To have complained about today’s episode of Loose Women

WithYou47 · 15/05/2025 20:44

My DH thinks IABU but I’m adamant this was inappropriate.

Loose Women had a ‘dummy’ of a man’s bottom on their show earlier and one of the presenters/guests inserted their finger where the sun doesn’t shine.

I was eating lunch at the time and found this extremely unbecoming for that time of the day.

I expect my complaint will fall on deaf ears, but it’s worth a go.

What a bloody stupid post if it was actually about prostate cancer! Get a grip 🙄

LoveBecomesaHabit · 15/05/2025 21:10

Why do they do this Loose Men thing? Do they seriously think that the husbands/ partners of their regular viewers are going to sit down and watch it instead of them? Or that men who don’t normally watch Loose Women will suddenly get the notion to because it’s men presenting?

BotterMon · 15/05/2025 21:10

Voted YANBU but now having read the truth about today's episode YABVU OP and disingenuous to boot. LW or LM is utter gutter trash at the best of times.

Shoving a finger up someone's arse against their will

Although doesn't rape technically require a penis?

Edited

In the UK, yes rape is specifically with a penis. Anything else (finger etc) is sexual assault.

In some other countries (America is one) rape is any penetration without consent.

Gymnopedie · 15/05/2025 21:13

The programme was Loose Men's Health Clinic. The doctor was Amir Khan. Apparently he also gave Craig Doyle a testicle examination (with Craig's back to the camera).

The whole programme was based on asking why men are so reluctant to see a doctor.

Mapletreelane · 15/05/2025 21:17

YABVU for watching Loose Women at all

Either way it wasn't rape because it was a dummy.

All sounds a bit gross though.

ParkHse86 · 15/05/2025 21:20

During maternity leave I had some daytime tv on, but this show is one I could never stand! Even the title puts me off.

Theunamedcat · 15/05/2025 21:21

I remember watching Dr Oz? Do a testicular cancer segment he had some items and a man from the audience helping him demonstrate how to feel for lumps the audience member broke the "testicle" he was like .... don't do that to yourself that will hurt he was very professional about the whole thing

Men's health is important too

RabbitsRock · 15/05/2025 21:23

I find Craig Doyle pretty easy on the eye so enjoyed the segment - it wasn’t offensive at all as it was in context plus it was informative for blokes.

nomas · 15/05/2025 20:46

YANBU. Sounds like digital rape.

That's not a thing that exists, not in UK law anyway.

Plus it was plastic.

And you don't know if the plastic consented.

Btw, a lot of men are really into that.

Seamond · 15/05/2025 21:24

Surely it's similar to showing how to do a breast examination

nocoolnamesleft · 15/05/2025 21:25

Having two first degree relatives who have survived prostate cancer, increasing awareness seems like a really good idea.

Or you could say what really happened, which was a doctor demonstrating how a prostrate examination is carried out on a section about men's health.

Gloriia · 15/05/2025 21:31

To raise awareness of any illness is obviously a good idea, this show however is a shrieking gossipy mess even when the men are doing to so probably not the best platform. This Morning doesn't have quite the same level of silliness so would have been a better place to do it.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 15/05/2025 21:32

OP: A prudish attitude around male medical matters between the naval and the knee is the very reason men are dying needlessly from late-diagnosed testicular, colon and prostate cancer.

Men aren't watching Loose Women.

Men aren't watching Loose Women.

Their wives and girlfriends and mother's and sisters are, and there's huge value in them knowing more about mens health.

AliBaliBee1234 · 15/05/2025 21:38

JoyousEagle · 15/05/2025 21:01

I think OP is being slightly disingenuous. I’ve just looked up loose women on YouTube to see if they have a clip from today’s episode, and it looks like it was all male presenters (is that what they do sometimes on LW?) and there was a dr demonstrating a prostate exam. So it wasn’t giggling women poking around for a joke, it was a medical segment talking about what the prostate is and how the exam works

Edited

In that case, YABU OP.

If they were doing a segment on smear tests would you complain?

AliBaliBee1234 · 15/05/2025 21:39

Gloriia · 15/05/2025 21:33

Men aren't watching Loose Women.

Lots of men probably have LW on in the house even if it's not them who has chosen to watch it

Flyswats · 15/05/2025 21:39

I think it is pretty much universally known that a prostate exam involves a finger up the arse. I don't think you need a rubber dummy arse and a real finger on TV to make it clear to those sitting in the back / those who missed the memo etc.

It was obviously done to shake people up and into talking about it.

Looks like that worked, then.

They don't need to feature a fake rectal examination. Seriously, an explanation is sufficient.

How is that up to you, exactly?

Lauralou19 · 15/05/2025 21:42

I didn’t need to read the comments to know this was a prostate exam. If a dummy put you off your food, just change channels for a few minutes. Surely you’ve seen things that put you off your dinner at mealtimes before? Do you always complain?

I’d rather live in a society where people feel zero embarrassment going for a prostate exam or a smear test or a scan of their testicles if it saves lives and raises awareness. Im sure you can put up with changing channels over lunch if thats the biggest thing to deal with today.

Flyswats · 15/05/2025 21:42

Banmooo · 15/05/2025 21:41

I think it's called her opinion, which is what is required on a talk board. 😳
