Oh don't be like that @JJMama!!!

I just don’t get the point of the post - fwiw one son just cooked dinner, other one is on his Xbox gaming with a friend. Not sure how this is a relevant thread to anything? How does knowing that help anyone?

changedusernameforthis1 · 19/05/2025 20:07

Eldest (13) is on his ps5. DSS (9) is at home, we won't see him until half term, youngest (6) is getting ready for bed.

tobee · 19/05/2025 20:14

Ah well relevancy and helpfulness aren't always essential in life @JJMama . Have a little browse around Mumsnet, maybe. You might find some gems. On the other hand you might just despair at the ephemeral and frivolous nature of humanity.

steff13 · 19/05/2025 20:17

National Honor Society meeting.

CoffeeWithHer · 19/05/2025 20:19

DD revising for Alevels drinking her 50th cup of tea;

DS revising for GCSE’s but has literally came in to me to say he is cooked and now going to watch TopBoy.

CatCaretaker · 19/05/2025 20:23

Has just fallen asleep on the boob. About to attempt to put down 😥

Justploddingonandon · 19/05/2025 20:25

One is sleeping ( I hope!), the other has finally emerged after taking forever to get ready for bed and is getting his bag ready for school tomorrow.

mamaduckbone · 19/05/2025 20:27

The one at home is revising for his English exam tomorrow. He hates English so he keeps wandering down with a pained expression to get more snacks.

The one at uni - haven't a clue. Possibly revising, or might be at work. He's home on Sunday for the summer.

TheBigFatMermaid · 19/05/2025 20:29

One is probably still trying to get her 7 year old to stay in bed long enough to go to sleep, another is at work (front of house in a hotel) the final one is looking forward to finishing work (tonight on fairground duty) in half an hour.

OK,OK.... my kids are all grown, but I'm still a Mum and I hang about here because of all the wonderful help and advice I've received during really tough times bringing them up.

I’ve been here for years, and seen much banality. Just don’t get how asking what other peoples’ children are doing is remotely interesting to anyone else!

tobee · 19/05/2025 20:41

So why open the thread? That's actually a genuine question @JJMama

Different folks, different strokes and all that.

LilacFlowerBed · 19/05/2025 21:14

Both of mine are in bed although I keep hearing little noises from DS so he's probably reading a book as he does most nights.
Wish I'd seen this thread earlier in the day so I'd have something more interesting to add.
Perhaps @BeLoudRubyPanda you should start a new thread titled "If your kids are asleep, what are you doing" 😂

Breathtakingly - it is allowed to not respond to threads you feel aren’t relevant to you! Amazing stuff. In the meanwhile the huge majority of those who’ve responded appear to have got the spirit of the thread.

Breathtakingly, you’ve missed it!

One is in her room chilling the other is at band practice

DetectiveDouche · 19/05/2025 22:02

I'm going to have to do a bit of guesswork as my kids are grown and DS1 and DS2 don't live at home.

DS1 (32) is probably in bed watching tv with DIL while GDD (17) months sleeps in the next room. She is a good sleeper, the little cherub. I adore her (which is somewhat off-topic!)

DD (26) lives at home so I'm pretty aware of what she's doing. She's just finished a late shift, has cooked herself some food and is eating in her room watching some strange Vlogger man on tv.. whose name I'm have been repeatedly told but which escapes me. She is guffawing as I write.

DS2 (24) has complex needs and challenging behaviours and lives in a care facility 20 miles away. He is mostly likely awake and chilling with his tablet in bed, periodically getting up to chat with his night staff if it's Max, his favourite. I hope he's in a happy mood and not trashing the joint. I wonder this during most waking hours of the day and often at night.

Note: I'm MN Old School so I use DS and DD plus numbers to indicate order of birth, not age. This used to be what we did but don't see it often these days

I'm interested.. and interesting in participating but I'm a bit dull. Seems many of us are ☺️

One (21) is sitting on the porch with me playing with the stray cats, one (19) is in south Philly visiting his fiancées family, one (16) overslept this morning and missed an important exam and is currently playing dnd online.

seasonspuzzling · 20/05/2025 00:44

Very puzzled by the OP. The thread title makes sense. But why do you want to know what the kids are up to?

It's likely "I want to feel superior about what my kids are doing" nonsense. Similar question crap to the "how much do you save every month" stuff. Could also be an exercise by marketing people to gather some info on the sly about what an example set of children get up to. Of course people could be completely making shit up. I could say that my kids are sailing round the world, learning how to fly jets, and in prison and no one would be any the wiser. Of course that also assumes I actually have kids...ah the perils of asking survey questions lol!
