This also means trans men have to use the women’s toilets.. I’m sure if we wait a few months there’ll be plenty of threads complaining about beardy men in the ladies because they were born with a uterus.

Please stop weaponising female people with transgender identities who take testosterone against other female people who want single sex spaces.

This is not the gotcha that you believe it is. You are repeating weak and harmful sound bites from extreme activists who want to distress women and children. This argument is actually rather misogynistic when you start to scrutinise it.

Who here is excited about big, bearded trans men using the women’s toilets? Unintended consequences, anyone?

Just you I guess.

I was told off recently on a first aid course for role playing a 999 call and identifying the patient as a woman as I might be misgendering the 60 year old unconscious person with breasts called Jen that I had spent the morning working with.

The trainer was a young man (he gave us his pronouns at the start) in his early 20s.

Hopefully this bollocks (male) will stop soon.

😳😑

I am obviously a lone voice here, however I just want to make the point not all women agree with the ruling - I am a woman, by the way in case you wondered. I have friends I care about who will be affected by this, and it makes me sad - and worried for them.

It's time for you to stand up for women instead of helping to erode your own existence.

I’m sad and worried that people like you would prioritise the interests of group of ‘special’ men over the rights and dignities of all girls and women.

Oh well. Like they told rape victims to 'reframe their trauma' if they wanted female only medical care, they'll just have to do the same.

For every masculine looking beardy transman, there are hundreds of teenage girls in binders that you would be putting in the male toilets.

Before you use a group to point score, it's worth looking more closely at the actual group.

Well, no, because teenage girls can use female toilet. Obviously.
Although, since they ARE transitioning to male, surely using the men's room is part of their new gender expression?

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 22/04/2025 13:28

And if Labour hadn't backtracked, there would be even more of an outcry! They can't win, can they!

These big, burly trans men I keep hearing about - the trans men I meet have been short, clearly female up close, and with the kind of facial hair I could grow in a week as a menopausal woman.

Seriously, if there is an issue why your male friends cannot use male toilets then there is a significant issue that society must address.

So, please tell us and maybe we can help direct you and your friends to the groups who will be able to help.

Yes. and if they don't feel safe, they can campaign for a third space. Males do not belong in women's spaces

[Edited for typo]

Our local Sainsbury's can't even keep a single toilet clean and working, I cannot imagine how they'll find the staff to build a third space.
I don't disagree, I just cannot see how it's going to happen.

This makes me sad - do we really want transwomen to have to use men's toilets, and transmen to have to use women's toilets? This will put transwomen at risk - I hate the hysteria that has arisen over this issue.

Why do you care more about transwomen and their hypothetical risk in the men's toilets and the real risk of women not able to challenge men in the women's loos? Why are men's feelings more important to you than women's safety?

I don’t mind sharing a toilet with women aka transmen.

Well as we've seen from all this madness, when men make demands, the whole world scramble to comply.

This also means trans men have to use the women’s toilets.. I’m sure if we wait a few months there’ll be plenty of threads complaining about beardy men in the ladies because they were born with a uterus.

Given that trans people are about 0.05% of the population (that’s everyone identifying as trans, which means many things) that ‘trans men’ are a tiny subset of that group and that trans men undergoing hormonal and invasive surgery to maintain actually passing as actual men (an even tinier proportion of that already small group of trans men) I’d say this is not going to be an actual real-world issue that causes problems for the majority of the population. Anyone actually passing as male will in practice easily be able to use male loos (vice versa women) and I would expect in any case the challenges to even those who don’t pass will be a fraction of the overall use by non passing trans . Given all this, if even 100 cases of a trans person being challenged for toilet use happened I would be surprised. What I can see happening is the ‘trans activist community’ now goading women by taking every opportunity to push boundaries so that as many of these vanishingly rare occupancies receive publicity as possible - thereby inflaming this toxic debate and making things worse for trans people.

I have never seen a transman that you can’t tell is a woman.

The battle may be won but the war isn't - the Mail on Sunday front page headline was: Ministers in Whatsapp Plot to Defy Trans Ruling.

The alleged culprits were Dame Angela Eagle, Chris Murray, Steve Race and Chris Bryant. I suspect David Lammy still thinks that women are 'hoarding their rights'. A lot of people in the government are intent on overriding the ruling...

That's because the Mail wanted to use this as something else to beat Labour with. The mail obviously don't give a fuck about women's rights. But this issue was an easy win because it ties into their readership's anti woke agenda.

However labour aren't acting like the right want them to (at long fucking last) so the right wing press are scrabbling around for some ways to still use this to damage Labour. If it was a Tory MP saying that trans women shouldn't use men's toilets it would be front page news tomorrow however I guarantee this won't be the case.

I haven’t seen any others about this article which was released half an hour ago.

There have been two other threads (that I've seen) about the SC judgment itself, but this is the first I've seen about BP having to do a screeching u-turn on what she's said previously. However, that's how politics works and cabinet members always have to toe the party line and uphold the independence of the judiciary.

Women with a beard. They don’t turn into men in terms of size.

The judgment says that if a trans person ( so usually FTM) have transitioned to such an extent that they look like a man they cannot use female facilities. The judgment is extremely clear and has dealt with all the 'Gotcha's' That is unfortunate for the trans man, but if they can 'pass' so well they should have no problem in the men's. Men are not threatened by a biological woman in the loos. They also are the ones who should be challenged if members of their own sex are abusive to them. Men are the problem, so men have to deal with it. Not women. The best solution is for third spaces.

Kindersurprising · 22/04/2025 13:37

Can I ask why it is that transwomen are allegedly very unsafe in men’s toilets yet transmen are perfectly safe, including those who don’t ’pass’?

Indeed. It’s a total self-own. It’s just made it easier for men to walk into the women’s toilets, presenting as men.

Well, what would be ideal is if TRAs used their energy to lobby for trans-specific facilities and services - separate and distinct to male and female facilities and services.
