To expect sellers on Vinted to at least

Check the status of their online sales. Don't put something up for sale and then piss off and not be seen for a week.
Secondly, to reply when you make an offer. I don't send ridiculous offers or be a cheeky fucker but honestly, how hard is it to press the decline button?

I don’t always reply to offers (or random questions that can be answered by reading the listings). If I’m happy to sell at that price or it’s close enough to be worth negotiating, fine. But I tend to get loads of offer messages whenever I list something new and it takes loads of time to reply so I do tend to screen a bit.

People are so lazy on vinted (not me obvs lol).

The one pic thing, I sometimes think is a red flag lol. What they trying to hide. Also could sellers have an actual look at the item and check for any stains or fading etc. I often see it and have to ask is that a stain they go oh yeah there’s a small stain, then bloody say so!

The other one for me is please state the size in the description. I know it doesn’t let you choose age 7-8 for example but it would helpful to know when you’ve listed it under age 8 is it age 8 or 7-8.

I also just received something that was meant to be age 6 and it’s bloody age 9, ffs!

Oh yes, the sizing thing really drives me cuckoo. Why on earth don't they list adult women's stuff as the actual sizes that everything is sold in (8/10/12 etc) and kids stuff in the sizes they're sold in (2-3, 3-4 etc)???

You want a pair of PE shorts in 8-9, so you have to tick age 8 and age 9. And then you spend ten hours going through a million listings where it's actually 7-8, or 9-10.

What makes me really annoyed is those who sell books and only put a photo of the front cover! I want to see what the book is about, not having to keep leaving the app to Google it! Or a photo from high above so have to zoom in to see blurry text. Or blurry photos. I love buying books but if you only have one photo, I’m not buying.

I'm a bit bemused by this. Clothes, yes, often won't be on websites any more so you need lots of pictures to judge. But surely you don't just go on Vinted and browse any old random books? I'd have thought it's fair enough to expect people to know what The Gruffalo is about, or guess the content of Teddy Goes on a Picnic, or Google themselves if they want to know!

Well, I like reading, (I buy more books than clothes on Vinted), so I’ll type in an author and when that author comes up, the seller often has a lot of different books for sale, so I then have a browse at what they have. I like to buy a bundle at a time. I won’t buy the book if I don’t know what it’s about. Not childrens books obviously. It’s tedious having to Google each book individually, so I just won’t.

Not give the height of heels on shoes. Some angles look like kitten heels and when I request how high they are they're always much higher them the photo shows!

My main pet hate with Vinted is how long it takes them to release the funds if the buyer doesn't acknowledge the parcel. It shouldn't take that long once the item has been received. 24h at most, how long does it take to open a package, check it's ok and confirm?

On another thread, one buyer was priding herself on washing the item before deciding if it was ok or not! So if she is damaging it, the seller would lose out? Ridiculous.

I don’t always open parcels on the day I receive them. I work full time, have hobbies, sometimes go out in the evening etc. If you’re a SAHM who sits at home all day, then maybe you have time, but lots of people don’t. Personally, I think it should be at least 3 days. The seller doesn’t pay the postage so it’s not as if they are losing anything - why do they need to get the money immediately?

MrsSunshine2b · 22/05/2025 22:24

Ditto to buyers who ask for millions of pictures of a £2 item that you've already got the front and back photographed and on the listing, then offer you £1.

HuffleMyPuffle · 22/05/2025 18:37

Vinted ran an ad at one point actively ENCOURAGING sellers to model what they were selling

Most of the comments where like "Ye no don't do that."

I don’t get this. If I were buying clothing online I would want to have an idea of what the item looks like on. Presumably, if you buy something in a shop, people know that it’s likely to have been tried on by several people?!

Sometimes online retailers don’t show their items on a model and that really puts me off ordering as you’ve just got no idea how the item fits.

MidnightMeltdown · 22/05/2025 22:41

AndImBrit · 22/05/2025 19:00

And it’d be fine if sellers described the items as silk feel. But they don’t. They say silk, and sometimes go out of the way to put silk in the material box.

Unfortunately, lots of people don’t understand the difference. No wonder retailers get away with selling racks of polyester as sky high prices. Jo public is too thick to know the difference 🙈

Seriously, it takes about 60 seconds to open a package and check what is inside.

It's not an opportunity to consider if you like it, it's to check for defects that weren't mentioned and check it's as described.

There's no reason to take 3 days to do that.

ChangeUserName25 · 22/05/2025 22:43

I reply to questions.
I don't reply to offers. If I wanted to sell it for less then I would advertise it for less. I only sell branded items, think a £40 top for £5 generally only worn a couple of times. So don't insult me by offering less.

It really doesn’t. It takes longer than that to open the package without cutting the item if the seller has put a shit load of tape on it. The it needs to examined carefully, preferably in daylight, for marks. I bought something once that was described as new and had marks in it. Put me off ordering again.

Don't be ridiculous. It's not forensics. Cut the tape, open the package, hold up the item, tick everything ok. If finding fault with it requires extensive examination in daylight then clearly there isn't really a fault and you're just trying to get out of paying.

I am waiting for the item I offered on, was accepted but then not sent out to be cancelled tomorrow. I've waited almost a week because its 5 working days, seller has been on vinted according to "last seen" but hasn't created a label and has ignored my brief message asking if she could let me know when she's likely to post it out. I'd rather she didn't accept the offer or cancelled rather than make me wait. I bought the item for my daughter for an upcoming holiday and will now likely have to wait another 4-5 days for a replacement if I can find one.
Just a waste of everyone's time! If you're too busy, maybe just send your items straight to a charity shop or get someone else to sell them on your behalf who will post stuff.

Pro tip- always ask before buying, not after

pimlicopubber · 23/05/2025 03:42

I'll probably get hate for his, but I'm guilty of these and have no plans to change!

I'm a working mother of 2, not an Amazon seller. I'm trying to shift items quickly whilst making a bit of money with minimum effort. I'm not going to spend 10 minutes styling and taking pictures of an item worth 6 GBP (I don't bother selling items worth 5 GBP or less, but most are under 10).

I put a few pictures and hit send. I always select accurate description of condition. All of my items are priced cheaply. If items don't sell quickly, I pass them on to charity.
As a Vinted buyer, I ignore overpriced items and don't even attempt to negotiate. I usually try to put some lower offers if the item is a nice to have rather than must have, but if my offer doesn't get accepted the next day, I assume it's declined and either move on or buy it for the full price.

Whaleandsnail6 · 23/05/2025 06:59

I've had 2 different sellers this week not have the item available anymore...if you no longer have it, update your listing and remove it.

I know I get my money back but its frustrating when I think I have bought something that I wanted, wait for it to be posted and then the day before its due, I get a "sorry hun, just gone to pack and post this and I've given it away..."

I wish there was more consequences on sellers who mess you about than just bad feedback.

I agree I like seeing things on. Sizes vary widely and I can judge better if it will fit me depending on how it looks on the model. It gives you a much better idea of shape that you don’t see on a hanger or mannequin.

CozyCoupe · 23/05/2025 08:30

I like seeing things modelled too! It's second hand clothes, we all know they've been worn anyway. It gives a much better idea of how it fits/hangs then just seeing a picture of it on a hanger.
Genuinely, why don't people like seeing clothes modelled?

It’s not the clothes that have been worn and listed as such that people are saying about, it’s when an item is listed as brand new never worn and then advertised with a photo of it being worn which was the original comment.

So when you go into a clothes shop, how do you ensure that nothing has been tried on? Because putting it on for a photo is the same thing...

Yes I get that but there's quite a lot of people always saying on these Vinted threads that they hate seeing clothes modelled , just take a photo of it hanging up,.and I never understand why!

familyissues12345 · 23/05/2025 10:17

I haven’t used Vinted many times, but recently I’ve sent in an offer and don’t get a response. On both occasions I would have gone to full price, but decided to try and knock a little off, so I would have appreciated the opportunity to go back with a new offer. Just frustrating! However, I guess if I want something, I just need to pay the full price!

I hate seeing the clothes being modelled by people who look terrible in them! I don’t want to see something listed as “never worn” clearly being worn nor do I want to see someone looking like a sack of spuds in it.

But if it's your size clothing then at least you know that you'll probably look like a 'sack of spuds' in it too?!
