To expect sellers on Vinted to at least

Check the status of their online sales. Don't put something up for sale and then piss off and not be seen for a week.
Secondly, to reply when you make an offer. I don't send ridiculous offers or be a cheeky fucker but honestly, how hard is it to press the decline button?

Oh that winds me up too. The number of people who think cheap satin is silk!

Some shops now describe satin as silk satin. It's really not!

Whaleandsnail6 · 22/05/2025 06:50

I was really after a certain brand of jeans. Found a seller with 2 pairs... One listed as part of a bundle and one listed separately. I bought both and the day before she was due to post, she messaged to say it was only one pair of jeans available and she'd just listed them twice. So the order was cancelled.

Very frustrating. I'm not buying them now.

Sometimes I filter brand new items, so annoying when you see something marked new without tags then go on to read the description that then says worn a couple of times.

Yes, this is my pet peeve too! It's either New, or it's been worn.... It can't be both, which is it people!?!

IrritatedEarthling · 22/05/2025 07:19

On Sunday I accepted an offer on a bundle. The offer was 50% of asking, after the bundle discount and her further offer. I accepted. She has not paid and confirmed the purchase.

Otherwise, low ball offers drive me mad.

Ooh I’ll join in
my latest vinted grumble is that I favourite things to remind me about them then people send me special offer prices and sometimes messages imploring me to buy or suggesting I “act fast as my stuff goes quickly”. Puts me right off! If I wanted to buy I would. If I wanted to make an offer I would!

Oops I'm guilty of this! About to move house though so I'm wanting to get rid of a load of bits 🤣

Gundogday · 22/05/2025 07:29

Me too. In fact, I presumed people ‘favourite’ items hoping for an offer, so I play the game.

LegoLandslide · 22/05/2025 07:32

At least half of the things I've tried to buy this year haven't gone through. I had a phase of sellers just not replying or interacting and an eventual refund.

I should check the reviews more carefully as all of the sellers had recent "item not sent" reviews lost in their overall good rating- they must have been active in the past and gone off the app.

colonialwomanonthewing · 22/05/2025 07:33

I hate it when sellers:

  • Post photos of clothes clearly covered in cat hair
  • Post one photo
  • As mentioned upthread, describe the material as 'lovely silky feeling material'. WHAT IS THE ACTUAL MATERIAL I DON'T CARE HOW IT FEELS
  • Add suggestions for how the item can be worn in the description. I don't need you to suggest what I can wear this top with!
  • Add the brand as 'vintage', 'jeans', 'cute top' or an actual brand that it isn't, they just say in the description that it has the feel of that brand

I hate it when buyers:

  • Ask 'what's the lowest you'd take'
  • Send me a sob story
  • Take the piss - like most sellers, I'm open to reasonable offers but when it's still available for £300 from the retailer, and I've just this minute listed it at £180, messaging going 'hi will u take £65 tx' is hardly going to work
  • Ask if I can send it by a particular date after buying. If you asked before buying I could tell you.
  • Ask when I'm going to send it after buying. I will send it within the allowed time window, I'm not Amazon

This is a particularly niche one but there's a particular strain of male resellers who target brands like APC, BA&SH, and some lower-priced designer stuff and consistently lowball casual women sellers and then relist for a ridiculous price. I know it's not illegal or against the terms of service or anything, but they're nearly always rude and condescending and I hate the thought of them making money off a woman.

MrsJigsaw · 22/05/2025 07:34

I had a small adults t-shirt for sale for £3. Someone offered £2 (said was for her little brother) and I accepted. Then the asked me if I'd relist it under the child's clothes category as apparently it means the insurance cost is less... I just ignored.

I also find it irritating when someone makes an offer which I accept, and then I don't hear from them again!

Bloodylovecheese · 22/05/2025 07:40

Pet peeves

Shoes... I need to see a side on picture to show heel/wedge/flatness.

Clothes laid on a bed or floor... you can never tell how long they are. Hang them up!

Yodel... they take forever, Evri are so much faster.

If I decline your offer and counter offer, don't offer again at a lower price.

If you collect your parcel, please accept the order within a reasonable time. Having to wait a few days wondering if you're happy and waiting for my funds isn't kind.

TwistedWonder · 22/05/2025 07:45

Worst I had was as a dress that cost £119 worn once and I listed for £60 - other seller listed same or similar same brand dress for £80/90

Within minutes someone offered £35 which I declined so they offered £36 then £37 then £38 - ffs!

This is where ignoring lowball offers comes in to play

TwistedWonder · 22/05/2025 07:47

Stinkbomb · 22/05/2025 01:22

But things can be up in there for months/years - maybe the seller is on holiday/in hospital when you message them?

The recent item I purchased that she was too busy to send had been listed the same morning.

I made offer which she immediately declined and I then paid listed price within an hour so ‘too busy’ doesn’t really cut it with this example.

I do ignore now. And quite often if they don’t get a response they come back with a more reasonable offer

Nearlyamumoftwo · 22/05/2025 07:50

if I'm going to put Something up for sale for £2, and you offer me 50% less, then be rude to me when I decline you should expect just one photo and not have expected me to take time looking at the label to find out what material it is. Buyers are worse

colonialwomanonthewing · 22/05/2025 07:52

Also, the more questions a buyer asks, the less likely they are to buy. If it's for something relatively £££, I don't mind answering, but when it's someone going 'hi wot is length' for a £3 H&M t-shirt I just think - can you not look on the website size guide.

cuttinganotheronion · 22/05/2025 07:52

Fingers and toes in the pictures. Really puts me off even if the clothes are nice

Zippidydoodah · 22/05/2025 07:54

Pabbel · 21/05/2025 22:25

Or they take your money but don't send the item.

This doesn’t happen, though? You can’t get the money until the buyer has picked up and confirmed that everything is ok.

PonyPatter44 · 22/05/2025 07:56

KidLeopard · 21/05/2025 22:01

On top of this, don't list it as a particular material when it isn't.

Your polyester 'silky satin feel' top is not SILK.

Oh god, THIS! I search by material, I don't want to buy "silky", I want to buy silk! Also, if you want me to spend in excess of 80 quid on an item, at least take multiple non-blurry photos of it, in decent lighting!

ButteryLightHouse · 22/05/2025 07:57

I can't get cross at any of this. It's all part of the course isn't it? You're able to buy decent clothes cheaper than a charity shop, with a lot less effort to find exactly what you want. And you're able to sell stuff instead of giving it away. No one is forcing you to buy or sell on vinted. If it winds you up so much, delete the app

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 22/05/2025 07:57

Last week I had a buyer send me an offer on a bundle that already had a built in discount … price they offered was so low they would have effectively got one item free and the second at almost half price. I ignored that completely. The next day a lady purchased it at the asking price. I stuck an extra item in for free as her correspondence was so polite and friendly.

amooseymoomum · 22/05/2025 08:00

when you buy something that is marked as very good then when it comes it is bobbly marked and clearly worn I have worked in charity shops and it would clearly have gone in the rag bag
lots of buyers do not think we know what label names are for what company hence charging ridiculous prices for items like George Tu etc they are budget supermarket brands!

Toooldforthisbollocks · 22/05/2025 08:02

I’ve just had someone message to ask for more measurements which I supplied. They then made an offer which I accepted. They paid so I got the label and packed the item ready to send.
They then ask to cancel the sale giving the reason as “bought the wrong size”
I have to agree to cancel it as I hadn’t actually posted the item but queried the reason and buyer said Well there isn’t an option for I changed my mind.
Looked at this person’s reviews and they have cancelled 24 sales in the last six months!
Why aren’t time wasters like this banned?!
Needless to say I have blocked them now.

ButtCheeks · 22/05/2025 08:04

My favourite is “small mark on the sleeve/leg/whatever, would come out in the wash”

Well fucking wash it then before you list it!
