What threads do you always hide?

If any!

If I scroll through and see anyone ask about accountancy help, HMRC advice, tax return, accounts etc I just hide them. I can't stand seeing 90% of the "advice" on those threads being absolute bollocks.

I used to hide the divorce ones when I was going through mine, I didn't want extra headspace going into it.

None! I just don’t read ones that do t interest me! Don’t know hiding them was a thing…

Can we take the trans and feminism stuff elsewhere?

Just because you can technically post wherever and whatever you want doesn't mean you should.

I'm sorry your thread has been persistently derailed by some posters exhibiting such poor manners.

It just takes someone to be the bigger person and say "we have a difference of opinion and aren't going to resolve it here so let's just call it a day."

  • Parking threads - I'm terrible at reading diagrams, and they're never as dramatic as I hope they'll be 😅
  • Transvestigation/Single sex spaces/Any threads about transgender topics in general, due to them inevitably spiraling into unpleasantness.
  • Threads about competitive under/overeating
  • Stepchild/Stepparent fallout threads
Edited

I don't actively hide these but I'm with you on being terrible with diagrams!

I disengage pretty quickly when I read an OP and see "let's call her xxx". I know I'm not going to want to follow the story.

You have a Donald-Trump-like posting style. It's like reading one of his 'truths', the random capitalisation, the breathlessness, the accusations, the scare quotes, the bolding. Not difficult to understand why so many of us are naming these threads.

@whatwaytoturn I'm sorry. I think that's very understandable. Please don't feel bad.

Oh, I forgot. Women are supposed to speak in a soft voice and never get angry. If we do, we are like some right wing male.

That's misogyny.

I'm sorry your thread has been persistently derailed by some posters exhibiting such poor manners.

OP can blame the misogynists who call womens rights 'anti trans'. If they didn't do that, they wouldn't need to be corrected.

But I'm out of this thread.

I only discovered recently that you can hide entire topics from appearing in your Active feed!

Not so much poor manners but the utter naivety to think you can persistently call posters of a board ‘anti-trans’ without so much of a decent example (or any example) despite being given evidence to the contrary and expect no push back. Mental.

SonoPazziQuestiRomani · 17/04/2025 08:15

It just takes someone to be the bigger person and say "we have a difference of opinion and aren't going to resolve it here so let's just call it a day."

That assumes that both posters are posting in good faith, which the TRAs often aren't, but why people keep arguing with them, especially on unrelated threads, I don't understand!

Yes, tell yourself that's what I meant.

@Acc0untant I hide the ones where the author is trying too hard for an authorial voice, very stylised re-tellings of improbably scenarios that go on and on, getting more and more embellished, with people clamouring for every detail and responding with texts they would send, things they would say, letters they would write.

It's not naivety, it's deliberate so as to help perpetuate the myth (to people who aren't familiar with the actual issues) that GC = anti-trans.

ilovesooty · 17/04/2025 08:17

It's poor manners to spam a thread with half a dozen consecutive posts while saying I'll post what I want where I want It's the online equivalent of being a pub bore who sits at someone's table and tries to dictate the conversation.

And the ones that have suspiciously regular "updates" as the story unfolds, and then move on to multiple threads 🙄

It’s a public discussion forum and people can reply to posts as they see fit. Especially what they see as nonsensical posts. Which is what’s happening here. It’s not a difficult concept to understand. How about you stick to the thread topic if you’re so bothered about it.

It’s naive to think GC people are going to put up with being called anti-trans with nothing to back to back it up.

I am responding to the thread topic as well. I doubt if the behaviour of some posters on this thread will encourage people to visit FWR though. We'll have to politely agree to disagree, in my opinion.

The Trans Obsessives appear to be turning this into a thread people want to hide 😂

It was inevitable. As soon as I saw this thread title I thought to myself 'someone is going to say they hide Trans threads and the thread will be completely de-railed by the usual posters repeatedly shouting TRANS WOMEN ARE MEN and calling anyone who disagrees, or even anyone who doesn't disagree but thinks it's possible to have a more nuanced conversation around gender, "hard of thinking" or a "Handmaid".

If anything, this thread has confirmed my view that hiding Trans threads (along with Royal Family threads and anything featuring the words "woke" or "snowflake") is an act of self care.

oooh I love a good inheritance thread! Maybe because it's something I know very little about. It's always amazing to see the ways in which people (both legators and legatees) lose their minds slightly when it comes to dividing up the family money. And there are so many ways to piss people off. Throw in blended families, entitled grandchildren and a long-lost cousin, and you've got everything you need for drama.

  • one poster comes on late in the piece and decides to take issue with everything that's been said so far by spamming the thread with new quote posts

^^I posted that (in response to the OP) a couple of days ago and look where we are now Grin

Trans women are men. It’s just simple fact. You seem more bothered than the women who know this 😂. ‘A more nuanced discussion’. Women don’t want men in certain spaces and sports, the end. There’s your discussion.

Absolutely this ❤️
