Who do you think of if I mention the song Vienna?

AIBU to think most people think of Ultravox if asked "Who sang Vienna?"
My DD reckons more people think of Billy Joel.(I didn't even know he had a much earlier single out called Vienna)

I forgot about the Ultravox one, just played a bit of it and it reminded me how much I hate it.

But I’m in my 40s and I would also say this means nothing to me 😄

The most well known and popular song is by Ultravox so you are correct. The Billy Joel song is far superior.

I just asked Google to play Vienna, and my DD asked Siri to play it. Both came up with the Billy Joel version. Well, I suppose it's because both of those search engines are a lot younger than me.🤣🤣🤣🤣

The Billy Joel version for me as I’ve always loved the song.

It’s in the film 13 going on 30 which Ariana Grande referenced in a video a few years ago. After that, both the film and the song by Billy Joel became popular with younger people. Sorry if anyone else has said this, I haven't read the full thread,

When was Billy Joel's Vienna ever released as a single? It only ever seems to have been a B side to Just the Way You Are, so I am unclear where you are getting your figures from.

@SinnerBoy ,Billy Joel did not cover Ultravox's Vienna. He had a different song called Vienna which was released in 1977(before Ultravox).

Had no idea about Billy Joel, initially thought it was a bit left field for him to do a cover of Ulravox, but from reading the comments can see two completely different songs with the same title.
