To have complained about today’s episode of Loose Women

WithYou47 · 15/05/2025 20:44

My DH thinks IABU but I’m adamant this was inappropriate.

Loose Women had a ‘dummy’ of a man’s bottom on their show earlier and one of the presenters/guests inserted their finger where the sun doesn’t shine.

I was eating lunch at the time and found this extremely unbecoming for that time of the day.

I expect my complaint will fall on deaf ears, but it’s worth a go.

Shoving a finger up someone's arse against their will

Although doesn't rape technically require a penis?

Edited

And a real bum.

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 15/05/2025 23:40

Don't watch This Morning OP, they had a sperm race the other week just for fun.

Both shows are embarrassing but also informative on health matters.

Everyday is a school day for someone out there.

Spirallingdownwards · 15/05/2025 23:50

So just the one arsehole on the thread and not the plastic one on the TV show!

MumWifeOther · 15/05/2025 23:58

Really!?

redcord · 16/05/2025 00:24

And all this in front of the future King of England's uncle. How unlike the homelife of our own dear Queen (RIP).

CountryMumof4 · 16/05/2025 00:27

I've never watched LW, or any daytime TV other than when I was on MAT leave, but I certainly wouldn't get worked up about a segment covering men's health. It's not like they had a real man standing there with a doc doing the examination up his bum on live TV (and even then I wouldn't be bothered). it's an essential part of health care, as are smear tests etc.

I'm sorry if it upset or offended you OP, but I do feel it's important for things like that to be discussed opebly so it's the norm. Imagine how many lives could be saved. Even just one!

BobbyBiscuits · 16/05/2025 00:30

ItGhoul · 15/05/2025 23:27

The programme was Loose Men and themed around men’s health. Not there for women to giggle at. And most women take men’s health really seriously because they don’t want their partners and sons to, you know, die unnecessarily and all that.

Ok in that case it seems ok. But I don't see why men need to see a plastic replica of an arse with stuff being inserted into it?

Ilikeadrink14 · 16/05/2025 00:32

LoveBecomesaHabit · 15/05/2025 21:10

Why do they do this Loose Men thing? Do they seriously think that the husbands/ partners of their regular viewers are going to sit down and watch it instead of them? Or that men who don’t normally watch Loose Women will suddenly get the notion to because it’s men presenting?

I have often wondered the same myself. Both programmes are complete and utter trash and I gave up watching ages ago. The Loose Men, especially, is dire. That said, if I find out that they are discussing something relevant to me, I might watch that bit. I can’t remembe4 when I last sat through a whole programme.
I fail to understand why these programmes are still being aired and why some people actually watch them every day. The presenters are mostly inept, especially the dreadful Ruth, or Colleen when she fills in. Christine is bearable, just, but can be juvenile. Janet would probably be ok but for some reason, she is only a panellist. Annoying people like Myleen Klass keep getting shovelled in , presumably in the hope they will save the day. They don’t! Even Gloria seems bored and is showing her age. All told, it’s a train wreck.
How these programmes carry on when viewing figures drop as drastically as they have, I do not know,

ApricotFlan · 16/05/2025 00:46

“Extremely unbecoming” 😄😄

I was channel hopping at the time - how was I to know it was to do with that subject? I’d even argue then it was inappropriate.

Given the normal tone of the show I assumed it was a sexual discussion and they were demonstrating a prostate massage for sexual
purposes.

How were you to know? Watch it fully and then form an opinion. You assumed and got it wrong.

next time, be fully informed before you complain.

Assume

Makes an ass of u and me!

Your assumption was wrong, so I suggest that you retract your complaint, tell your DH he is right and agree that men’s health also matters! You don’t complain about breast checking demos, so don’t complain about prostrate demos!

A doctors gloved finger is hardly stuff. It's not like they were shoving cream éclairs in.

It could have been worse, it could have been a real hairy arsehole for all to see. I'm sure Trump was on the ITV news that followed though.

Boom boom.

Bum bum.

Trump tee hee!

I am actually 50.

feelingbleh · 16/05/2025 06:10

BobbyBiscuits · 15/05/2025 23:20

I didn't think the demographic for that show were men so it seems more like they're doing it to be OTT and get women to have a laugh about men's bodies? They'll say it's got a serious health message is what they'll no doubt allege but everyone knows what a bum hole is, and how to stick something up it? So yeah, it's totally unnecessary.

I dont think any grown women are giggling at a prostate exam. It's an important medical exam that saves lives

And you were unable to LISTEN to the discussion to ascertain what they were talking about?

You can’t make a complaint about something when you were simply “channel hopping” and didn’t even get the context. Also, by the way, the first thing I thought when you mentioned inserting a finger was not a sex act, but quite clearly a prostate exam. And finally, what made you think it was Loose Women when the panel was full of men?!

Was your food in your eyes at the time? Agree with your husband. They are trying to raise awareness, whether you think that’s going to put you off your lunch is your issue, don’t make it everybody else’s. It’s also very ignorant.

Toootss · 16/05/2025 06:34

Lauralou19 · 15/05/2025 21:42

I didn’t need to read the comments to know this was a prostate exam. If a dummy put you off your food, just change channels for a few minutes. Surely you’ve seen things that put you off your dinner at mealtimes before? Do you always complain?

I’d rather live in a society where people feel zero embarrassment going for a prostate exam or a smear test or a scan of their testicles if it saves lives and raises awareness. Im sure you can put up with changing channels over lunch if thats the biggest thing to deal with today.

Think seeing that would discourage men rather than encourage.

Toootss · 16/05/2025 06:47

Maybe they’ll reenact a smear test tomorrow to encourage us to go….

The segment in question was on preventing prostate cancer, a very worthy topic, get over yourself ffs!

YANBU. Sounds like digital rape.

By your thinking, I sexually assault the mannequins at work every time I change their clothes. Some parts are just easier to hold when lifting them.

MightAsWellBeGretel · 16/05/2025 07:40

YABU to watch this dross.

LottieMary · 16/05/2025 07:43

Flyswats · 15/05/2025 21:39

I think it is pretty much universally known that a prostate exam involves a finger up the arse. I don't think you need a rubber dummy arse and a real finger on TV to make it clear to those sitting in the back / those who missed the memo etc.

It was obviously done to shake people up and into talking about it.

Looks like that worked, then.

Yeah but it’s still routinely joked about in media as something awful, painful, borderline sexual. My husband ‘knew’ what it involved but had one recently and was surprised how easy it was contrary to his expectations. like smear tests to some degree - I taught pshe to sixth form and ended up in a ‘health’ section (!) talking about how actually it didn’t have to be painful, their rights re double appointments, chaperones and home testing options. I hope someone’s doing the boys version at the boys’ school
and he wouldn’t have gone at all if I hadn’t insisted.
Women are really important in men’s health issues especially in intimate relationships; I believe it’s often women who feel a testicular lump for example

soembarassing1 · 16/05/2025 08:04

My god, tell me you don’t have any life problems without telling me.

If a TV program has taken up so much space in your brain, it’s made you go out of your way to complain and then make a thread about it, you’re blessed.
