Just this really
obviously not service dogs

but why all of a sudden is it ok for dogs to be allowed places where others are eating?!?

Yawn. Just comment on one of the other threads moaning about this.

Newgirls · 19/04/2025 18:09

I do think some of them look miserable squashed under tables.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 19/04/2025 18:09

Not really all of a sudden is it. Stop going to restaurants if you don’t like it.

ElfDragon · 19/04/2025 18:09

Shopping centres too - cant be a good day out for the poor dogs!

There seems to be quite an influx of dogs everywhere, really. It makes my life difficult (adult dd with learning disability has a phobia of dogs), and is ever increasing it seems.

Sirzy · 19/04/2025 18:11

I don’t mind it as long as they are well trained.

But just as if your child is kicking off if your dog is barking at everyone who goes past then please take them out.

we went out for a meal last week and there was a lovely dog at a table nearby, happily sat not creating any issues. Another couple came in with two dogs who spent 10 minutes barking at the other dog (who did little more than raise his head!). In the end the owner of the well behaved dog ended up taking him out which was unfair on her but she understandably didn’t want other diners disturbed.

Or people could stop taking animals to people places.

The dog brigade will try to say your child shouldn’t be out not the dog

they always compare dogs to children.

They aren't allowed everywhere though. Thinking of the town next to our village where there are loads of cafes and most don't allow dogs.

Have just come back from a week in New York, now that is a place that does allow dogs everywhere (apart from grass in parks oddly). Saw a fabulous great dane with dalmation like markings in Wholefoods and lots of dogs in Sephora which must be a risk with wagging tails and lots of make up to knock off shelves.

If it’s a dog friendly restaurant then it’s a dog and people place.

Hardly all of a sudden. It's been the case for years.

RealityContinuesToRuinMyLife · 19/04/2025 18:14

Agree.
We’ve been dog owners for years and never felt the need to take our dogs everywhere with us.
Ive seen people drive their dogs to the retail park just so they can take them in to Pets at home, and then the idiot owners stand there whilst the poor NMW workers clean up their dog shit.

The last time I read a thread on this topic, a dog had crapped in the cafe where a pp had ordered lunch. Disgusting.

Just leave your fucking dogs at home or sit at an outside table!

I refuse to eat at places that have dogs inside now, I don’t want some pooch chasing it’s puppuccino cup around my feet on it’s stupid extendable lead whilst it tries to lick the last of the froth out, with it’s idiot owner giving me a simpering smile.

Heatherjayne1972 · 19/04/2025 18:14

I agree. Dogs should not be allowed in food establishments
( except service dogs )

I also think all dogs should be muzzled when outside of their home

Sleepalldaylong · 19/04/2025 18:15

Ffs, not this again

This.

I take my dog to places that allow dogs. If they're not allowed, I either tie her up outside, or go in another time if I'm going to be a while (more than 5 minutes).

quantim · 19/04/2025 18:19

Me too. We were looking around an art gallery in York yesterday, there were two labs in there. They absolutely stank

I thought the same when I went to NYC

This is great news! More room for smiley friendly people when you're not there with your miserable grumpiness. 🥳

EffinMagicFairy · 19/04/2025 18:21

Businesses need to survive, we have a dog, if we go for evening meal or specifically shopping, she’s left at home, if we’ve taken her for morning walk and fancy a coffee or breakfast we take her in, if nice we will always choose to be outside. We can only do this if they allow dogs otherwise we would come home and have coffee/breakfast.

onetwothreefourfive11 · 19/04/2025 18:21

Agreed

Yes just to note until last year I had a lovely staffy for 14 years

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants that aren’t dog friendly. If I hated dogs as much as you seem to then I would just go to those rather than get myself in such a tizz that I felt the need to rant online about it.

YeOldeGreyhound · 19/04/2025 18:24

If they are allowed there, then they are doing nothing wrong.

There is a tiny but lovely cafe local to me that has seen a boom in trade when they made it clear they were dog friendly (they always were but there was no signs up). My dog likes going there. She has a treat and lots of fuss.

JustFeedMeCake · 19/04/2025 18:24

Dreamingi · 19/04/2025 18:12

Well the owners of the business allow and encourage dogs , so why should people not go there? That’s daft! Why don’t you just go somewhere that dogs aren’t allowed? There are places like this you know.

TennesseeStella · 19/04/2025 18:25

YANBU. There's no need for a dog to be in a cafe. Or a charity shop, or a gift shop, or the Co-op which are all places I have encountered dogs recently thanks to their entitled idiotic owners.

Some Pets at Home have vets in. Also groomers. You pretty much have to have your dog there for that 🙄
