This website is called Mumsnet and you can tell by the name there's mums. So what are kids up to

All on devices.

TaliaTalia · 19/05/2025 19:31

One is at cadets, one’s doing homework, the toddler should definitely be going to bed but is kicking a little ball around the kitchen with such glee that I’m pretending I don’t see it and taking a quiet five minutes instead.
No idea where the teens are. In the house somewhere. Hopefully the eldest is studying but I suspect they’re both gaming together.

Fixesplease · 19/05/2025 19:31

Finishing the last chapter of his audio book then sleep.
He's 8 and is knackered with it being the last week of term!

Stuckinarut100 · 19/05/2025 19:32

tobee · 19/05/2025 19:35

Very puzzled by the OP. The thread title makes sense. But why do you want to know what the kids are up to?

Why does anyone want to know anything?

BitOutOfPractice · 19/05/2025 19:40

Erm, I imagine dd1 is making dinner / getting ready for work tomorrow and dc2 is maybe chatting to their girlfriend. I have no idea though we are just back from a few days away together on holiday. You know not all “mums” have young kids right?

Minding their business. How about you?

Yay! That sort of friendly response is exactly what a parenting forum is all about! Good on ya mate, what a great attitude you have!

Are you stupid?
have you never read these lovely “just because” threads like “what’s for dinner tonight?” Or “what’s everyone doing on this lovely Sunday” type threads on this chat forum?

JustAnInchident · 19/05/2025 19:45

My 3.5yo is asleep in his room, my 10 week old is asleep on my chest. I probably should put her in her cot but I so love these cuddles. It goes by so fast.

Breathtakingly - it is allowed to not respond to threads you feel aren’t relevant to you! Amazing stuff. In the meanwhile the huge majority of those who’ve responded appear to have got the spirit of the thread.

I don't understand... I thought ALL children were on their phones ALL the time and that we are supposed to be panicking about this and the lack of reading, socialising etc? Scrolling through these responses I've seen only a couple where one of two kids were on their phones or playing games on a tablet. What's going on? Is it all a big myth? Are my children the only children who play Roblox/scroll Instagram or TikTok?! (Admittedly they're not doing it after dinner, usually, and this was posted at around 8pm originally... but still, I'm amazed there aren't more 'They're on their phones' answers.)
