To ask what you'd think of a 20+ stone woman lying on beach?

I'm alone on a uk beach, taking in the sun.

Will people likely be thinking the old beached whale thing?

Who cares what other people think?

TaliaTalia · 20/05/2025 12:51

Having been a similar weight a couple of years ago I would be lying if I said I didn’t notice ‘bigger’ women doing things like that (stuff like lying on a beach, running, at the gym - anything like that). But it’s not in a judgmental ‘don’t want to see that’ kind of way. It’s more an appreciative ‘I’m glad there are people with all sorts of different body shapes who have the confidence to do this’ way and I feel a little bit sad for my old self who would have LOVED laying on the beach in nice weather but was worried about what people would think (not that losing weight has changed that, if anything the loose skin has actually made it worse not better 😂)

Aw thank you. I'm so relaxed but also a bit on edge knowing people can be judgemental.

Fuck them if they are. Enjoy the beach!

Katemax82 · 20/05/2025 12:51

My mum was 20 plus stones, she would have loved to lie on the beach

MummaMummaMumma · 20/05/2025 12:51

I wouldn't even notice I don't think

Waitingforspring77 · 20/05/2025 12:51

Wouldn't bat an eyelid.
Enjoy the beach!

Jujujudo · 20/05/2025 12:52

Even if they are thinking that - so what? You have every right to enjoy the beach, it’s your body and your enjoyment. Would you judge someone who looked like you? You’re judging yourself harshly, which we all do. I hope you’re having a lovely time!

Zezet · 20/05/2025 12:53

One more who would think about your sunscreen but not about your shape.

laurini · 20/05/2025 12:53

I would think how wonderful to see someone outside and enjoying the weather. Anyone thinking anything negative has their own issues, and you shouldn't waste your life making them yours as well xxx

Doggymummar · 20/05/2025 12:55

I would think you are hardy. I'm in Brighton under my electric blanket working. It's not beach weather here!

LowDownBoyStandUpGuy · 20/05/2025 12:55

I wouldn’t think twice about it, anyone who does isn’t worth bothering about really.

A beach body is just a body at the beach.

AdoraBell · 20/05/2025 12:55

Don’t worry about people think just enjoy yourself and relax.

Greebosmum · 20/05/2025 12:56

I would think good for you. I am a similar size and wouldn't wear a bikini (more to do with being well over 60) but would definitely lie on the beach in my cossie, and get up for a paddle. Might even have an ice lolly.

Life really is too short to care about what other people think, even though I obviously do care, we all do to a greater or lesser extent.

People honestly don't think about us as much as we think they do.

ThatCyanCat · 20/05/2025 12:58

soddingblimey · 20/05/2025 12:50

elomi! I love their bikinis

Thank you, I'm in the market...will check it out.

dottydodah · 20/05/2025 12:58

I would think "hope shes enjoying herself" It really pisses me off ,how you need to feel or think like this .How many men with a beer belly /paunch would even think someone might think they were not a perfect weight?Women are under pressure to "look good" all the time .I am overweight and I like eating ,walking and nice clothes! Bryony Gordon is on the larger side and has run 3 marathons in her underwear!

TurquoiseTortoiseToastyToes · 20/05/2025 12:59

I might notice you, and if you smiled at me I’d smile back, and if you didn’t because you were relaxing/reading a book or whatever, I’d carry on walking and not think on it at all. Enjoy your time at the beach!

PrettyParrot · 20/05/2025 12:59

Some will, but they can GTF! As I have got older I have found I naturally care much less what people think of me - it is very freeing

Sortumn · 20/05/2025 13:00

Does it matter what people think?
If people are judging you, they're not enjoying the beach.... That's really sad.
It feels lovely to lie on a beach with the sun on your skin and know you can cool down in the sea. The feeling of doing that is the same whether 8 stone or 20 stone and whys shouldn't everyone experience that feeling?

IdiottoGoa · 20/05/2025 13:01

I’d be really jealous of you, I really want to be able to sunbathe on the beach. Anyone who judges is a twat and deserves to be dunked in the sea

Phonicshaskilledmeoff · 20/05/2025 13:01

I mean, do you literally remember a single stranger, their size or what they were wearing from any beach visit you’ve ever been on. I know I don’t.

MaidOfSteel · 20/05/2025 13:02

I’d be thinking she’s soaking up this lovely sun while it lasts, just like I’m doing right now. In the garden, though, sadly not at the beach!

Pedallleur · 20/05/2025 13:03

if anybody is judging you they cant have much to do! As if some random persons opinion matters. But I am at work and am now envying you. Enjoy the beach and the sun/sea whilst I slave away

gamerchick · 20/05/2025 13:03

I'd be thinking lucky bugger having the luxury Grin

We need some sun on our skin on occasion. Enjoy.

Fairyliz · 20/05/2025 13:06

Like most people I wouldn’t be thinking about you, but about me me me.
Most people are so self occupied they don’t really think about other people. It might sound a bit sad, but actually it’s quite freeing to think other people aren’t really bothered what you are doing.

nodramaplz · 20/05/2025 13:07

Fair play for you to have the confidence. Some people wouldn’t no matter what their size.
enjoy ☺️

most people prob won’t even notice you, they are too busy taking selfies. self absorbed these days.
