Can I choose how my bridemaids have their hair?

Genuine question, getting married and want my bridemaids to all have the same hair - all of their hair is long so it'll be easy but one has a thick fringe and would it be rude if I asked her to have a hairstyle that clips it back? I want them all to have their hair like this but unsure how it'll work with a full fringe? AIBU?

It would be rude to ask her to pin back her fringe.

andtheworldrollson · 16/04/2025 11:50

Think you are getting carried away with it all

PoorPhaedra · 16/04/2025 11:50

Does it really matter how they have their hair???

AnotherHappyCamper · 16/04/2025 11:50

It's rude and also very silly.

Maddy70 · 16/04/2025 11:50

Ask them if they would be ok with it. Individually, they many have an issue eh very conscious of big forehead or something.

missedtherainbow · 16/04/2025 11:50

Are you paying for them to have their hair done?

MrsDThaskala · 16/04/2025 11:51

Can’t see why not. I think it would work with a fringe. Just to be fair though, you can suggest it, but it’s quite nice to allow some individuality, assuming they all have the same dress. I like it so I’d say yes.

Iamaverysillyperson · 16/04/2025 11:51

Yes, it would be rude and strange.

Agix · 16/04/2025 11:51

That would look fine with a fringe. You should chill out a little.

Crispyapple · 16/04/2025 11:51

I think it’s fine to ask to have the hair in a certain style - I asked my bridesmaids to have theirs in an updo as the back of the dresses was a focal point. But I think asking to pin a fringe back may be too far - I think a fringe would like fine with that style anyway 😊

Hoppinggreen · 16/04/2025 11:52

Why would you want to?
They are all individuals and like/suit different things. I would say them being happy and comfortable is more important than them all looking the same in photos

VickyEadieofThigh · 16/04/2025 11:52

Really? I think you're somewhat obsessed by minutiae of this one day.

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 16/04/2025 11:52

Sure you can, Bridezilla! 👍

Bushmillsbabe · 16/04/2025 11:53

You can suggest a hairstyle and ask then if they would be happy with it, but you cannot insist on it.

ThatTwinklyPearlSloth · 16/04/2025 11:53

YABU. I really don’t think anyone will notice how your bridesmaids have their hair. I’d be more concerned that they feel happy and confident in themselves.

This^

luckylavender · 16/04/2025 11:54

It's very Bridezilla

frontwoman001 · 16/04/2025 11:54

Okay, hair issued sorted now, I think? That style would look perfectly fine with a fringe.

Next order of business - uncle Benjamin has a big, thick mustache and we're serving soup. Would it be unreasonable of me to ask him to shave off his mustache for the day?

LolaJ87 · 16/04/2025 11:54

YWBU. I look weird with my fringe pulled back, and even when I've grown it out I've had some face framing pieces, which your bridesmaid won't have with her fringe clipped back. Allow people some small token of their individuality in what suits them as a person.

HundredPercentUnsure · 16/04/2025 11:55

Iamaverysillyperson · 16/04/2025 11:51

Yes, it would be rude and strange.

Agree.

BogRollBOGOF · 16/04/2025 11:55

Clipping back a fringe would look silly.

Complimentary styles are fine where viable (by hair length, type), but bridesmaids look best when they retain some of their own individuality and feel comfortable rather than trying to clone them.

Octonopes · 16/04/2025 11:56

I have a thick fringe because I have a scar on my forehead (I'm not Harry Potter, honest) so I'd be very self conscious to be asked to do this

I'm certain that updo looks nice with a fringe

Have a lovely wedding 🙂

Flamingoknees · 16/04/2025 11:56

She presumably has a fringe because she feels she suits it/needs it/feels confident with it. These are individual real life people we are talking about, not dress up dollies.
It's highly unlikely that one hairstyle will suit all - I'd hate to be the one it didn't suit.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 16/04/2025 11:57

Why on earth do you want to control every aspect to this extent? I’d imagine it would probably make her feel uncomfortable the whole day. Aren’t bridesmaids usually people you care about?!

Littlebluepenguins · 16/04/2025 11:58

Perhaps some sort of small hair accessory that they all have the same will bring everything together despite one person having a fringe ?
