To be sick of the enduring athleisure trend?

Just that really! I’m so sick of seeing women in activewear leggings. And now that we’re having some better weather the shorts are out. I saw a woman today in a pair of butter yellow short, short, shorts which left nothing to the imagination. I’m sorry I don’t need to see every lump and bump on your behind and legs.

Go on.. tell me how miserable I am 🙄😂

If I had the confidence, I would be wearing shorts, too.

Largestlegocollectionever · 05/05/2025 20:07

I can’t see why it bothers you what other people wear!

Jojo19834 · 05/05/2025 20:07

YABU it’s comfy as hell, why not! I don’t wear shorts however so agree that some of the shorts leave nothing to the imagination!

ThatPeachSheep · 05/05/2025 20:09

I walk a lot, leggings are comfortable and go with my trainers. It’s now sunny and I want to get some colour on my legs, so I’ve been wearing shorts. I really DGAF if you don’t like my bumpy legs. FYI, I’m walking to try to make them less bumpy.

Take your judgement elsewhere!

Seymourscat · 05/05/2025 20:10

I hate it. Leggings and shorts right up your bum. Some women look naked. You can even see their vulva. It’s not a great look even if you had the perfect figure.

HateHorridHenry · 05/05/2025 20:11

Who died and made you the Chief of Fashion Police?

TheChosenTwo · 05/05/2025 20:17

I’ve bought myself 2 pairs of shorts today! One pair of denim boyfriend ones and one pair of khaki linen ones - I would apologise in advance if anyone happens to want to stare at some cellulite or catches a glimpse of some mosquito bite scars but actually I don’t give a shit 😂 neither my arse not my vulva are displayed in them, they are loose and comfortable and I think will be perfect on my sunny holiday soon!

KarmenPQZ · 05/05/2025 20:17

I wore shorts for the first time since 2005 on Friday after varicous vein surgery 2 years ago. My legs are great shape but it makes me feel really nervous showing so much skin. Because of people like you giving judgement.

NicolaCasanova · 05/05/2025 20:18

Couldn’t care less what anyone else wears unless it’s a MAGA hat

LlynTegid · 05/05/2025 20:20

Not the only aspect of why we are the least stylish country on earth. Unfair to single out athleisure on women.

SuchANight · 05/05/2025 20:20

Stop staring women’s arses and legs and you won’t be so sick of it. Seems a simple solution.

MyLegoHair · 05/05/2025 20:24

Look, if I didn't look like a sausage bursting it's skin and dislike the sensation I'd wear super tight shorts too. I'd love to have the confidence to wear them regardless, and I admire those who do, but my arse tends to devour shorts if I do wear them (in the house) which I don't find comfortable. I dislike getting my legs out and although I haven't always found shorts uncomfortable it's this kind of attitude that has given me a life long complex about it. Live and let live I say, free those legs and celebrate human diversity.

LeaveTaking · 05/05/2025 20:26

Maybe stop staring at people’s arses?

I always think there must be deep seated insecurity for people to go to this effort to talk about what complete strangers wear.

MrsPlantagenet · 05/05/2025 20:27

Maybe it’s the area I live in, but any women I see in athleisure wear look great.

PinkArt · 05/05/2025 20:29

I don't dislike it in a pearl clutching 'but you can see their ankles' way, but I wish it would die a death as it's so dull. My hope was that after the comfortable boredom of lockdowns, what followed would be a riot of colour and texture and proper dressing up. I'm still a bit glum that that hasn't happened.
Can't say I've seen many vulvas on display but that's because I'm not in the habit of looking at strange women's groins.

VictoriaEra2 · 05/05/2025 20:33

Op I agree with you. Wholeheartedly. I loathe this trend. Went to Paris recently and it was nowhere to be seen. Everyone looked so smart in nice casual but chic clothes.

RubyRubyRubyRubyAhAhAhAhAhAaaah · 05/05/2025 20:37

Leggings and joggers are so comfy though. When I was a teenager it was all tight, polyester hipster flares and big heels etc. I was so cold and uncomfortable most of the time when I inevitably joined in with whatever fashion was going on at the time. At least joggers and trainers don't ruin your feet 🤷‍♀️

WasherWoman25 · 05/05/2025 20:40

@FluWorldOrder I completely agree with you!

@TheChosenTwo you know full well those are not the type of shorts the OP is referring to.

Donald Trump may want to argue with you about that

LeaveALittleNote · 05/05/2025 20:42

I wouldn’t wear athleisure and I don’t like it, but I think it looks ok on some people. I do miss the trend of years gone by to dress up more. There are a lot of tracksuits around these days, and I do find them quite uninspiring and depressing. Personally I liked the workwear look in the 90s and 2000s, and I look forward to fashion becoming a bit more dressy and chic again. But that’s from a middle-aged nobody!

Springhassprungxx · 05/05/2025 20:43

I live in my activewear at weekends and on my days off because you know, l go to the gym/run/ride bike and if l didn't put the gear on, l would talk myself out of it.

gannett · 05/05/2025 20:46

God no I love athleisure. I'm too lazy and awkward and inelegant for proper fashion but sports gear looks good on me and I don't have to think about it.

AlrightTrouble · 05/05/2025 20:47

This. Why do you care? Avert your eyes if you’re so horrified.

Youbutterbelieve · 05/05/2025 20:47

I don't wear them myself as a) infond them uncomfortable and b) they're unflattering on me. But others clearly feel different and are free to wear what they like.

MuffinsAreJustCakesAtBreakfast · 05/05/2025 20:50

I for one am really pleased women are wearing what they feel comfortable in.

It's a bit like what men have been doing the whole time.
