He’s on This Morning right now. He makes my skin crawl. Him and Ben Shepherd together is like the duo from Hell.

YANBU - he’s such a creepy man
YABU - he’s a fine upstanding member of society, you’re the creepy one here

Now I'm all for having an opinion and I'm not keen on the man but that is a very serious allegation to throw at someone with no evidence.

It's one thing to be creepy but that does not mean he is a criminal.

I am not an apologist before anyone starts but be careful what you throw around. I'm sure you wouldn't be too happy if someone said that about you.

And saville was different. There was a lot of evidence on him and even the police called him a predator so I believe he is one.

Fair enough. You're entitled to your opinion.

I'm entitled to express mine.

He gives me the creeps and those are the vibes I get off him.

HippyKayYay · 20/05/2025 12:23

he doesn't write his books!

He really does!

Karmakamelion · 20/05/2025 13:23

There are also really racist stereotypes ii his books. Ie the grabby Asian shop keeper. Awful

cardboardvillage · 20/05/2025 13:26

I wont ever buy his books

He’s a wrongun. Watch this space

Circumferences · 20/05/2025 13:27

He's bisexual isn't he?
I agree though, a strange man indeed.

Hwi · 20/05/2025 13:27

Not a well man. Aye.

I really dislike him. Anyone who writes in a way that makes fun of vulnerable groups, is not a good person.

His kids’ books are horrible to read, not just because of content but stylistically are very poor. And yet people talk about him as if he is Shakespeare.

Celebrity 'authors' really grip my sh*t. Proper writers don't stand a chance.

ThinkingaboutMJ · 20/05/2025 13:30

I won't allow his books in the house, if DS is given any they go to the charity book shop
Awful man

Mymanyellow · 20/05/2025 13:36

I’m currently reading Robodog with my 8 year old dgs. It’s ok not a patch on Roald Dahl of course. But it’s a hell of a lot of padding and illustrations.
He gives me the creeps, but then I’m not a fan of sexual innuendo anyway.

NottsNora · 20/05/2025 13:36

He visited DC’s school to give a talk to the younger years. DC reported back that DW had been rude to one of their friends who had spoken to DW in the corridor to say how much she loved his books. And obviously he then bounded around the room with all the little kids making out he was the best guy in the world and oh so friendly.

I really don't understand how these things get a pass in DW books, just because he's well-known and a big seller - it's appalling. (Whoever actually wrote them.) I work in a publishing-related field and you can't move for extreme wokery, handwringing about LQBTQ+ and ethnic minority representation, special awards, grants and initiatives for "under-represented" groups, awareness-raising training courses etc etc - but yay let's heavily promote these books full of misogyny, classism, prejudice and sneering based on looks, weight, age, disability etc. Just goes to show it's all meaningless box-ticking and if the money talks no one cares at all.

Well, thanks to DW, the 'wokery' books can also be funded and published. Of course he writes his own books. He's a writer! If someone else wrote them, they would not be like they are. The word 'bestseller' does the heavy lifting here. He has very tight editorial control, which is why they read like they do. I would have thought that was logically obvious.

Daisyvodka · 20/05/2025 13:46

It's an open secret in certain industries - the fact that he hasn't had a documentary made about him is supposedly down to some very expensive lawyers he has had and has had for a very long time.

Turns out you weren’t entitled to express your opinion in this case. Good.

OssieShowman · 20/05/2025 13:50

He reminds me of Michael Barrymore.

GameOfJones · 20/05/2025 13:57

There have been rumours circulating about him for years.

Astrabees · 20/05/2025 13:57

I have reported the worst comments on this thread and they have been deleted. Any poster who makes libellous comments on line risks legal action but beyond that it is impossible for anyone to reach the twisted conclusions that have been set out on here several times. This is not a hot topic of the day, just an opportunity for pathetic twisted keyboard warriors to have a go.

BobbyBiscuits · 20/05/2025 13:59

Dontlletmedownbruce · 20/05/2025 12:49

This is a rather horrible thread. You don't have to like his books comedy or interviews but suggesting there is something deeply sinister about a man you don't know because of your gut feeling and then stating it on a public forum is really poor form.

It's not gut feeling, it's based on evidence. He presents himself in a way in which his humour solely revolves around mocking others and making them feel uncomfortable. His books are gross, his comedy unfunny and he was caught verbally abusing his colleagues who actually make the whole show on BGT.

It does make you wonder whether there might be an element of 'hidden in plain sight' at play here.

I can tell you that there have been several attempts at a ‘DW Enquiry’ and two years ago the Guardian came very, very close. I know because I spoke to a journalist at length about it and provided a factual account of things heard and seen when working on a show he used to appear on. Journalists from the BBC and Sky News have contacted me since. They never seem to be able to break the story in the end.

He spends a vast, vast amount of money on his lawyers.

None of what I have said here is libel because it is true.

Yes, this absolutely fits with my own personal observations of him.

I'm waiting for "The Walliams Enquiry".

He's creepy AF!

This. His books are not allowed over the threshold.

Hysterectomynext · 20/05/2025 14:23

I know something about him that hasn’t come out to the public yet. But definitely it’s in plain sight.

Moonlightdust · 20/05/2025 14:25

holidayclubs · 20/05/2025 11:51

I’ve met him four times through work. I was expecting the DW you see on tv but I’m convinced it’s just a huge act as he was totally different when not surrounded by people and/or cameras. Almost quiet, polite, courteous and came across really well I was shocked at how I’d pre judged him. It’s a shame he must feel a need to be a certain way in public as he was lovely

Well Ted Bundy was seemingly polite and nice in public.

Look at DW’s Wikipedia under ‘controversies’ and you may change your opinion of him.

JasmineAllen · 20/05/2025 14:26

I'm going to buck the trend here. The only thing I've ever seen DW in was Little Britain which I really enjoyed. I didn't find him remotely creepy in that.

Also don't think Ricky Gervais or Jimmy Carr are creepy. In fact I really rate RG as a comedian and as an animal rights campaigner.

Edited for typo 🙂

burglaraphobia · 20/05/2025 14:27

The sketches based on an elderly woman with incontinence were disgusting. I'm not easily offended but making jokes about a serious and embarrassing health condition just contributes to stigma. Nasty nasty stuff. How this was ever broadcast I don't know. It just isn't funny.

His smile never reaches his eyes to me so he always looks very fake and plastic.

Doctors condemn Little Britain sketch

Doctors today condemned the BBC comedy show Little Britain for ridiculing incontinence sufferers.
