To expect sellers on Vinted to at least

Check the status of their online sales. Don't put something up for sale and then piss off and not be seen for a week.
Secondly, to reply when you make an offer. I don't send ridiculous offers or be a cheeky fucker but honestly, how hard is it to press the decline button?

I'm selling stuff for max £4 for the most part
I am not faffing around with a tape measure

Except that's 6.99 with postage , when you take a photo hold a measure up next to it, no big deal. Even if it's a quid, I still want it to be long enough. My favourite sellers are one who lost the lengths of items.

Argh Vinted and their sizing!

People will list a top which has an L label in it (which for most garments is a 16/18) and they choose size 12 because Vinted's sizing has L/12.

Vinted really need to just let people put the size on, without the S M L XL XXL etc. It's really confusing.

Or FFS measure your garments, so people know what size they're going to receive.

This issue does my head in more than any other.

I agree. The sizing is ridiculous. They need to have n/l/xl and 12/14 etc categories separate.

Who cares about ironing? It’s going to be posted to you anyway so it will arrive creased if it wasn’t already!

But having a creased item in the photograph makes it look old and shabby.

Bought item on 10th May, money taken from my bank on thec11th, no item received, no communication or refund received, does anybody know niaoi064@ 163.com ?

This is a Chinese email address

thetrumanshow · 22/05/2025 17:45

My main pet hate with Vinted is how long it takes them to release the funds if the buyer doesn't acknowledge the parcel. It shouldn't take that long once the item has been received. 24h at most, how long does it take to open a package, check it's ok and confirm?

On another thread, one buyer was priding herself on washing the item before deciding if it was ok or not! So if she is damaging it, the seller would lose out? Ridiculous.

Mymblesdaughter · 22/05/2025 17:49

I've had 2 items refunded by Vinted as the seller hasn't sent. When I checked the reviews, it happens a lot with certain sellers. Why don't Vinted ban them?

“BNWT NEVER WORN” but you’re… wearing it… in the photo…. Ohkeeeyyyyy bye

This drives me nuts! I always search by new or new with tags and half the items had young women on nights out wearing the actual dress!

Doggymummar · 22/05/2025 17:52

I bought three items the other day that had been on sale for over a year. Fully expected the seller to have car booted them or something but they turned up.

Pabbel · 22/05/2025 17:54

Chinese email, I never realised China was on Vinted, that e plains a lot ,thanks

Some sellers only keep things for a couple of weeks before getting rid of, but a few of us pack them in a box and store it, and only have a clear-out once in a blue moon because everything is out of the way anyway

Pictures of them wearing shoes...yuk.
Saying shoes are new without tags and never worn but the fact the picture shoes the bottom of the shoes is clearly worn is a bit of a giveaway.

Same as prom dresses - pictures of young girls wearing the dress and clearly done up for their own prom, yet they’re brand new!

Except I don't get that £6.99 and "just hold up a tape measure" is a lot more faff than taking a photo of the item hanging up

And I've sold enough items that I don't think most people care. I don't when I'm buying either

Agree with this

Because the sizing doesn't line up with what most people know

TwistedWonder · 22/05/2025 18:36

LoafofSellotape · 22/05/2025 14:59

Why does that bother you? That's exactly how shops work, buy things at trade and sell for more.

Its false advertising to list an item as brand new never worn when it’s cheeky untrue.

Thats the issue not the fact someone’s making a profit

Ive bought stuff before that’s advertised as unworn when it’s clearly been worn and washed so I have an issue with others lying to their buyers who take them on trust.

HuffleMyPuffle · 22/05/2025 18:37

Vinted ran an ad at one point actively ENCOURAGING sellers to model what they were selling

Most of the comments where like "Ye no don't do that."

Fruitbat99 · 22/05/2025 18:38

Tbf you can literally check when someone was last online, I think its also the buyers responsibility to check. Happened to me when I first went on there, bought a loungefly bag for ridiculously cheap, couldn't understand why no one had bought it. Didn't arrive and no communication, checked their account and they hadn't been online for 4 months. I also don't respond to every offer. No response is the response.

TwistedWonder · 22/05/2025 18:43

thetrumanshow · 22/05/2025 15:03

Every seller selling a "Brand new with / without tag" item that HAS been worn should be reported and frankly, penalised, at least marked down in their ratings.

It's the false advertisement and downright lies the issue.

Absolutely this. I’ve bought an item before and it doesn’t suit or fit so I’ve sold it again often for more than I paid but I agree anyone listing as never worn when it has been should be reported.

GYBE4 · 22/05/2025 01:10

Haha I've had exactly the same thing. "Yes, it's ethical leather."

So it's not leather!

Even shops use terms like ‘vegan leather’ these days. It’s done deliberately to deceive. They know that a certain percentage of the population are thick and won’t understand that it’s not real leather.

Gundogday · 22/05/2025 18:55

Earlier contacted ‘favourite’ people with reduced offers and one has just accepted!

Gundogday · 22/05/2025 18:59

However, what annoys me is that you put in a search for the brand ‘Golden Eagles Embroidered’ T-shirts, and in the results you get ‘Kestrel, ‘Duck’ and ‘pigeon’ brands listed as well. ‘

thetrumanshow · 22/05/2025 13:42

Some shops sell items described as "silk feel". Sellers sometimes just copy the original description from the original shop's website.

And it’d be fine if sellers described the items as silk feel. But they don’t. They say silk, and sometimes go out of the way to put silk in the material box.

SurferRona · 22/05/2025 19:36

I had a mad experience recently. Saw a pair of boots for a slightly higher price than I was prepared to pay, I made a bid, accepted, all good! Then about 4 days later the seller messaged to say, sorry, I’ll have to cancel just found an issue and I checked with a cobbler who says it needs repair… I said, ok, I reckon I’m ok with that, knock off the cost of repair and I’m happy to continue. Nothing. Nowt. Transaction cancelled, she ghosted me….

so I thought oh well, I’ll check eBay then. The exact boots were there! Identical photos etc. No bids, they had been posted to auction when put on Vinted. I made a bid and won at £5 more than my Vinted offer. Checked were there any cobbler identified issues? Nope seller says, none at all. When I called her out she gave me some bollocks sad story about needing to raise funds for her little bubba and she didn’t know hubby had posted the boots on EBay. “Ha ha” Sure love 🙄.

what pissed me off was there is she was clearly hoping for an eBay auction on🔥, with Vinted as back up- and nothing in vinted t&cs to stop sellers doing this or letting me leave the feedback her shady practice deserves!

student26 · 22/05/2025 20:06

What makes me really annoyed is those who sell books and only put a photo of the front cover! I want to see what the book is about, not having to keep leaving the app to Google it! Or a photo from high above so have to zoom in to see blurry text. Or blurry photos. I love buying books but if you only have one photo, I’m not buying.

I'm sick of this

I saw a lovely top and the label was clearly £5

'Just want what I paid'

So by the time I've bought the item, paid fees and postage, that's more £8/9 for an item I could walk to sainsburys on my way to work and buy it for the £5 it originally cost!

Plus I get a receipt and can take it back if I need to for free (apart from my shoe leather but I'd take it on my way to work)

She either took it down or some soul bought it but it happens loads

True, but is it really worth anyone’s time listing and posting something for under £5? You could go and buy a top from Sainsbury’s yourself, but it would potentially cost you time, hassle and petrol if you were to drive.

Most people list on Vinted to make a bit of cash, not to supply a bargain.

Bananajam · 22/05/2025 20:47

I am waiting for the item I offered on, was accepted but then not sent out to be cancelled tomorrow. I've waited almost a week because its 5 working days, seller has been on vinted according to "last seen" but hasn't created a label and has ignored my brief message asking if she could let me know when she's likely to post it out. I'd rather she didn't accept the offer or cancelled rather than make me wait. I bought the item for my daughter for an upcoming holiday and will now likely have to wait another 4-5 days for a replacement if I can find one.
Just a waste of everyone's time! If you're too busy, maybe just send your items straight to a charity shop or get someone else to sell them on your behalf who will post stuff.
