Use men’s or women’s toilets based on biological sex, minister says

This makes me sad - do we really want transwomen to have to use men's toilets, and transmen to have to use women's toilets? This will put transwomen at risk - I hate the hysteria that has arisen over this issue.

Trans women are men, and most still have their penis, 5ft 10 tall in a bad wig.

I do not want them in my safe space or round my teenage daughters. Nor do I want them in women’s sport.

If they feel threatened by a member of their sex, then call out the male population instead of invading women’s spaces.

Can you not see the misogyny.

Yes that is exactly what we want. If transwomen are at risk it’s a man issue and they need to sort out a way of making it safer. The answer isn’t taking away women’s rights.

If transwomen (males) are at risk in the men's loos then that is unfortunate but it is not a problem for women to solve. Women are not human shields. There have been campaigns from the GC side for third spaces but the trans women wouldn't accept it - because they don't really want to "feel safe peeing", they just want access to women's spaces for validation.

Do you really want transwomen in women's prisons, rape crisis centres, sports and changing rooms? Because that's what this is really about - the loos thing is just to minimize things and make women's concerns seem trivial.

Is it only (biological) women you label hysterical, or will you use the same choice of words to describe the TRA pushback on this?

Do females belong in male spaces?

No, so transmen can use the facilities for women, seeing as they are female.

Onetimeonlyftw · 22/04/2025 13:17

Who here is excited about big, bearded trans men using the women’s toilets? Unintended consequences, anyone?

So what if there are? If you're not interested, just scroll on...

Can I ask what is the risk that you believe those male people face by using male single sex spaces?

Has there been any statistics or reviews of evidence that show that there is an issue? For instance, what makes this group of male people more vulnerable than any other vulnerable male group such as elderly, male people of particular religious beliefs, frail and ill male people?

And if there is such an issue, why haven't the government done something about it?

Do females belong in male spaces?

Not if the male space has been designated as one specially for male people using the criteria under the EA.

TeenagersAngst · 22/04/2025 13:19

It feels to me that the SC ruling wasn't sufficient. The slogan used to be TWAW, now it will be TWABW (trans women are biological women).

We need to be able to articulate biological sex and gender and how they are distinct from one another. These people really think they are born in the wrong body or have changed sex or some other nonsense. So the SC ruling means little to them.

heldinadream · 22/04/2025 13:20

This also means trans men have to use the women’s toilets.. I’m sure if we wait a few months there’ll be plenty of threads complaining about beardy men in the ladies because they were born with a uterus.

For every masculine looking beardy transman, there are hundreds of teenage girls in binders that you would be putting in the male toilets.

Before you use a group to point score, it's worth looking more closely at the actual group.

It’s not ‘hysteria’ to expect male people to use men’s toilets. If they’re ‘at risk’ from men, why would you ask girl and women to budge up and let men into their spaces? Why not ask men to be kinder?

And in your world, how do we know who the ‘nice’ ones are? Men as a sex class are responsible for most of the sexual and violent crime and once you create a loophole that lets one in, you let them all in. So women’s toilets (or changing rooms, or hospital wards, or anywhere that females are vulnerable) cease to become a place for women. They become a candy shop for any opportunist or predatory male. No. The only way to mitigate the risk for girls and women is to exclude ALL men, including the ones that wear dresses.

For all the labour bashing, the trans rights movement came to a head during the Tory governments. If the Tories wanted to protect women then they could have done that any time. They didn't want to, they wanted to keep this as a wedge issue to use to attack Labour. They do not care about women

Almost NONE OF THE PARTIES care about women (although props to SDP and Communists) - thank the Lord I’ve got a respectable independent to vote for in the upcoming elections because otherwise I was spoiling my ballot again.

Ablondiebutagoody · 22/04/2025 12:55

The whole thing is laughable isn't it? How did we get into a situation where the Prime Minister thinks that women can have a penis, men a cervix, and the Supreme Court needs to clarify what male and female means under equality legislation? Nuts.

Indeed.

Which is why an independent body need to undertake an investigation into how this happened, why it happened, what the consequences were, and how to stop it happening again.

They also need to apologise to all of the women and men who’s lives have been negatively impacted (to different extents) by the Starmer (women have penises), lammy (men have a cervix), Butler, Nandy, Eagle fckwittery.

Yeah, because they're all big and beefy 🤣 Anyway, despite all the focus on transwomen, it's transmen that miss out here, because didn't the judgement clarify that transmen can also be removed from female toilets? But of course, no outrage about that, because misogyny.

Indianajet · 22/04/2025 13:21

I am obviously a lone voice here, however I just want to make the point not all women agree with the ruling - I am a woman, by the way in case you wondered. I have friends I care about who will be affected by this, and it makes me sad - and worried for them.

And what about the risk to women through sharing with them, given transwomen are more likely to be sex offenders than ‘men-men’?

I'm guessing it's the same risk that biological women worry about. Which is precisely WHY women want to keep their own single sex spaces, single sex!

We know not all women agree. It is for all women though. Not all women thought female suffrage was necessary either.

Why are transmen all big suddenly? The ones I’ve seen have all been about my size, because I’m an average height woman…..

This absolutely sums up the duality of this debate:

trans women (men) can’t use male toilets because they fear sexual violence and just plain old violence - oh no so much sympathy etc

women don’t want trans women (men) in women’s toilets because they fear sexual violence and just plain old violence - Evil TERF bitchez suck my lady dick - you’ll have to fight me to stop me eyc

why is one all sad and understandable and the other abhorrent and transphobic?

because one is men demanding their‘ ‘rights’ and the other women?
