Disgusted by school’s response to complaint about pervy teacher - Update

1000 replies

SophEll · 01/05/2025 12:30

I have debated whether to post this update but I promised I would in the previous thread (www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5325717-disgusted-by-schools-response-to-complaint-about-pervy-teacher) and I’m someone who keeps their word.

I have had an acknowledgment of my email to the Chair of Governors who assures me they will ensure my previous correspondence with the school will be personally overseen by the Headteacher as opposed to the senior member of staff who replied previously.

The Governor has understandably explained that the school cannot share the details of any internal disciplinary action, but has assured me the head teacher will provide me with a further response in due course, and asked me to provide my contact number. I’ve also confirmed that should it be required, my friend would be happy to provide her account of the evening’s events.

This proves that the school previously dismissing this without investigation was inappropriate, so I must say I’m feeling rather smug right now at this vindication. Given their prompt response, the Governor clearly recognises the reputational impact something like this could have on the school.

Thanks to all those who provided suggestions on how best to proceed (including those who said I should have laughed it off, been flattered etc) - I’ll endeavour to provide a further update once the headteacher concludes their investigation. An impressively prompt response by the Chair - the joys of retirement I guess!

I’ve said previously - multiple times. It helps to read all posts.

It is good to have a hobby

What wold you have done if you didn't know who he was OP? Not a nice comment I agree but you have given this far too much headspace.

HuffleMyPuffle · 01/05/2025 22:30

Og OP
You're going to get yourself in trouble

Just let it go

Oo! How dramatic and scary! Who is she going to get herself into trouble with do you think?

Bugahug · 01/05/2025 22:44

Let it go! Yes he was inappropriate I think we can all agree; however to pursue your complaint to such a degree is slightly odd.

If you were so upset by how he conducted himself you should have gone to the police.

Did he stop once you told him that it was inappropriate?

Did he pester you?

What sort of outcome are you trying to achieve from all this?

I'm sure he will be gossip of the school by now.

Your grasp on reality is questionable (for want of a better word).

I cannot see how that response is anything difference. It's just a more polietly worded PFO that the first response.

It's like when someone asks a retail worker - can you check in the stock room if you have that in size 10, there's none of the rail.

The first person you asks said no because they know there's none.

The second person you ask says let me check even though they know there's none left. They just want to appear helpful and polite.

The result is the same - out of stock.

You have gotten the same result. You are just failing to recognise it.

This

fattytoadboy · 01/05/2025 22:48

Wow I hadn’t seen the first thread but honestly op, you are ridiculous. And you are enjoying this way too much.

The man made a gross, inappropriate comment. What stopped you from being assertive at the time and saying ‘actually that’s very inappropriate, I don’t appreciate it, please leave me alone’ or an even a simple ‘fuck off will you mate.’

What you chose to do instead was go crying to the school where your own dc don’t even attend anymore and try and get the man fired! A drunken comment to a woman in a club does not make him a bad teacher or a threat to kids! I have teacher friends who are wild on nights out but still manage to be amazing at their job.

Its a real shame you’ve felt the need to do this and you’ve made yourself look a real tit for absolutely no reason other than that you want to ‘win’ - utterly sad and vindictive.

Which bit of that is violated by a shitty remark to another adult in a nightclub?

upholding high standards of behaviour and showing mutual respect - the latter being particularly important as he formerly had a professional relationship to the OP.

Well, the police if she keeps up her stalking and harassment...

You sound vindictive and oh so insufferable.

👏👏👏

exspace · 01/05/2025 23:02

The chat up line is out of Carry on Teacher. Can't imagine anyone thinking it's something to pursue. It's kind of like worrying about a comic strip when there are real issues in the world.

Blueskiesandrainbows · 01/05/2025 23:04

The OP obviously wants him sacked, it’s so unfair OP to pursue this man and potentially ruin his career and who knows what else in his life because of a drunken comment.

YRBU just for the disparaging inappropriate remarks about the Chair of Governors supposedly being retired.

Thing is even if this is true the 'update' will be made up or OP won't come back. The glee in her posts is so embarrassing it's painful.

whatdoidonowffs · 01/05/2025 23:15

Why don’t we put an end to this ?
can we all bow down to the OP and agree that she is the most tenacious person in the world and she is doing really impactful important work by going after the school/teacher and she should have applause and petals strewn in front of her wherever she walks ?

Ok I’ve read this a few times to check if there is an actual investigation happening…. And there categorically is not. You have received a generic email acknowledging you. Nothing more will happen. Genuinely do not get the ‘smugness’ around a standard response that has likely been sent many times already this year 😂 . The world some people live in 🙈

So eloquent. Thank you. Your words certainly speak for me.

in addition to all that you say about @SophEll, she also sounds like someone with a nice little cushy part time job, with a lot of free time on her hands to plot and scheme. No one with a f/t professional job would have this much time and energy to devote to such nonsense.

Aichek · 01/05/2025 23:41

Of course it's the school's business. He used his position and an interaction with the OP in that position to sexually harass her. I'm a governor and I'd be really pissed off if this got to me as a stage 2 complaint having not been dealt with properly at stage 1. Keep going OP, it's really important men are called out on this behaviour.

Aichek · 01/05/2025 23:43

(I think someone's probably linked to this on an incel forum or similar OP which is why you've had all the red-pill guys turn up)

ForeveraBluebird · 01/05/2025 23:49

I don’t think the Op is helping herself with the they’d better listen to me or else posts. She’s told the school and the relevant bodies, give them time to take action.

Another poster lobbing wholesale insults at everyone with a differing point of view.

Tiswa · 01/05/2025 12:49

The problem I have OP is that yes he made an awful comment but all of this the reaction the smugness is about YOU and your need to win, your need to tell the school that you want it to be investigated.

and again I ask what is it you want. Because the vindication you have about all of this. The meme you have sent is about about feeling that you beat him.

Yes his comment was wrong, yes he shouldn’t have said it but the witch-hunt you are doing just to win is disproportionate and could cause real damage to someone’s career.

Maybe you have a point that damage to a career for a misogynistic sexualised comment is right. But that isn’t what it is for you?

and this thread again is all about winning, proving a point being right.

Ah, I think you’ve explained why the OP has been so poorly supported here. She’s too cocky, too clever, writes too well, doesn’t seem to doubt herself. Who does she think she is! Pesky woman!

ForeveraBluebird · 02/05/2025 00:20

@OakleyAnnie , IDont think the Op is too cocky too clever or a pesky woman.Shes made her complaint , threatening that the school had better take action or else is unnecessary.

No one is a red pill guy...

Just lots of exasperated women who think this is doing actual harm to campaigns against male violence and abuse
