90% of my work shores are from Clarks and have been for years. I get this is a collaboration but honestly? Or am I really out of touch and this is what I need to be wearing.

Absolutely love the shade of blue though.

These are disgusting and so is the price

Masmavi · 17/05/2025 23:36

Not keen on Clark’s. Their shoes are mostly clunky and ugly. I think these ones are trying to be cutting edge but failing miserably!

I wonder how many they’ve actually made? Be interesting to know what the initial production run was - probably extremely limited, so very few will end up in the outlet, if all the people who love them, snap them up.

I was going to say something like this. They won’t sell many so probably carry very few in each size.

Oldandcobwebby · 18/05/2025 00:26

I think that "shit" is the word I was looking for. Who the hell would buy those?

saltandvinegarchipsticks · 18/05/2025 00:39

MsDastardley · 17/05/2025 18:22

I read that she was a consultant for Balenciaga, so I would say there will definitely be people out there that will buy them.

Ah, Balenciaga, the brand that’s just a big troll for rich people. Explains a lot.

Burnout50 · 18/05/2025 00:44

Holy what the actual f#£k

I haven't read all the responses but my first impression was wtf

Then I saw the price and doubled down.

Fuck no...

The target market is people who only choose shoes to impress other people, and only want to impress people who are (a) only impressed by shoes that are priced at at least £250 and (b) have an encyclopedic knowledge of all qualifying shoes so will recognise these ones.

As it is therefore a tiny target market, the manufacturing fixed-costs per pair made are high, so the cost must be high

Alternatively, the target market is just people who like them, even if you don't?

If those had actually been finished properly, they would be lovely but they look like what you'd get from temu!! Awful!

They do not look like shoes from temu. I have a several pairs going on over a year and they still look and feel great.Grin
these ( in my opinion) look as if they’re broken and ripped.
they also are more expensive than any of my designer boots!
i just don’t understand Confused
it’s a shame as i actually think the colours are good, but i just do not understand what they thought they would achieve with these.

footpath · 18/05/2025 00:54

Seems an odd choice as that look isn't what I would associate with a the classic Clarks customer!

MrsSunshine2b · 18/05/2025 01:01

These are dreadful, and who is Martine Rose?

DreamTheMoors · 18/05/2025 01:19

At first I was going to tell you “they’re denim.”
But they aren’t.
And the open toe - that’s a no for me.
I like the heel.
I like the heel - that’s it.
Maybe the price is due to Trump’s tariffs.

LittleBearPad · 18/05/2025 07:36

They’re to generate interest from fashion press. They won’t sell many but they don’t intend to. They’ve achieved one of their aims through this thread which is to drive clicks to their website.

Augustus40 · 18/05/2025 08:06

They look tacky. For that price you would be much better off buying in Ecco. Fabulous shoe shop.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 18/05/2025 08:10

Two hundred and fifty quid for shoes that look like they belong in the bin?

Bloody hell.

I wish I had the ability to convince people to pay £££ for tat! I've got several pairs of worn out shoes I could flog. 😁

Greyexpectations · 18/05/2025 08:23

Clark’s has a cult
following in the Caribbean, apparently. Lots of people stock up here and take them over.

I don’t think the shoe is that hideous, it’s pretty interesting, but perhaps it’s aimed at a different market.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 18/05/2025 08:28

They look like I made them on a ‘Shoe-making Workshop’ day out.

Fantailsflitting · 18/05/2025 08:59

There must be a very limited market. But I find Clark's shoes dreadfully uncomfortable anyway let alone making yourself a laughing stock by stepping out in some of these very ugly shoes. Give me European shoes any day.

AcquadiP · 18/05/2025 09:24

I love Clarks footwear but this unfinished offering doesn't represent Clarks values to me. The colours are lovely but the rest of the shoe and the price, nope.

GreenFressia · 18/05/2025 11:40

I like them but £250? No.

GreenFressia · 18/05/2025 11:41

They aren't that different to a similar Sezanne block heel.

Gingernaut · 18/05/2025 12:17

I don't know what they are trying to convey

"deconstructed shoes" or "this is how shoes are made" vibes going on here, right down to the diagram where the heel is supposed to be positioned, still marked on the soles

AlphabettiTouretti · 18/05/2025 13:04

The thing is, they're not "intentionally distressed," are they?

"Intentionally distressed" is when you make a finished (usually fairly normal) item and then rough it up a bit to imitate wear and tear. Which I've got nothing against, personally.

These are shoes which have been made in a weird way in the first place (lining hanging out all round) and not distressed at all.

Once they actually do get any wear and tear then they will look terrible. The light-coloured, soft, porous lining all round the edge is going to get filthy and manky. It will also soak up any moisture and bring it into the inside of the shoe. There's actually a good reason why shoe linings are normally on the inside of the shoe and not sticking out all round the edge.

If you want to show off your shoemaking techniques, maybe make a display about them in your flagship stores (actually I would genuinely be interested to see that). Making a shoe which is going to look shit if you wear it outdoors is probably not the best way forward.

I saw a video of things people bought from temu and it had a pair of timberland l9oking boots of which the sole had been squared rather than rounded and these shoes reminded me of that video 🤣

I was worried at first but i’ve got 3 pairs of boots, some shoes and trainers from there and they’re great ( seeing as i barely do anything but work anyway) and i wear them all every day.
i like out there things, but i don’t think i could wear these shoes. They look half done and ripped. It would irritate me. I end up trying to pull the stitching from the back off….
