Is it selfish that I don’t want to date a man with children?

I’m early 30s, single at the minute. I have a professional job, great salary, own house, good looking. I lead a great life. However, I would like to date. Been on the apps and honestly it isn’t great out there. My friends who are married say I’m being too fussy saying that I’m being too picky saying I don’t want to date a man who has kids. I’m understand, some men my age will have children but that isn’t my preference. I can’t see myself having a blended family, or being a stepmother, looking after someone’s else’s children, I’m over that. why is that so hard to get? I’m a being too fussy? Not all men my age have children but I honestly have no interest in raising another child.

A male friend doesn't want to date women with children. Also, doesn't want to date someone who has cats as he is allergic.

Oh stop digging. You started off by saying thag mothers were "picking off" men without kids, as if mothers are predators and men are helpless victims. Then you said men will fuck anything. Then you said actually your issue was that you were just "wary" of these men. Then you said it was both. Then you said it was hypocritical, as if two adults can't morally choose to date each other if they're not both in exactly the same situation. (Did you know that some infertile or childless men like adopting children and getting a family?)

I am sorry if you can't find a man without kids to date you but that's not OP's problem.

It’s not hypocritical when these men have their own brains and boundaries though. The man might not be bothered about the thought of future stepchildren the same way as the woman might. We’re all allowed to have our own preferences and sometimes it fits together nicely.

And frankly, there is definitely a difference between the amount problems that arise for stepmums and stepdads. So I don’t blame women for wanting to protect themselves from the BS that comes up when you date a man with kids.

@ThatCyanCat I'm not digging I stand by what I said. If someone only wants to date a childless man and then ends up dating one how has she not "picked" exactly that? Plenty of women only date tall men are they not picking their type there? 🤔You chose to read into it about women being predators and men being helpless victims which I never mentioned or inferred! It does not mean the men have no say in it...but if someone filters out all dads and is only looking for ones without kids then she is picking only childless men. Definition of "pick"-choose (someone or something) from a number of alternatives. HTH. You might wanna let google know they're being misogynistic 😆

Also I have experience of this as my brothers are childless and one of them dated a woman with a kid who he HATED and it was horrible to hear how he spoke about him. Thankfully they split up!
