To take recreational drugs in your 50s

Isthisokdoyouthink · 11/04/2025 19:34

Just that really. Bunch of married fathers going out and taking recreational drugs (concealed up one of them’s rectum) - one hid it from his wife, one has a wife that does it too, the other I don’t know.

What do you think?

AIBU to feel a bit eurgh about it and a bit like they never grew up?

YABU - it’s fine. Each to their own

YANBU - it is a bit yuk.

Did he not have pockets/ couldn't have put them down his pants? Could one of the women not have put it in their bra? I'm struggling to believe "ass" was the only suitable place for a couple of pills.

ForCheeryHedgehog · 12/04/2025 00:45

Just heading to the toilet to wait for Dave to shit out our MDMA. And middle aged men take ages in the shitter.

Not the point of the thread but I've just googled, and they're absolutely adorable. Like little rainbow sweeties in all shapes. Like Lucky Charms cereal. thats been up your mates ass

Mickeychampionwhatgoodami · 12/04/2025 00:54

I used to keep mine in matchbox, far more hygienic.

Drugs are illegal, and cause a lot of harm. It is perfectly reasonable to be anti-drugs. I personally don’t drink but I don’t mind others who do, I refuse to be around drugs though.

Everyone judges btw, it’s what every human needs to do to assess the kind of humans they have around them!

And if you were in rehab for drugs you must be fully aware of what a slippery slope taking them can be.

Rehab was for booze, never addicted to drugs. So by that reasoning alcohol is far more dangerous than drugs. You don’t often hear of men beating their partners to death while on ecstasy/mdma, however the stats for alcohol-fuelled domestic violence is through the roof

I used to take a lot of mdna. I never had a comedown ever it's a sociable drug and makes the world a little bit happier for a while if they put some on the water instead of flouride there would be no war or division

I’m a hardcore 90s raver.my husband grew up in the 80s and tells multiple stories of fighting in nightclubs. I’d never condone My children taking drugs but I know whose history I’d prefer they experienced

Mickeychampionwhatgoodami · 12/04/2025 01:31

Likewise I went to Northern soul all nighters 80s through to mid 90s hardly saw any bother in 14 years, amphetamine was the drug of choice.

Why couldn't it be taken right before going into the venue? 🤔

@Princessconsuelabananahammock9 Marijuana helps with chemo, with a myriad of health conditions, physical and mental.

It also causea a myriad of health conditions, and when people write stuff like this it reminds me of the embarassing "420" crowd who think that marijuana is a secret wonder drug that cures all diseases which is being suppressed by "the system."

It’s legal here. What is being suppressed?

SatsumaDog · 12/04/2025 04:36

I think it’s an unnecessary risk. When you have a family, it’s irresponsible to do something like that when you’re older. Of course there are risks whatever your age, but your body is probably more likely to react unfavourably when you’re older.

Wishyouwerehere50 · 12/04/2025 09:25

@BatchCookBabe it's unclear why you're so angered by this all. Unless you're having a hard time with the annoying weed heavy neighbour.

We can all accept a ' never no harm ' mentality is naive. I don't think anyone here believes that.

I don't believe, after reading the extremes of upset from certain posters, that one gives a damn about those people harmed along the way due to the drugs trade. That has nothing to do with this very strong black and white reaction. As the posts clearly reveal.

Who here thinks they're cool? Is a free thinking mentality the definition of trying to be edgy now.

The huge issue here is the fact it was up his ass. That's just the end of all of it really......💩

NicolaDeLaHaye · 12/04/2025 10:45

The pro drugs people mock anti drugs people because they think we're naive and have a stick up our arses. In fact they're naive for failing to acknowledge the absolute hell drugs can cause. I even saw people going on about Leah Betts saying she died because of drinking too much water, not from ecstasy. Oh that's alright then? She wouldn't be drinking so much water if she wasn't taking drugs in the first place.

Why do you think everyone from our generation in every single region of the entire country saw that same Leah Betts video?! Because she was one of only a small minority of people who die from using ecstasy - and the only one the anti drugs campaign at the time could find! It’s by and large one of the safer drugs out there. Why weren’t we being educated about the dangers of alcohol? Because most of the kids at the time, me included, were going out every weekend and getting so drunk we could barely walk. I’ve heard of many more people dying of alcohol poisoning, becoming dependent on alcohol, and many, many young girls being assaulted because they were taken advantage of while drunk. That was what we should have been learning about. Not one person who died from taking ecstasy

NicolaDeLaHaye · 12/04/2025 11:44

Again totally missing the point about the chain of supply, the evil involved and the collateral damage. Every drug taker and apologist contributes to that.

JazzyJelly · 12/04/2025 11:59

I'm not against people taking drugs per se, but like others on the thread I object to supply chains. I have a few friends who grow their own marijuana, one who forages magic mushrooms, and one who makes her own gin, all of which I think are ethically fine.

That said, I'd never have anything that had been up a bum, and I wouldn't kiss my partner if he'd consumed bum drugs!

I'm not pro drugs to be clear.

I'm not blanket anti drugs either, particularly other people's choices, very much dependant on a good few caveats.

I'm incredibly anti our drinking culture but would never impress that on anyone. Because I know too many people who enjoy drinking socially. It would be misinterpreted.

I don't believe disliking drug taking means someone has a stick up their bum, in any way.

I find it hard to discern why there's such horror towards something like ecstacy use but not alcohol which kills people, probably daily I'm going to suggest.

How would you feel if they trialled legalisation of MDMA/Ecstasy with appropriate testing capabilities in the UK?

I’m not sure what drugs. That was my guess.

I think it was absolute fear of getting caught. A criminal record or even tumours of drug use could impact their professional standing. That’s my guess.

One of the none drug taking people there said ‘oh, bill, Toby and Ken have just nipped to the loo, Ken’s got the drugs in up his bum so…’

I should have asked more. But I was just thinking ‘ew’ and carried on.

Happy, as long as they took out out of the dealers hand/wallet.
I'm from an area where I regularly see young 14 y.o boys starting the new job, with their new bike/scooter with nice trainers, drug couriers, €20 a day.
If they get caught with the drugs, they owe the dealer, families terrorised and interest rates tripling by the day, until the payment is made, they think nothing of throwing a petrol bomb at the family home.
A young lad 14 hung himself over a 500 euro debt, he was scared to tell his mam.
