Trans protest- sharing for balance

1000 replies

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:47

There’s a thread sharing some really awful images from the protest, so I wanted to share some positive ones for the sake of some perspective/ balance.
A lot of people are really understandably incredibly angry and overwhelmed by the events of the last few days. But most people who support trans rights absolutely don’t condone fighting oppression and injustice with misogyny.

How is not wanting them in female spaces not wanting them to exist?

Edited

This is always a good question and I look forward to finally seeing a logically coherent answer to it as I read through this thread.

placemats · 20/04/2025 15:59

@Tandora

Do you walk alongside people who promote capital punishment by hanging and witch burning?

Would you like to see capital punishment return?

Lucylongcat · 20/04/2025 15:59

If it hasn't escaped people's notice, the whole point is about NOT wanting to see knobs in women's loos! Why would women start asking random strangers to whip their willies out?

The logical end point is that men stay out of women's toilets because that's the way the social contract bloody works!

Minuethippo · 20/04/2025 16:00

SeedyHotel · 20/04/2025 15:55

Don’t be daft, they have a simple cheek swab now.
No need to look I anyone’s pants, as people like you are so fond of suggesting.

cheek swab? So now we’re DNA-testing every woman who doesn’t fit a narrow stereotype? That’s not the win you think it is.

  1. Chromosomes aren’t binary. Intersex people exist (1.7% of the population—same as redheads), and even XX/XY doesn’t always match phenotype. Should we bar XXY women from bathrooms too?
  2. This still targets women of color. Testosterone levels vary naturally by race—Black women average higher T than white women. Your ‘solution’ would flag ciswomen as ‘suspicious.’
  3. Logistically absurd. Are we swabbing schoolgirls? Rape survivors? Grandmas at the public pool?

Stop pretending this is about ‘science.’ It’s about policing women’s bodies—and the ‘tests’ you push would hurt far more cis women than trans ones

PastIsAnotherCountry · 20/04/2025 16:00

cardibach · 20/04/2025 15:41

Do you think none of the women who are GC have read or understood any science? You must know that the bulk of it says the there are only 2 sex classes in mammals?
Someone here is radicalised. It’s not people who are GC.

Agreed.

But it’s well established that slavish adherence to revealed truths, and without question, is a fundamental part of Lifton’s 8 Criteria for Thought Reform (aka brainwashing).

Minuethippo · 20/04/2025 15:51

do you propose genital inspections for every ‘athletic’ or ‘hairy’ woman? Because that’s the logical endpoint of your ‘verifiable sex’ standard—and it’s grotesque.

It's actually a one-time cheek swab. Hope that sets your twisted mind at rest.

Arran2024 · 20/04/2025 16:00

You are not happy with the way the court judgement went but to say it is akin to facism is utter hyperbole and you and your fellow marchers yesterday are just acting like entitled toddlers. The judgement interpreted the law in one respect. It has been made clear that trans people are still protected in law.

The behaviour yesterday was appalling.

Where it's relevant, e.g. in women's sport, sex can be verified with a simple cheek swab, nothing grotesque about it at all, and no genitals need be inspected at all.

Outside of contexts where testing would be required, women rely on the good will of men not to use women's single sex spaces such as toilets. I hereby declare, hand on heart, that I will respect men's single sex spaces such as toilets.

It doesn't have to be complicated, Minuethippo - sticking to provable scientific fact and showing respect would go a long way to sort things out.

BobbyBiscuits · 20/04/2025 16:00

Of course not everyone doing a protest is violent.

Scentbird · 20/04/2025 16:01

Again who are these predatory men?

because it sounds like people at the protest are fully aware that men may call themselves transwomen to access females spaces. Like Isla Bryson. but have decided they aren’t transwomen. They are men. Sounds transphobic to deny that someone claiming they are a transwoman, is not a transwoman.

So how do we know which are the actual trans women and who are the predatory men in a dress? And if TRAs can decide who is really a trans woman and who is just a predatory man in a dress, and that’s fine. why can’t women have an opinion on what is a woman?

TWAW doesn’t really work if there’s ‘pretend’ trans women. Why don’t TRAs concentrate on those ‘predatory men’ that ruining it for them? Is it because their focus is actually just taking spaces from them and forcing them to comply? Because the focus is being able to access those spaces. Beggars belief that TRAs also know that predatory males are a big issue. But focused on hating women for having an opinion on their own rights.

Yeah that’s makes sense!

Let me try again,

There is the judgement itself.

Then there is the way the judgement is being used and interpreted.

Despite certain posters on here pretending that they already know and understand what this judgement is all about, having fully read it. The fact is that even major legal organisations have not been confident to put out full statements/ interpretations yet. They have all said we need time to go through and analyse/ digest.

The media have already been widely reporting on this judgement in a way which which is misleading . Institutions have already come out and made statements to the effect that they will be responding based on these interpretations.

The judgement has been widely interpreted (on both sides) as effectively banning trans women from all spaces designated for women, and declaring that instead they must used those associated with their biological sex . This is what has incited these protests.

Asking Again.

Astrabees · 20/04/2025 16:02

I presume that it would be quite legal to offer only unisex toilets? I recently visited Copenhagen where most of the toilets in the museums and tourist attractions are like this, rows of cubicles sharing was basins, no urinals. This is also the case at a theatre and concert venue we go to. It doesn't work in practice because without urinals the males take a long time to go, but it does mean that anyone, whatever they think they are can use them.

I assumed you were on about sport, because they already do this with no need for a “genital inspection”.

Honestly, we can tell who’s male or female with very high accuracy, so whilst some people (ahem) appear to have wet dreams and suggest genital inspections whenever they can, most of us wouldn’t ever need it.

Trans people rarely pass for their desired sex, despite that other delusional pile of lies we’re told. Yes, even TM with beards and muscles.
Humans are fine tuned to recognise the sex of fellow humans.

The piss protest as well? Lovely!

It’s not misleading. You compared it to apartheid, which did have legal backing. In which case you know what the judgement said. Otherwise why would not you have pulled apartheid out of nowhere, if nothing about apartheid and GC women/ this ruling have anything in common.

This black clad, masked man with a hand at a woman's throat doesn't look like he's trying to have a respectful discussion.

Edited

Fuck! That is grim! I hope this woman is ok!

So, have we had to discussion on just what all these many people who have denounced the violent signs since did on the day when they saw the signs? Did they approach those people and say, 'this is not appropriate, please don't show your sign here?'

And if not, why not?

Because if no one who is supporting this group is telling these activists to their face that they are wrong to be carry such signs, why the fuck should any of us believe that the same people who have attended the protest are being truthful when they say the signs are abhorrent? Why is the behaviour tolerated?

Oh god, stop it. Please.

1.There's no such thing as intersex, it's called a DSD - difference of sexual developments. And even then, they are sex specific. Btw, anyone with a Y chromosome is male.

2.No it does not. It's highly unlikely that even biological women with naturally high levels of testosterone will come anywhere near a biological man's levels of testosterone.

It's got nothing to do with stereotypes. ~all~ women applying to compete in a female category would, like they used to, undertake a one time cheek swab. It has nothing to do with testosterone levels and doesn't target anyone.

There are already rules and guidelines to deal with DSDs.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 20/04/2025 16:05

The OP is clearly a GF, I don't know why people are engaging.

When is the march to celebrate the SC result - let’s have some fun!

A few days ago I would have said this would just be rubbing the TRAs faces in it and slightly cruel but now I think maybe the only way for them to get it is to rub their faces in it.

OP, I understand your view, I'm just not interested in it anymore. Believe what you like, I don't give a shiny shit.

How can you judge the accuracy of the interpretation of a judgement you haven't read?

I’ve read enough of it to know that many of the headlines have been entirely misleading.

I do not yet have a detailed understanding of its full implications. Nor do you despite your bad faith posturing and pretensions on this thread.

The judgement has been widely interpreted by both sides as effectively mandating the exclusion of trans women from all spaces designated for women: I do not believe it actually does this, based on what I have read , however I cannot say for certain as I do not have a detailed understanding of all the legal implications at this moment in time. Nor do you.

Who is trying to make trans women disappear?

Show quote history
Every single person who says that trans women are men for one.

This is a common and disingenuous claim. Transwomen are not women, they male, by definition. Saying so does not make them disappear in a puff of smoke.
