To be sick of the enduring athleisure trend?

Just that really! I’m so sick of seeing women in activewear leggings. And now that we’re having some better weather the shorts are out. I saw a woman today in a pair of butter yellow short, short, shorts which left nothing to the imagination. I’m sorry I don’t need to see every lump and bump on your behind and legs.

Go on.. tell me how miserable I am 🙄😂

I live in athleisure so you’re unreasonable 🤣. I do at least one type of sport a day though and am constantly on the move so have to be comfy.

Mumofnarnia · 06/05/2025 03:07

Yep this and the hoodie and joggers/ jeans trend!
I do find it strange how people are now getting dressed to go out to bars/ restaurants/ events in the same/ similar outfits they have been wearing in the house/ to run errands/ school drop offs almost every day since Covid. Unless that’s just the area I live in 🤔

TheHerboriste · 06/05/2025 03:12

It tracks with the obesity trend.

A huge percentage of people today would not be able to tolerate a tailored non-stretch garment. Really sad.

WetBandits · 06/05/2025 03:20

Who gives a fuck? I wear cycling shorts all the time as soon as there’s a hint of sunshine. I’m chubby and definitely have some ‘lumps and bumps’, but nobody is forcing you to stare at them Confused

I like to dress comfortably when the weather is warm. This is, as the kids say, a ‘you’ problem.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 06/05/2025 03:32

All of a sudden, a pair of batty riders and a crop top sound more appealing than the prospect of ever being thought to belong to the same group as this.

Lumps and bumps are fine, arse crack and vulva is a bit much though

SatsumaDog · 06/05/2025 05:31

I’m usually in leggings because I’m on my way to or from the gym and I train twice a day. Unless I’m going out it’s rare to see me in anything else. Shorts no, I don’t have the tan for those!

Personally, I’m not a massive fan of scrunch bum leggings, for me. Some are more subtle than others but I’m a bit long in the tooth for that kind of thing! Don’t mine them on other people though.

ManyATrueWord · 06/05/2025 05:35

Why on earth are you policing women's bodies? Surely we have moved past the idea that you only get to be comfortable in shorts if your body meets male gaze approval!

SapporoBaby · 06/05/2025 05:43

Sadly if I was slimmer I would wear them too. It’s comfy.

However I am not slimmer

BountifulPantry · 05/05/2025 21:33

Ladies in Cambodia wear colourful, patterned PJ sets when out and about.

Would that suit you better OP? 🤣

Yes because I would be able to practical see their vulva and actaully see their bum cheeks!

I thought you would get roasted on here! But so true that we have become the least stylish country and athleisure wear is partly to blame. Look at the women in France, Spain and Italy and they dress much better than we do. Just general drop in standards in the UK sadly.

I can assure you that athleisure is all over the place in Italy and Spain.

CherryBlossom321 · 06/05/2025 07:19

YABU. I’ve never been more comfy in my life.

Gettingbysomehow · 06/05/2025 07:21

It makes me boak OP. I don't know why people can't be a bit more classy.
Men too. Great big pregnant looking blokes wearing tiny shorts and no top.

Why would you want a “tailored non-stretch garment”? They’re uncomfortable! Don’t think I’ve ever worn one of those through choice even at my slimmest.

Gettingbysomehow · 06/05/2025 07:23

I do wear tracksuits though, nice ones, I'd sooner hang myself from a lamppost than wear bum scrunch leggings.

ijustneedaminute24 · 06/05/2025 07:46

People like comfort. Shocker.

I wear leggings when not in the office so the majority of the week (not with a crop top thanks to the endo and massive painful bloat for much of the month). Nobody has ever mentioned that they saw my vulva and if they did I’d ask why they’re looking.
The same as I don’t go looking for the bulge in men’s trousers then complaining that their trousers are too tight.

Tulipsontoast · 06/05/2025 07:54

I wear them if going to the gym or for a run.

Unless someone is wearing something really beautiful or quirky I don’t really notice what others wear.

I was just about to say this, since losing weight I dont wear anything with stretch anymore or elastic waistbands. I have a feeling that stretchy clothing contributes to the blindness that occurs when we put on weight, we simply dont feel it and often it doesnt even show because because everything is so stretchy, so you just go up and up and up.

FrangipaniBlue · 06/05/2025 07:56

Also…… leggings are not a new phenomenon?

A photo popped up on my timeline today of me going to a concert in Manchester in 2009 with my mates…. I’m wearing plain black leggings and a tunic type top.

Almost every photo of my mum from the 90s she’s wearing some kind of floral design leggings.

The only difference is the material they were made of 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have just returned after spending extended time in Europe and women do dress much better and look smarter. Yes you see Athleisute wear but definitely toned down and classier somehow.

GraveAndQuiet · 06/05/2025 08:00

I hope athleisure never goes away (although I don't wear shorts in public). However, I wish there was a bit more choice in the shops. I'm trying to buy some smart ish summer trousers suitable for work. I need tailoring not leggings/ elasticated waist/ joggers- even if a wide leg/ shapeless jersey/ crumpled linen. There is much less choice of smarter clothes because of athleisure.

Sick of seeing women in activewear leggings 😂 Jesus Christ get a life man.

We were at a park with the 5yr old yesterday and she shouted "look you can see that womans bum cheeks, why is she dressed like that" the young woman turned round and scowled at ME.
I was mortified but that's 5yr olds for you, say what they see 😂

Really? People popping into the shops after their gym session/run, wearing gym clothing indicates the obesity trend?

I'm not sure if you’ve ever worn a pair of Sweaty Betty leggings, or a sports bra, but you need to wrestle yourself both into them and out of them; you probably burn calories just putting the things on.

Women wear them as they’re great for exercising in, which is combating the obesity trend, not an indication of it.

Maybe we live in different areas, but round my way, the women gliding by in sports wear look like they’ve stepped out of the pages of Women’s Health 🤷‍♀️
