To expect sellers on Vinted to at least

Check the status of their online sales. Don't put something up for sale and then piss off and not be seen for a week.
Secondly, to reply when you make an offer. I don't send ridiculous offers or be a cheeky fucker but honestly, how hard is it to press the decline button?

And.say what material it is!!! 😂

Omg yes. I'm in a stage (probably peri related) where I cannot bear feeling restricted in my clothes and I need soft jersey fabrics ... Just say if it's stretchy or cotton!

TwistedWonder · 25/05/2025 13:09

I just had a buyer raise an issue against me because the item didn’t fit her - I mean ffs that’s the chance you take on Vinted buying worn once clothes for less than 1/4 of their original price.

I agreed to a return and I’ll list it again but she’s quibbling about why she shouldn’t have to pay for the postage.

Honestly we’ve all had items that don’t fit well or don’t suit - I just sell them on, I don’t make a drama out of it!

Pabbel · 25/05/2025 13:27

This does happen, I'm the case in point!

If they didn't send the item Vinted won't give them the money. It's not released until the buyer clicks happy.

Cherrysoup · 25/05/2025 13:51

Trying to buy something today and filtered out anything that said less than good, only to go into listings to see the ‘good’ items had holes! How is that in good condition. I sell nothing less than excellent condition, spend ages ensuring there’s no fluff or loose threads.

I’ve gone right off eBay. Why does it charge 50p more for Inpost than Vinted? It’s taken over 6 weeks for something to be returned to me due to lack of postage despite the bloke at the Post Office requesting and me paying more.

Measurements, specifically bags! I am looking for a vintage handbag on Vinted, with the dozen I was interested in only two sellers had given measurements.

The way some of the photos are taken, you can't tell what size they are, if you don't want to faff about with a tape measure, just put a coke bottle at the side of the bag for perspective!

PoppyRoseBucky · 25/05/2025 16:12

I've never had a bad experience on Vinted, as either a buyer or a seller, and I've bought a hell of a lot from there and sold a few items, too.

I accept a lot of things are par for the course with it. Vast majority of people aren't "professionals" using it as a platform to sell their goods-they're just regular people, having a clear out.

If you need something sent by a certain date because you have an event that you need it for-then make the seller aware of that before you buy and ask if they'd be able to send it ASAP (but if you've left it last minute to buy what you need-don't be going to Vinted and crying that it's not going to arrive in time). They have 7 days to send by Vinted rules.

Always check the reviews of the sellers before buying. If the person has form for not sending items in the past- don't be surprised when it happens to you. I don't buy from anyone who has form for that or for sending items not as described.

Understand that people have lives-this isn't Amazon. You cannot expect same-day delivery or one-day delivery.

Don't send lowball offers and expect a response. Some sellers don't even like offers at all so don't be offended if it's not accepted or even declined. Some don't want to get into a bartering session with you.

I won't buy from people who only post one picture of the item and think that's a job well done. If you're only posting one picture, it makes me wonder what you are hiding on the areas of the item you're not showing.

Don't list an item as being X size, and then put in the caption "It's actually a Z size, but fits more like X." I don't care about your opinion of the size-I just want to know what size it was listed as by the store. You can list it as the correct size and then put in the description that you think it's a big/small size Z and would be better for X size-but don't confuse matters by listing it incorrectly. If I'm looking for a UK 10, I don't want UK 12 items to come up.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 25/05/2025 16:26

If I'm looking for a UK 10, I don't want UK 12 items to come up.

This is a massive problem.

I've just looked at a blouse which the seller has listed as an XXL/14

Looking at the label, yes, it's XXL. And XXL means 18/20.

We've had a discussion and I suggested that she edits her listing to say 18. She refused. So it's still there as a 14, although it isn't a UK 14.

This drives me mad! Vinted needs to change this system.

Frugaleer13 · 25/05/2025 16:38

I don’t mind people putting on what size they think they are. Some brands fit small, I don’t want to order a 16 top if it fits like a 14. I would think a fair few of the new stuff advertised is sold because it wasn’t the expected fit for the size

AstonUniversityPotholeDepartment · 25/05/2025 16:38

Yes, I do not want the seller's opinion of what size label it should be, I want the manufacturer's actual size. I always filter by size X for particular brands because I know I'm that size in their clothes. It ruins it when miscategorised items come up.

evtheria · 25/05/2025 16:41

I hate when they list trousers/long dress/long skirt, but only have photos showing the top half of the legs and nothing of the lower… Just take another pic showing the knees-hem!!!

but do you know how many people message asking what the size is!

It's the size on the label, I don't know if you are tall/ short/ fat/ skinny, I can't start guessing how it might end up looking on you, and taking a photo of ME wearing it wouldn't help you.
They still ask though. I refer them back to the label.

But Vinted choices on sizes ARE annoying

TwistedWonder · 25/05/2025 16:49

Agree on Vinted sizing categories being annoying.

Many brands a L is a 14/16 but on Vinted it’s 12/L so I’ve seen many items clearly incorrectly listed as a 12 when it’s an L and far more like a 14

thewashingneverends · 25/05/2025 16:50

I messaged a seller the other day asking if she'd be willing to accept an offer on a Ted Baker jumpsuit as it has been up for sale for TWO years! I didn't suggest an offer, I was just enquiring. She sent me back a photo of the original cost, £179 and I replied saying I appreciate the original cost but since she'd had it for two years, I thought I'd ask and a polite reply would have sufficed. TB went out of business last year it's not worth what she paid X amount of years ago but anyway
She told me she'd rather set it on fire than sell to me 😂😂😂😂
Bit dramatic. Who keeps stuff for two years 🤷🏻‍♀️
Majority of her items have been up for two plus years so she should probably take something away from that 😂

Oh dear. That is why I gave up listing things on Facebook marketplace. I got absolutely fed up of message after message asking me stuff I'd put in the listing!

Yes, but that is their opinion, isn't it?

If they're officially listing the item as being a UK 10 but it's actually a UK 12 (or whatever) it's their opinion that it's a small 12 and would better fit a size 10. They may not be being honest about their own actual size (with themselves) and thus concluding that a size is too small/large for them therefore it means the store is wrong-not that they've simply under/overestimated their size.

It's one thing to have it in the description or even tagline of the item-that they think it's a small/large fit-and would better fit X size, but to officially list as the wrong size is wrong.

Doggymummar · 25/05/2025 16:59

I list by the label, so if it's a 16 I will choose XL/16 or whatever and it will have a picture of the label so people can confirm. I'm not listing anything new on VINTED anymore as it's so problematic and you get less than half what you do in eBay for stuff but I have about 250 items hanging around on their currently. Actually I might use it for the last ditch reduced items that didn't go for a quid on eBay bundle them up at 50p or something before taking them to the clothing bank.

DazedAndConfused321 · 25/05/2025 17:05

I was looking for some cheap handbags as a local charity are asking for them, found a seller with multiple listings of cheap pleather peeling handbags asking for over £5 each. Not just slight peeling, entirely bare handles, sheets of plastic hanging down from the bags. Chuck them in the bin!

It depends. I recently bought some 34 waist m and s jeans for my DH they had a label in for 34 and were sold as such on vinted. Now my DH is a true 34 waist always has been but these jeans strangled him. When I measured them they were quite clearly a 32. So when I relisted I put a photo on of the measurements and advertised as a 32 . What would be the point of re listing as a 34 for someone else to waste their money too

Wtafdidido · 25/05/2025 21:02

Wash the things you are selling or at least make them clean and do not say something is new without tags that has clearly been worn quite a few times. Often see skanky dirty shoes being sold as new without tags!

Doggymummar · 26/05/2025 08:41

Those dirty shoe pictures are usually for the foot frtish people. It will likely say I have more pictures available to get around the censorship. I often get asked if I can send pictures of me wearing them to those types.

I’ve done something similar , and will put something in the blurb. Ie. Size label says ‘34’ but comes up small, so selling as size 32.
