She really doesn’t. She has beautiful kept porcelain teeth. 😍

You're completely nose blind. Completely.

A dog is a lot of people’s personality. Look at me, I’ve got a dog.

ha ha ha THIS

Also those saying about children being terrors. It’s the same people. The same adults who are shitty parents are shitty dog owners.

My point was we live in a Human Society (yes on Planet Earth).

And I was making the point that screaming kids are often more annoying than quiet dogs. Which is quite factual yet you felt the need to say my comment was stupid. I feel yours is more stupid. HTH

YABU.

Business owners are entitled to run their business as they see fit. You have no entitlement to dictate what policies they have in place or who or what they allow inside their premises.

Clearly, being pet-friendly has some benefits to the business. If you don't like it, go elsewhere.

From threads like this, I have observed that is dog haters that make the fact they hate dogs part of their personality. I mean, they even have to start threads about it.

The dog brigade will try to say your child shouldn’t be out not the dog

they always compare dogs to children.

I have both. It is nice for us to be able to go out as a family. We don't go to places where the child and/or dog won't be welcome (we do leave the dog home for some things) if we are going out all day as a family.

There are still lots of places that don't allow dogs (or children). Go there. You have the choice, vote with your feet and go places that only allow in what makes you comfortable.

Before we had DD we didn't go child friendly places because we didn't want to eat surrounded by kids.

It's not rocket science. You are an adult with agency over your own visits to places. Don't go somewhere if you disagree with their policies.

I live in a very dog friendly part of England - lots of spaniels. Never heard anyone have an issue in rl, just on mn. Most pubs seem to have dog areas and non dog areas.

I like dogs. But I like them as dogs. Not shopping companions or restaurant buddies or drinking buddies.

Because what are people going to say to your face? Most of us are too polite but will moan on here where it's anonymous.
It doesn't take a genius...

Really not. She’s not old or ill and has very well looked after teeth why would she have bad breath anymore than you?

My dog made an old man’s day today. She was sitting in the cafe we were in and an old man on a walker came over twice to pet her. He had tears in his eyes. 😍 They bring so much joy.

Then don't take a dog with you then.

You have. It's fact.

Screamingabdabz · 19/04/2025 18:59

Morons who compare children to animals just aren’t worth listening to.

I agree with you op. When I was growing up people left dogs at home - there is no reason they have to be in shops and cafes, it’s disgusting. Smell, noise, allergies, dog hair, dog slobber and worse…Yuck.

So you've never been on an outside kind of day out where you've taken your dog (cos otherwise they're at home all day) and needed lunch?

UndermyShoeJoe · 19/04/2025 18:56

But in the old days you’d leave dogs at home or tied up outside the shop. Now you’d worry about them being stolen (no I’m not leaving £2k worth if dog outside a shop) and we also now know that it’s not good to leave them home for hours, which definitely happened years ago. Also, can’t leave them in the car. So, of course, people take their dogs.

I was surprised Clark’s village is completely dog friendly in all the shops. I’d never take my dogs there as they are happier in the fields and would find it stressful but other breeds would happily bimble about.

AngelinaFibres · 19/04/2025 19:00

The tide is turning in my local town. Several cafes that allowed dogs now don't. Some will allow them in the outside area but not inside. Wetherspoons bans them completely . Absolutely fabulous. Can't stand them in food areas.

DancingOctopus · 19/04/2025 19:01

Last time I commented on a thread like this, citing my autistic daughter's fear of dogs, I had a poster laugh at my comments.
I am with you, OP.

MrsDoubtfire123 · 19/04/2025 19:01

There are so many more places that don’t allow dogs. Just go to one of those !!!

Cheesesteakyum · 19/04/2025 19:02

I don’t mind it in cafes etc if they’re well behaved usually; however we were out to lunch last week at a place I’ve never been to before and a dog kept barking from under the table as it was being ignored, it then proceeded to pee on the floor as the occupants were leaving (maybe why it was barking?), waitress didn’t seem to mind cleared it all up but when I saw her clearing it up and the table, including the dogs water bowl and then bringing peoples food out with definitely not enough time to have washed hands we left. It did make me think about the hygiene side of things.

saveforthat · 19/04/2025 18:14

Hardly all of a sudden. It's been the case for years.

I’m 60 and have been seeing dogs in cafes, restaurants and pubs since I was a young child.

If you don’t like it, go to a place where they don’t allow dogs, or stay at home.

Iwannakeepondancing · 19/04/2025 19:02

I love dogs
I have a dog and I like taking her places.. she’s smaller than a cat and an angel. My best friends dog is a New foundland… he’s massive and not trained.
So I feel there is a massive difference!

We have been to two separate food places for lunch recently and both times the owners dog appeared and sat on our lap 😂! We weren’t offended but I can see why people would be as they’re hairy and dirty and not everyone likes dogs!

EG94 · 19/04/2025 19:02

Doesn’t bother me. Many places around me are segregated dog and non dog. I don’t take my dogs because one of them can’t shut the fuck up so I wouldn’t ruin everyone else’s experience and stress myself just because I can.

another idiot here who finds shitty unruly gently parented kids a bigger problem than a sleeping dog. 🤷🏼‍♀️

perhaps the parents could take a leaf out of my book. If your dog and or child can’t behave don’t take them and ruin everyone’s else’s time.

Edited

No when we had dogs we planned our days accordingly which didn’t involve dragging then markets or shops and pubs.

We went to places where we could let them run and have fun and take food with us. If we wanted a pubby beach walk the dogs did not come.

Withoutfearorfavour · 19/04/2025 19:03

I agree we took Our out one time and it did a shit in the middle of the restaurant. I’ve never been mortified in my life.
Obviously cleared it up and left as fast as possible, but yeah, not good
