To hate this weather....

I think most people get depressed in winter I am the opposite!! Don't get me wrong I do enjoy the hot weather BUT I feel like everyone is out living their best life's at the beach or in pubs with friends while I live out groundhog day.... Work, pick children up from school, dinner tidy up baths and beds..... That's my life and the sun just makes me so desperate for a social life! In reality I know everyone is probably doing the same old same old but in my head everyone's having fun in the sun except me! Tell me how unreasonable I am being lol

OP posts:
CopperWhite · 30/04/2025 18:18

You are being totally unreasonable. My life is equally uneventful but it’s still better in the sunshine!

Appreciate the simple things like not having to take a coat out with you and washing drying quickly.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 30/04/2025 18:26

Yanbu! September 1st is my New Year and i live for autumn and winter 🎃🎄🎆

Just need to get through this pesky summer 🥺

Dodeedoo · 30/04/2025 18:27

I get what you mean OP. It makes me feel abit lonely x

ouch321 · 30/04/2025 18:32

Thurs and Fri are hot then it dips on Sat and back to usual spring temps by Sun.
It's a brief spell of warm weather. Too early for summer to start now.
But the other day out at 21 degrees just perfect, didn't feel hot, didn't feel cold, just a light breeze. Fantastic.
Hate hot weather but warm weather is the best.

Overtheatlantic · 30/04/2025 18:35

It’s 23 at my house, we have a little fan circulating the air and the back door is open. Utterly blissful.

alwaystrying1234 · 30/04/2025 18:35

I am the same , much prefer the dark, cosy nights under a blanket. I do feel more down in summer.

RaininSummer · 30/04/2025 18:37

It's a gorgeous day but I was in work in an office with no opening windows all day so it may as well have been raining. However I still love this weather and it's about time we saw the sun.

UndermyShoeJoe · 30/04/2025 18:40

I mean honestly it’s a couple of nice but working days.

So it’s been nice but the children are at school I’m working till pick up then maybe a few hours in the garden enjoy not freezing my tits off and planting our crops to eat.

You get 80% of the year of miserable weather 😅

WhatNoRaisins · 30/04/2025 18:40

I think most of my problem with this weather I don't sleep as well. I think it makes me a lot moodier.

CatsLikeBoxes · 30/04/2025 18:44

My only complaint is why is this weather happening when I'm at work? It means it's too hot on public transport at the end of the day, and I can't be outside enjoying it.
Can you take the children to the park or a walk or something to at least get outside for a bit?

I'm totally the same. September 1st feels more like a new year than the actual new year. And I still get the urge to buy a new pencil case.

But I also like being able to go out in just the clothes I've got on without having to assemble coats, hats and so on. And right now I'm loving getting my washing dry outside.

So basically I want it all ways!

Justfreedom · 30/04/2025 18:46

I dont like the summer.
Summer brings my worst migraine`s on and i suffer bad with it.
Along the list of my i dont like summer is the screaming kids.
I love winter and all the weather mumsnet hates.
Rough winds storms rain frost fog ice mist thunder lighting and damp cold dark cold days.
I start to feel better when autumn starts to come in.

UndermyShoeJoe · 30/04/2025 18:47

I mean I love a good storm but we don’t get proper storms just wet, cold and grey most of the time.

SolidNo · 30/04/2025 18:48

I bloody hate the warm weather at home. I love a sun holiday a couple of times a year - but I’m not at work and usually laying by a pool so that’s the difference.

I work from home so am able to get relatively comfy but I just hate having to do life when it’s so warm.

Bring on the ‘ber’ months!

DappledThings · 30/04/2025 18:48

Most of Easter was really nice, around 20. It was 25 here today and forecast to be the same tomorrow. That's way too hot for me and makes me worried about the summer if it's that hot already. Hopefully it's just a blip.

TimeForABreak4 · 30/04/2025 18:48

Well all of us who work are the same, so you're not alone! I just make plans to make the most of my weekend. Sit in the back garden if the suns still on it for awhile when I get home if I have time.

NoBots · 30/04/2025 18:51

Don’t spoilt it for others!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 30/04/2025 18:51

I like the weather at the moment, because it’s not that hot (I live in London for context). When it gets properly hot it can be a bit much these days - or perhaps it’s now I’m perimenopausal and fat that I don’t like the actual hot weather so much. Unless I’m on a beach and pools lazing holiday…

I don’t really mind any weather except for rain and snow - as in I don’t mind the temperature as long as nothing is falling from the sky!

Bingo!

The first "I hate warm weather" thread I have read this year.

Although, we do need rain. Driving over to Manchester the other day I noticed how low the Longdendale reservoirs were, and Yorkshire water are asking us to be sensible with water. The farmers are struggling to grow crops.

This is mine too 😃.

My daughter is on study leave and took herself off the the park with her laptop for a few hours. Came back asking to me to rate her tan 🙄.

My mom is retired and texted to tell me she's out enjoying the sunshine and how glorious it is.

I was stuck working until around 530.

I mean if I was overlady and it was possible I’d decree rain between 11pm-4am only 😅 but regularly.

mumofthemonsters808 · 30/04/2025 19:02

I think the temperature is perfect, I only wish it would last for the weekend.I feel like everyone is sat in a either a beer garden, park or their garden whilst I’m at work.Im watching all the kids playing out in our close and remembering how much I enjoy the Summer nights.

RampantIvy · 30/04/2025 19:02

That would be perfect @UndermyShoeJoe

Anyway, this weather isn't going to last.

Yes it’s making my on edge about the crops I have put out watching the temps plummet again. It’s such a hard line between too early and oops sorry missed your chance ahh.

FreebieWallopFridge · 30/04/2025 19:05

I like the days being lighter for longer, but I cannot stand the heat. I feel claustrophobic, smothered, and constantly uncomfortable.

This weather is about 6 degrees too hot and I’m dreading the inevitable actual heatwave later in the year where we get days on end of over 30 degrees. Hideous.
