I posted this on the pronouns thread last night with a question to those who had told us that we were not decent people or kind if we told 'another person that [we] understood their reality better than they understand it themselves'.

I mean it was the last page of the thread, but no answer came from the poster involved.

I think it is quite remarkable that every time we mention that if we are to accept one of someone else's philosophical belief about who they are, that we have to accept ALL their beliefs about who they are. And if we have to accept one person's belief that they are female when they are objectively, materially, male, then we have to accept all those male people who state they have the same belief.

There is no arbitrating it on a case by case scenario.

I like to think I'm tolerant and liberal. But, there really are some horrid and inconceivable kinks.

It's not 2018 any more. There was a time when we naively thought that it was kind to pretend that men who identify as women are women. But now we have years of evidence to demonstrate that men who identify as women, as a class, show male patterns of behaviour.

Over 70% of transwomen who are currently incarcerated in the UK have convictions for sex crimes or extremely violent crime. In contrast only 3% of women have convictions for sex crimes.

It's a sad fact that men, however they identify, are more violent as a class than women. Obviously not all men and not all transwomen are violent, but what more proof do we need that men, however they identify, do not belong in spaces reserved for women.

See I totally disagree. There is no such thing as gender. It is a social construct with no clear definition so I think we should use it interchangeably with biological sex. We need to reclaim it from this fantasyland of ‘gender identity’ and double down that gender and sex relate to the same thing. The binary - male and female.
