Just this really
obviously not service dogs

but why all of a sudden is it ok for dogs to be allowed places where others are eating?!?

Yes
three sentances is definitely a rant.🙄

Why did you post what you did then if you weren’t having a moan and wanted to elicit a reaction?
😂

A local garden centre announced a ban on non service dogs and the owners were outraged. Cancel my membership I won’t be back, if doggy isn’t welcome I’m not welcome. Bat shit 💩

The reason they banned the dogs, dogs knocking over items, jumping on display furniture, shitting and pissing inside owners not clearing, fights between dogs. Fights between dog owners.

What does a dog get out of going to a garden centre? Or a restaurant or a shop other than a walk in an over crowded place that in some cases smell like food they cannot have and loud drunk adults/children playing.

We had the same here, they stopped letting dogs in as the were shitting on the floor of the gift shop and owners where just leaving it for the staff. They also had loads of things knocked over. They lost a lot of business because of it but I 100% support them.

Oh god, our local Costa have started to allow dogs. I genuinely don’t have an issue if they sit under the table quietly. But there was a group of 3 young women (20s I’d guess) with a bloody dog that just barked all the bloody time. I was there for perhaps half an hour and they were there when I arrived and still there when I left. The staff should REALLY say something.

I hate the mums in Costa complete with masseeeeve prams who think it’s ok to sit there for hours ordering one drink whilst their kids run riot and make a racket.

Planetmonster · 19/04/2025 18:39

Went out for nice breakfast - young couple with dog come in, dog barks a lot. Couple Don’t notice?!? I say’ can you stop the dog barking?’. They say ‘oh no he always does that’.

WTF

so fucking aggravating! We hate your barky dogs !

IsawwhatIsaw · 19/04/2025 18:39

There’s been a huge increase in dog ownership over the last decade, dogs are everywhere now.
I like dogs, if I could I’d maybe get one, but I’m allergic, the asthmatic wheezing type. We went to a cafe yesterday that was previously dog free, now dogs are allowed, so we had to leave.
where I live there is now no cafe locally that doesn’t allow dogs….

To those comparing a dog to a child,or children please have a quiet word with yourselves

Have a word with yourself if you are really pretending a dog quietly sitting under a table is more annoying than a screaching kids being ignored by its parents. Do little kids even enjoy restaurants any more than dogs do? No, absolutely not.

WaltzingWaters · 19/04/2025 18:40

Shopping centres too - cant be a good day out for the poor dogs!

There seems to be quite an influx of dogs everywhere, really. It makes my life difficult (adult dd with learning disability has a phobia of dogs), and is ever increasing it seems.

This. I look after an adult with SEN who is extremely scared of dogs. Not too bad when on a lead, but terrified when they’re off a lead. It’s so difficult finding places to go now where there won’t be dogs. Even walking through town there’s often dogs not on a lead.

Reflectionsreflections · 19/04/2025 18:30

The dog was “looking at you”? Oh no, how on earth did you cope??

It was looking at our food clearly hoping for us to throw it a bit.
If a person stood at your table as you were eating would that be OK? I see no difference.
Obviously it's not the dog that's the problem, it's the oblivious dopey owners, just like parents who think their kids can run around in pubs etc.
I'm getting the feeling you can likely recognise this type of behaviour

vodkaredbullgirl · 19/04/2025 18:42

Must be the bank holiday weekend 😆

I just stated it wasn’t a rant.
and I wondered others opinions, and I thought a forum with opinions would be a the right place.
if that’s ok with you.

Absolute rubbish. Nobody asks through highsteets with dogs off leads. You’d be terrified they’d end up under a car or lost. Never seen one off a lead.

Dog owners have literally no idea how bad their dogs stink. It's the new smoking.

I said yes and he snarled at me .
Why bloody ask?!?

As someone who loves dogs beyond reason, that would piss me off too. If they cannot behave, do not take them!
Some of mine are cafe friendly. Some are not. I do not take the ones who are not, one because it’s annoying for other people and two because the dog is actually unhappy?

This. Kids are noisy and badly behaved in restaurants and cafes because they’re bored.

You will have to go to spoons if you don't like dogs 😆

I have, but the dogs have not been wandering about either. They are still very much next to their owner.

Such a stupid comment. We're humans, living in a human society. Children are of course allowed to be in restaurants etc, and up until recently we all agreed that dogs had no place in indoor human areas.

My dog smells devine from her popcorn toes to her Kiehls washed fur. ❤️

Agree.
We’ve been dog owners for years and never felt the need to take our dogs everywhere with us.
Ive seen people drive their dogs to the retail park just so they can take them in to Pets at home, and then the idiot owners stand there whilst the poor NMW workers clean up their dog shit.

The last time I read a thread on this topic, a dog had crapped in the cafe where a pp had ordered lunch. Disgusting.

Just leave your fucking dogs at home or sit at an outside table!

I refuse to eat at places that have dogs inside now, I don’t want some pooch chasing it’s puppuccino cup around my feet on it’s stupid extendable lead whilst it tries to lick the last of the froth out, with it’s idiot owner giving me a simpering smile.

Please....tell me that puppuccino isn't actually a real thing?!!!!

Babyccino is already a step too far....

Mistyglade · 19/04/2025 18:46

No, the holiday is for my dog as well as me. She loves beaches and it will sadly be her last holiday as she is old and her time with me is coming to an end.

Hope you both have the best time.

But behaviour from children and entitlement from parents is getting worse.
