For wanting to complain about this member of staff in Sainsburys - sorry long

I went to Sainsburys yesterday with my DD. I wasn't feeling too well so wanted to get in and out as quick as possible and had a short list of things we really needed. About half way round I started feeling awful - I was sick, couldn't feel parts of my body and everything had gone all blurry. DD was really scared but had the sense to run up to a member of staff and say "my mummy's not very well" (she's only 2+7). The woman turned round to her and said "she's just drunk you've got a really stupid mummy have't you" then she came up to me and told me I should leave the store immediately and take my child before she called the police.

By this time I couldn't talk properly, was crying with pain and could hardly walk. I knew by that stage I had a full blown migraine such as I've only had twice in my life before. I was mortified about being sick. Another woman stopped and said she was a nurse and and after that I don't remember much until I foundmyself in an ambulance with a very scared DD and the lovely nurse who'd insisted on cming to teh hospital with me.

I probably looked drunk but should I complain about the woman's reaction? DD keeps saying "mummy was sick and lady was horrid to me" and crying.

LaVieEnRose · 17/05/2008 18:49

Definitely make an official complaint about her. The bitch! I would want her sacked!

anorak · 17/05/2008 18:50

Yes complain. That was completely out of order.

MargaretMountford · 17/05/2008 18:50

wtf ? how awful for you and dd - am so sorry

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 18:50

I would absolutely complain, that is appalling

your dd sounds a star, what a clear headed little person to tell another adult you needed help
shame the person she told was an idiot
I hope you feel better now?

expatinscotland · 17/05/2008 18:50

YANBU.

I would complain in writing.

How shocking.

I hope you're better now.

thefortbuilder · 17/05/2008 18:50

please complain, i'm just appalled by her behaviour!

3littlefrogs · 17/05/2008 18:50

Definitely complain. That is shocking. Even if she thought you were drunk, she should have summoned a first aider and made sure you and your child were safe.

Ledodgy · 17/05/2008 18:50

OMG definately complain in fact i'd be tempted to go to the local press!

cocolepew · 17/05/2008 18:51

yes! what a cow.

constancereader · 17/05/2008 18:51

Complain. What a cow. You were ill and you needed help and she gave you that response

Even if you were drunk, what a way to speak to your daughter!

Hope you are feeling better now.

Good god that is awful. Your poor daughter. She should be getting a medal for doing what she did at that age. You should complain. What a evil person. She must have a bloody awful life if that's what her first thought was.

Notalone · 17/05/2008 18:54

OMG - that is truly horrendous. What a stupid stupid woman and what a brave DD you have.

Complain asap and let us know what happens. Will you know how to identify her?

Lozza70 · 17/05/2008 18:54

I really don't think that you should have been treated like that by anyone. I would report the matter to the store manager as by the sounds of things you were taken away from the store in an ambulance.

LittleWonder · 17/05/2008 18:55

find out her name and tell us where she works!

Your DD is a star!

savoycabbage · 17/05/2008 18:57

That is so true. Even if you were bloody well drunk she shouldn't have said that to your child, she should have helped her. Please complain and let us know what happens too. I am so furious I don't think I will sleep tonight now!

jellyforbrains · 17/05/2008 18:57

What an awful woman. Definitely complain.

CombustibleLemon · 17/05/2008 18:58

Yes, definitely complain. She thought you were really drunk so she told you to leave the store in sole charge of a 2 year old . She insulted you to your child. Horrible, stupid woman.

I hope you're feeling better today. Your DD was wonderful to go for help. she found such a stupid staff member.

funnypeculiar · 17/05/2008 18:59
