To expect sellers on Vinted to at least

Check the status of their online sales. Don't put something up for sale and then piss off and not be seen for a week.
Secondly, to reply when you make an offer. I don't send ridiculous offers or be a cheeky fucker but honestly, how hard is it to press the decline button?

Yes to ALL of the above, especially Vinted idea of “silk” 🙄 but my bugbear is looking at dresses (size 18-20) and they’ve been pinched in at the waist: either arranged like that on the floor, or pinned in whilst modelled on a slim woman.
I want to see how big the dress is so I know if it might fit! I know I won’t look slim in it!

Sofiewoo · 22/05/2025 08:11

Nah I can’t be bothered replying to every shitty offer I get. If I’m not going to accept it I just ignore it, which is declining by default. Don’t offer a low price and then get annoyed when the seller doesn’t take up time replying to you.

CrystalMighty · 21/05/2025 21:41

And.say what material it is!!! 😂

THIS. And correctly. I feel like I spend my messaging sellers asking for pictures of care tags.

Youagain2025 · 22/05/2025 08:16

I love vinted I cloth my 2 boys for 60-100 a year. I buy in bundles. The annoying thing is when it's just one picture of a folded bundle. You can't see any of the actual items . And the description will say bundle of mixed clothes . So i don't know if that's 20 t shirts and 2 trousers or 10 of each.

Massive bundle of clothes =5 items erm no that's not a massive bundle.

Ita annoying but on the whole it's saved me loads of money clothing the kids.

For got to say. I often see things that were listed a year + ago are they actually still available that one really confuses me.

Yes someone offered me £1.20 for something I was selling for £2. I replied and said for God sake it's 80p. They replied -you don't need to be so rude.

I beg to differ.

If it's 80p and meaningless why not accept then? Goes both ways surely?

Doitrightnow · 22/05/2025 08:30

KidLeopard · 21/05/2025 22:01

On top of this, don't list it as a particular material when it isn't.

Your polyester 'silky satin feel' top is not SILK.

I do find this really annoying. I sent back a cape jacket once because it was described as wool - and I even messaged the seller to check it was wool. When it arrived, it was 100% synthetic! The seller couldn't understand why I wasn't happy.

I agree with you . The person asking could be struggling. And it is rude to reply in that way. The seller can just decline. No need for the comment of its just 80p fgs its gained nothing.

TimeForTeaAndG · 22/05/2025 08:38

Gundogday · 22/05/2025 07:29

Me too. In fact, I presumed people ‘favourite’ items hoping for an offer, so I play the game.

I favourite things as a way to narrow down what I'm thinking of buying and then I can scroll through those items specifically, check which of the sellers has bundles and anything else I might be interested in.

Vinted got too popular and now is flooded with time wasters, it sucks

We need to all revert back to eBay lol

Edited

I've just done this. The last straw was being unable to get into my account because the app kept forgetting my password and then switched to French.

I also ignored stupidly low offers

stealthbanana · 22/05/2025 08:48

I’ve given up selling on Vinted - I just find that too many buyers take the absolute mickey. I always price stuff at max 25% of RRP and anything high st (cos etc) at between £5-10 - if I’m selling something for a fiver I’m simply not going to answer endless questions about the item and/or accept an offer for £2.50 - it’s take it or leave it. I’ve gone back to eBay and actually selling clothes in person now - buyers are more sensible about what to expect when you’re buying second hand clothes.

My theory is that this is for fetish buyers tbh

Most definitely

It’s not the seller’s problem is the buyer is ‘struggling’. Loads of scammers on there try the ‘pleeeeeasse it’s for my sister who’s in hospital/need it for my nan’s funeral’ route. Maybe the seller needs that 80p because she’s struggling herself.

I agree with that to . But there's still no need for rudeness. Just decline

BakedBeansMum · 22/05/2025 09:08

I hate it when you buy something, it arrives and isn’t as described or there’s another problem with it and then when you contact the seller they act like that’s ok just because you paid a low price for it, like you should just accept any old crap because it was cheap. Bought a top from a woman for £2 listed as brand new without tags. When it arrived it had a stain on so I contacted her and she came back saying “it’s legit £2” and then wouldn’t do anything about it. Ummm…. Yep, but with postage and Vinted fees it was more like £5 and I expected a new top not one you couldn’t even be bothered to wash beforehand even if you were pretending it was brand new without tags!

Rtato · 22/05/2025 09:08

amooseymoomum · 22/05/2025 08:00

when you buy something that is marked as very good then when it comes it is bobbly marked and clearly worn I have worked in charity shops and it would clearly have gone in the rag bag
lots of buyers do not think we know what label names are for what company hence charging ridiculous prices for items like George Tu etc they are budget supermarket brands!

Yes this!! I just wasted the postage because someone described their item as very good, but it was covered in bobbles and had a stain on the front! It was satisfactory at best. None of the photos showed this, but no apology at all.

PollyPJ · 22/05/2025 09:10

I'm waiting for a response to some shoes that stink of cheese and are in horrendous condition compared to photos. Message hasn't even been read yet. I'm gutted as they were needed and I was trying to save money

latetothefisting · 22/05/2025 09:11

TimeForTeaAndG · 21/05/2025 22:35

Surely after the postage timeframe the purchase gets reversed and you get your money back? I've only had it happen once to me but it automatically refunded.

Well yeah but people buy things because they want to receive them! Not because they want a 50/50 chance of maybe getting them!

Sometimes people are on a tight time frame- they buy a dress they want to wear to an event in, say, ten days, knowing that even if the seller takes the full 5 days to post it will still get to them in time. But if the seller then doesn't post it its too late for them to buy an alternative.

seasonalexpression · 22/05/2025 09:11

I have suuuuper long legs and was looking for a decent pair of jeans. I found some and asked the seller the inner leg length. Days later and she still hadn’t replied. Item sold. She then messaged me “sorry was busy and now they’ve sold. I have other items for sale you can buy”
no thanks x

yep i favourite things first then go through my list of favourites to make a final choice

on vinted its so annoying when people leave adds up for many months and dont take them down it makes it harder to find stuff. I wish vinted would automictically take them down after 3 months with a prompt to seller saying would you like to renew

also i only low ball offers when a add is more than 2 months old .I think its fine to low ball if its not selling. But i dont message them if they are now happy they can decline and leave it at that

generally i am happy with vinted regardless of the issues it allows me to buy nice clothes for my children. Just wish people would put photos of unfolded clothes, it puts me off.

CozyCoupe · 22/05/2025 09:39

It works both ways with offers though, some of the prices that sellers expect for second hand clothes are absolutely crazy.

Example - I saw a girls Zara dress listed for £10 recently. Good condition but had been worn, probably about £25 new. I offered £6 which I thought was reasonable, as along with postage and fees that would be about £10 total for me. Seller replied to say sorry no I'm holding out for full price. Fine, her prerogative. However, weeks later she still hasn't sold it, it's sitting in my favourites.
If I paid the £10, then along with fees and postage that would bump it up to about £14-15. In the sale, zara kids dresses come down to about that and I can buy it brand new plus have the benefit of being able to return it if it didn't fit. So nope, and I'm clearly not the only one who thinks this!

freakinthespreadsheets · 22/05/2025 09:46

Mine is "just want back what I paid". Why? You didn't bother returning it, so someone else should pay full price for it (plus fees and postage, so more than new) without any of the warranty, protection, etc of buying it themselves?

Totally agree with this.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 22/05/2025 09:56

I hate it when they don't take a picture of the size label and then you buy something listed as 18-24 months and it turns out to be 12-18 months.

HuffleMyPuffle · 22/05/2025 10:02

Yodel... they take forever, Evri are so much faster.Evri are worse here. And you chose the delivery service... if that's all a seller has as an options it's because it's all they can easily get toIf I decline your offer and counter offer, don't offer again at a lower price. That's what haggling is. I don't mind it. I will counter offer above what I'm actually willing to accept because they will either accept at that price, decline entirely or offer nearer what I will accept If you collect your parcel, please accept the order within a reasonable time. Having to wait a few days wondering if you're happy and waiting for my funds isn't kind. This literally doesn't bother me. After 2 days I'll get the funds anyway. I don't think there's anything "unkind" about not clicking accept immediently

AndImBrit · 22/05/2025 10:03

I’m thinking of starting a club of people who understand the pain of trying to buy silk clothes on Vinted - I feel like I’ve found my people on this thread!
