Why are Kneecap not in prison?

1000 replies

BlossomBlanket · 29/04/2025 19:49

But Lucy Connelly is? Kneecap told people to kill their MPs. Why have they not been arrested.

(To be very clear, I do not condone violence of any kind towards anyone, I'm just asking as this seems like a double standard, can someone explain?)

Vulnerable (as you have described) young people become radicalised when they are exposed to extreme views. This is why Kneecap is so dangerous. Please research and reflect on this.

Whatabouterry is ignoring the issue at hand (jailing terrorist supporters) and bringing up other irrelevant items. You are adding your own biased, and inaccurate, spin and well.

How on earth is the genocide that is taking place irrelevant to attempts to cancel a band that strongly support peace in Palestine. People around the world feel helpless and distressed at what is happening in Gaza, that is why artists and people are willing to accept their apology and move on to focus on stopping a genocide. I guess this thread will end with calls of terrorist sympathiser, it’s too easy.

Barbadossunset · 05/05/2025 11:36

So they have apologised, said it was taken out of context , said they do not support hamas / hezbolah and do not promote violence.

In what context would “The only good Tory is a dead Tory. Kill your local MP” not mean what it says and how is it not promoting violence?

You should ask the Lib Dems about that. They were the ones who initially put that on an election leaflet.

Where does the faux outrage over Kneecap stop?
They have been doing very well in spite of the efforts to shut them down.
The westies who some are trying to demonise while ignoring the direct death threats made by a sitting MP, one of the biggest donors to the Tories and a columnist for a national newspaper to named individuals are being ignored. What great examples of hypocrisy and hysteria.

Meanwhile, while all this is being discussed the words of Dr. Mike Ryan, CEO of WHO are being largely ignored:
Speaking this week, Dr Ryan described what is happening to the people of Gaza as an “abomination”.
“We are breaking the bodies and the minds of the children of Gaza,” Dr Ryan said.
“We are starving the children of Gaza, because if we don’t do something about it, we are complicit in what is happening before our very eyes.
“We are complicit. We are causing this, you, us and everyone who does nothing about it, it’s horrific.
“The children of Gaza should not have to pay the price, as all children have done in the past, for the sins of anyone around them. This just has to stop.
“Any right-thinking human being will stand up and say, this just must stop. As a doctor, as a physician, as someone watching more than 1,000 children without limbs, thousands of children with spinal cord injuries and severe head injuries from which they’ll never recover, thousands and thousands of children with severe psychological distress that they may never recover from.
“We are watching this unfold before our very eyes and we’re not doing anything about it. As a physician, I’m angry. I’m angry with myself that I’m not doing enough.
“I’m angry with everyone here. I’m angry with you. I’m angry with the world.
“This should not be happening. It cannot continue. We have to stop.

“This is an abomination. It’s an abomination. We have to ask ourselves the question, how much blood is enough to satisfy whatever the political objectives are of any regime.”

Yet some on here have spent days on and on about Kneecap. Dr Ryan is not wrong.

Imustgetupsoon · 05/05/2025 14:35

It is possible to not particularly like or support Kneecap, but to still think they should not be jailed @Wonderberry.
You seem to struggle with that opinion though.

For what it’s worth, I don’t believe they want anyone to get hurt. They don’t support that. They have said so for one thing (repeatedly, and years ago, not just recently).

Imustgetupsoon · 05/05/2025 14:40

I don’t know how to stop it @ColadhSamh .
How do we stop it?

trainplane · 05/05/2025 14:48

Wonderberry · 05/05/2025 14:20

In that case there are 3500 under 5s in Gaza at risk of radicalisation if they don’t succumb to starvation first. I don’t mean to be crass but there is a reason Kneecap are under fire and it is because it assists governments in perpetuating their complicity with Israel, through sale of arms, refusal to divest etc. outrage over kneecap is a smoke screen.

Edited to say thanks to Coladhsamh above who posted Dr Mike Ryan’s words.

When did this happen? Have you got any evidence of this?

ColadhSamh · 05/05/2025 14:58

Maybe if you stepped outside your MN bubble you would have seen it. I have tried to copy and paste it but MN won't accept it. It was used in an election leaflet in Eastbourne.
No surprise given your previous pages of posts that you have concentrated on that rather than for example this quote from Dr. Ryan “This is an abomination. It’s an abomination. We have to ask ourselves the question, how much blood is enough to satisfy whatever the political objectives are of any regime.”

AAAh but Kneecap.... I say Thank God for Kneecap and Dr, Ryan. They are keeping the issue of Gaza alive and no attempts to shut them up are working.

ColadhSamh · 05/05/2025 14:59

Apologies the above was in response to @OpheliaWasntMad . I cannot edit for some reason.

Yikes, didn’t realise that photo would show up so clearly without clicking on the link.
ETA I’ve asked MN to label it as sensitive.

Snarky comments about being in an MN bubble are unhelpful and hypocritical ( you’re on MN too?)
Dr Ryan’s comments are irrelevant to this thread. You need to post in the CITME section)

Nothing you have said justifies the calls to kill MPs .

Thank you - that’s helpful.
Obviously an appalling thing to say .

OpheliaWasntMad · 05/05/2025 15:19

I know many posters on here are in Ireland. Perhaps you’re unaware that there have been several arrests of Iranians in the U.K. as a major terrorist plot was uncovered.
Expressions of support for terrorism have to be taken seriously.

Young people ARE influenced by bands / musicians / online influencers etc . Whether it’s Kneecap promoting terrorism or Andrew Tate promoting misogyny everyone should call it out

Yes, we are all aware the population of Gaza is being, and has been, radicalised by Hamas. This is why Gaza needs to be freed from Hamas, and why we need to deplatform vile imbeciles like Kneecap.

They are starving because Israeli government is starving them, dying because Israeli army is shooting them. Please don’t be deliberately obtuse.

I'm not, I'm pointing out who is doing the radicalisation. Do you have any evidence they are starving? With the amount of food aid that has gone in this would not be the case if Hamas allowed for fair distribution. Once again you are using hyperbole which is irrelevant to the thread.

WhereIsMyJumper · 05/05/2025 14:05

I’m amazed at the mental leap it takes to go from “they shouldn’t have said it but I don’t think they should be jailed for it” to “OMG! TERRORIST SYMPATHISER!!!”

You’re jumping around a bit in your posts.

What do you think the response should be to what was said by the band?

Oh dear. Repeating your hyperbole doesn't make it true. I suggest not relying on social media for your 'information' and questioning the reliability of sources (wasn't this covered in KS3 at school?). Again, irrelevant to this thread too.

Thegreyhound · 05/05/2025 16:51

Wonderberry · 05/05/2025 14:11

This is relevant how? We are talking about not radicalising young people. You are showing an example of 'whatabouterry' at its finest.

Disagree. This isn’t whataboutery- it’s essential to condemn all forms of terrorism. Just as no one should be supportive of Hamas, nor should anyone support the bombing of schools, hospitals and aid ships either. To condemn one without condemning the other is just weird imo

It's fine to disagree, we have free speech. As long as you condemn terrorism. We are therefore in agreement about Kneecap being deplatformed and jailed.

Just as you are unable to justify your claims that people on this thread are terrorist sympathisers, you are going to find it equally impossible to prove that the deliberate starvation and blocking of aid is untrue.

It’s getting very boring now.
The question is- are YOU able to condemn all forms of terror and do YOU agree that Netanyahu and Gallant should be in jail for their monstrous crimes against humanity?

I’ll repost part of the the quote from Dr Mike Ryan, CEO of WHO, you seem to have missed it. I don’t think he relies on social media for information .
