have time, but lots of people don’t. Personally, I think it should be at least 3 days. The seller doesn’t pay the postage so it’s not as if they are losing anything - why do they need to get the money immediately?

from someone who somehow finds the time to post on MN 😂

No, that's such a poor excuse. Unless you come home completely drunk after going out, it's no bother to take 5mn to check your post, open your parcel, check and confirm. No one is that busy.
Even being lazy and disorganised is not an excuse either. It's there, you open it there and then, confirm before you forget about it.

why do they need to get the money immediately?
you have their item, why is it ok not to give them their money? CF much?

I offered, it was accepted and I bought the item, I waited 6 days and then sent a polite query as to when the item would be posted out. It was showing as 'seen' but the seller hasn't created the postage label or made any attempt to process the order.
Why bother?
I have been buying and selling on Vinted for over a year, I know how it works!

thetrumanshow · 23/05/2025 13:34

There are so many people who make offers and disappear, I often wonder why!

As a seller, I never have to create any postage label, I don't actually do anything apart from advertising the item, and if applicable accept/ reject/ ignore offers. Postage labels are sent automatically when you purchase.

That's why I wasn't sure if you meant you bought or just offered.

I do agree, if you buy, it's very frustrating if the seller does nothing about it, why bother indeed.

MrsSunshine2b · 22/05/2025 22:43

Seriously, it takes about 60 seconds to open a package and check what is inside.

It's not an opportunity to consider if you like it, it's to check for defects that weren't mentioned and check it's as described.

There's no reason to take 3 days to do that.

Totally agree.

LoafofSellotape · 23/05/2025 13:50

A question for sellers- I bought an item and the seller said that I have to generate a QR code or something. I said I was pretty sure SHE had to generate it as she was the seller. She got really pissed off and told me she does this all the time etc etc and knew how Vinted worked etc but couldn't explain to me how to do it. I ended up cancelling the order. What the hell was that all about?!

Completely agree. I work full time in a demanding job, I have a DS , hobbies and a very active social life and yet I still find time in my busy world to open a package, try an outfit on and click ‘all ok’ the same day the package arrives.

3 days ffs 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

LoafofSellotape · 23/05/2025 13:54

I wondered why sellers always give me good feedback for prompt feedback, that's awful to sit on a parcel and not let the seller have their money!

I thought Vinted allows you send days to sell things?
(Not sure why my it’s gone bond)

YouOKHun · 23/05/2025 14:14

eBay is an expensive and time consuming thing but at least eBay private sellers generally get a move on with responding and sending purchases. It’s a shame no one seems to be buying there but eBay has made it too expensive and that’s showing in the asking prices. As a result I’ve started using Vinted but I am finding that quite a lot of sellers upload things then obviously forget about it and others take ages to respond and send. Items are more likely to be unwashed, poorly described and poor photos. I think I’ve probably come to Vinted too late. I’m beginning to think it’s time to give up on online selling and buying.

HundredMilesAnHour · 23/05/2025 14:20

I’ve sold >£3k over the past year and as a seller (once the buyer has paid) I always have to trigger the creation of a postage label or at least trigger a digital QR code to be sent to me. This updates the status and the buyer will see that a ‘postage label has been created’ which means the buyer can no longer cancel the purchase without the seller’s agreement.

A question for sellers- I bought an item and the seller said that I have to generate a QR code or something. I said I was pretty sure SHE had to generate it as she was the seller.

@LoafofSellotape You’re correct. Sounds like your seller was having a numpty moment.

I thought Vinted allows you send days to sell things?

@Gundogday They allow 7 days for sellers to post. Some people only post once a week (assume due to work/personal commitments) and some buyers seem to forget that it’s not Amazon. Last week I posted something within 1 hour of it being bought but it very much depends on timing so it can take me anything from 1 hour to the full 7 days if I’m working long hours / travelling etc. I must admit that I don’t appreciate being chased to post something (I’m usually quick to post but occasionally you get someone pestering you straight after buying - rather than before they buy grr).

thetrumanshow · 23/05/2025 14:38

Ah yes, sorry, I got that wrong. What I meant was that I just click a button and show the code at the local shop when I bring the parcel, the actual label details are created by the system. But I don't think these links are valid forever, so I'd thought that sellers only do this when they are ready to post.

I wasn't even aware that until you create the label the buyer could cancel, I somehow thought that once they'd paid, that was it - until they ask for a refund.

Ooh how do you do this? I have to create my label, and it then gets emailed to me to print. I had 14 today to do it takes quite some time.

Edited as I see you have clarified

It’s not the clothes that have been worn and listed as such that people are saying about, it’s when an item is listed as brand new never worn and then advertised with a photo of it being worn which was the original comment.

This. Also, if a seller tries to put something listed as BNWT and then also repeats in their actual listing along with a photo of them at a festival getting sweaty wearing said item then I wonder about their honesty with any defects etc too.

As you are given the choice by Vinted, I bring everything to the local corner shop and never print anything, just show them the code, and they print the labels in store. I am doing as little as I possibly can, but I only sell things for a few pounds. It's not worth it to spend too much time and effort on these.

Bananajam · 23/05/2025 16:59

Honestly, I don't normally chase but if a label hasn't been generated and you're at 6 days after purchase, I assume the seller isn't likely to send anything out. In my experience, even if it takes a while to post, the label is created which gives the buyer the impression that its in progress.

I know eBay doesn't charge fees but I got fed up with them years before the fees were withdrawn. I do still buy occasionally but generally furniture or items from a eBay shop, never clothing.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 23/05/2025 17:51

Clothing is so much more expensive on Ebay.

I got a brand new Roman top from Vinted which cost me £2.

The same top, second hand, was on Ebay for £18.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 24/05/2025 09:49

As a seller I sell a lot of NWT things and things are new without tags. If I am not 100% sure it hasn’t been worn. I have bought “ new without tags” and it is obvious they have been worn which is annoying.
I generally sell higher priced items so i completely understand the buyer being wary especially if they are spending £100 or so. Ebay used to let buyers return so i sold more stuff on there. However EBay doesn’t seem to get as many customers these days. If I do sell on eBay it is often items that are going abroad.
SOme brands attract immediate offers much lower than asking. When this happens I generally check the buyer who offers prices and I see they have similar brands for sale at about 4 times the price so I decline nicely.
postage I do try and send next day if I can. If I might get any longer I message buyer and let them know.

Update to my previous post re scammed on vinted, despite my submitting evidence and photos to support my case, vinted have found no case to answer,so I've been scammed and lost my money!
Take care , Chinese drop shoppers will scam you,
Disgraceful response from vinted and won't use their site again.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 25/05/2025 12:38

Just received a pair of supposedly "new shoes without tags".

They've clearly been worn. I took some pictures and raised an issue, and got my money back without having to return them.

AmIthatSpringy · 25/05/2025 12:42

Pabbel · 21/05/2025 22:25

Or they take your money but don't send the item.

That can't happen though. They only get the money if the buyer is happy

AmIthatSpringy · 25/05/2025 12:42

Exactly. I don't think some people understand this.

They accept things, then send a message saying they're not happy.

There's nothing a seller can do in that situation. There's no mechanism to refund someone once the item has been accepted.
