To be getting second hand embarrassment because my DH is wearing sandals!

For the first time since I’ve known him, my 43 year old DH has bought himself some sandals. I don’t know why but they make me cringe. I think sandals on men look so naff and ‘old man’.

I’ve put a photo of the pair he has bought on this post.

Anyway, yes they're ugly but they're not so unusual that anyone would notice them. I've got a pair of fairly ugly sandals that are very comfy - I'd tell my husband to shut his mouth if he passed comment on them.

Awful nails, hairy toes… At the bare minimum, they should get a pedicure beforehand.

Very practical. I will get something like that for my 15 y old. DH wears boat shoes without socks that someone mentioned😅

As long as he has clean feet.. no hard skin

I see loads of men abroad in sandals and flip-flops.. with manky feet.. fungal nails.. hard skin.🤢

Whilst they aren't the most stylish of shoe there's nothing worse than a man in heavy shoes and socks on a really hot day. It just looks so silly. Shoes socks and shorts is a terrible look

Both DH and I have KEEN sandals, DH is on his second pair. They’re great.

Alternatives for this left field contraception:

deck shoes
loafers, Italian style
Toms

Closed toe performance style sandals. Perfectly acceptable. Much more practical than trainers. Less naff than sliders.

I love men in shorts and sandals. They look completely fine. The only thing not to do, is wear socks and sandals.

I mean this particular pair is f-ugly, but in general absolutely nowt wrong with a man wearing a decent pair of leisure sandals.
At least they're not Crocs or sliders.

How do you not know what a walking sandal is? I can't imagine not owning some for walking to work (45 mins) in summer

Absolutely nowt wrong with Keen sandals. Go to Australia and see what the UK gap year kids are wearing. It's Keen or Merrell. At least they were when I was there a few years ago.

And definitely not worse than crocs!

I’m with you OP 🤣 they are horrible and I would be embarrassed as well. But you can’t tell him not to wear them
