Homemade pizza is not healthy, we’re having a proper dinner.

Dc playing with a neighbour friend, I asked if they wanted to help make homemade pizzas and stay for dinner and to check with the mum.
He came back and said that he wasn’t allowed, my Dc asked ‘Aww, why not?’ and he said that his mum said it wasn’t healthy and that she’d make a proper dinner.

We do this sometimes on Friday/Saturday, Dc enjoy the activity and choosing toppings-passata, mozzarella, mushrooms, peppers, spinach and so on to make funny pizza faces, is this massively unhealthy?!

If my daughter came home and said can they go to a friend's to make pizza, I would ask if I could have some. 😂

Off topic but the Crosta and Mollica frozen pizzas are the nicest I’ve ever had and very normal ingredients list. The Stromboli one is so tasty.

try Doughboys too. normal ingredients and delicious.

A homemade pizza can be perfectly healthy. Just depends on what you put on it.

Cutted-up cheeseburger, chocolate buttons and a dash of Southern Comfort.

Motheroffive999 · 06/05/2025 17:25

I would love to know what the neighbour is having.
Homemade pizza is great 😃

Motheroffive999 · 06/05/2025 17:34

Possibly the mum just wanted to sit in front of the TV in her pyjamas, eat a pizza and drink gin and have an early night and you can't do that if your child is at a friend's and you have to collect them and interact with other mum .

Cutted-up cheeseburger, chocolate buttons and a dash of Southern Comfort.

That would be healthy if you added mushrooms and onions.

Cherrytree86 · 06/05/2025 18:51

What about M&S individual pizzas? Under 400 cals 👍

What’s wrong with cereal…you mean any cereal?

I'm from an immigrant background, it wasn't in our family range of foods/recipes. I was born in the 60's. There's nothing wrong with it, but it doesn't seem to be approved of, on here.

DrPrunesqualer · 06/05/2025 20:06

If it’s all homemade what’s so unhealthy

Flour, yeast, smidge of salt = dough
Toppings + cheese
= Pizza

Delicious

llizzie · 06/05/2025 22:09

Too much money is wasted buying pizzas and that is unhealthy for families.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 06/05/2025 22:29

@pam290358 you could, but nobody does.

Would that life were as simple as it seems to be in your world

@BeNiceWhenItsFinished”cutted” is not a word! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

TheShiningHostess · 07/05/2025 09:43

@EmmaJane2025

There is a thread (possibly in Classics) which is about a "cutted up pear".

It's very funny.

Yes, it's in classics called "If my 3yo had access to AIBU"
A very funny thread😁

Yes it is. It is in common usage on Mumsnet, and all new words have to start somewhere.

Okay, maybe it has not entered the exalted realms of the OED yet, but it is most definitely now an actual word.

The proportion of veg you can get on a pizza is pretty minimal!

This discussion is about HOMEMADE - not shop bought.
Big difference.

Nobody?!? I must be imagining my own wholemeal pizza bases I've done in the past then.
There's quite a lot of imaginary wholemeal pizza bases in my memory.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 08/05/2025 13:41

@LittleBitofBread yiu should sell them, given how rare they are!

Well, I don’t think they are that rare, that’s the point
