To ask what you'd think of a 20+ stone woman lying on beach?

I'm alone on a uk beach, taking in the sun.

Will people likely be thinking the old beached whale thing?

I would be jealous of your confidence tbh. I’m not going to lie and say I wouldn’t register your size, of course I would, but having also been 20 stone I only ever saw people my size doing things and mentally applauded them for being so able to do it. Even now I’m a few stone down and I can’t do things I want to like exercise or sunbathing because I feel so self conscious.

If I saw you sunbathing on the beach I would be jealous because you didn’t have to rangle two feral children who are hyped up on sugar. I would hate you a little bit for that.

I think most of us feel insecure about something or other. I used to be super skinny with knobbley knees and felt too embarrassed to lie on a beach. Now I'm size 22, older and wiser, don't worry about anything now. I met a woman on holiday a few years ago who was frankly gorgeous but ashamed of her less-shapely ankles. Everyone's more worried about what they see as their own flaws.

If I saw you I'd think how lovely to relax and enjoy the Spring weather, good on her.

I think people spend a lot less time thinking about strangers than you’d imagine. Most of the time they are immersed in their own little world/ phone. Even if they do notice you it’d be fleeting at best. Can you tell me about any strangers you happened to notice yesterday?

I'm 20st.

I regularly lie on the beach in a bikini.

No one has keeled over in obvious disgust or wet themselves laughing at me, and if they did, that's a them problem. I'm just me, enjoying the sun as anyone of any size should be able to.

It wouldn't bother me at all.

The only time I've ever been a bit 😳 was in Croatia where there were huge naked middle aged men basking like big pink walruses on the rocks.

I learned to half close my eyes and blur my focus.

I don't think I'd really notice but if I did I would probably feel encouraged by seeing someone else of a similar size to me enjoying themselves on the beach.

People are judgemental, all of us! There is no getting away from that. We cannot read each other's thoughts though, so no point giving it any head space. The Sun is out, enjoy it.

So I always used to worry about shit like this but then my friend said to me

"It's none of your business what other people think of you"

So what if some stranger thought something unpleasant about you for a second? Their thoughts aren't gonna hurt you. Your thoughts are gonna hurt you if you worry and ruin your own day thinking about what strangers think of you. Projecting your own insecurities and worries on to a stranger who probably didn't even notice you in the first place. Don't do it.

Just enjoy your day!

If she had big boobs, I might covertly check out how supportive her swimsuit is. Having tits like army missiles myself, this is something I can't help but notice.

On an empty beach it's unlikely anyone will get close enough to be able to work out what size you are. They'll see a person in the distance and think nothing of it.

I think people are too preoccupied with themselves to think negatively about strangers. And the people that do think negatively are not worth your time.

My only concern would be that if your not on a chair or a sun lounger you may find getting up of the sand unaided quite difficult.

But that’s coming from someone on Mounjaro who has struggled to get back up at the beach gracefully.
