To ask how often you look at your bank account?

I’ve seen people say they check their balance every day, while others barely look at it unless something goes wrong. Some swear by keeping a close eye on their money, while others say ignorance is bliss.

How often do you check yours? Do you think it’s better to monitor it regularly or just go with the flow?

For some unfathomable reason, I tend to check our current account most weekends.
Can't work out why as the pensions are paid monthly and even when working, we were monthly paid.🤔

It's not even because I am worried about the balance as all bills are paid by DD at the start of the month and everything else goes on the CC (automatically paid off in full every month), we also hold a healthy balance in our current account that we never go below.

Merryoldgoat · 11/04/2025 11:22

Most days I check it to ensure things I expect to go our have done.

MananaPenelope · 11/04/2025 11:22

Every morning.

ByLemonFish · 11/04/2025 11:23

Every few days

Newmeagain · 11/04/2025 11:24

Every day. It’s an app on my phone so very easy to check. I like to keep track and also I often have to go on the app anyway - to authorise payments or send money to my dd, etc.

Augustus40 · 11/04/2025 11:24

Every morning. Good to check in the event of internet fraud.

LeaveTaking · 11/04/2025 11:24

Everyday. Keeps on the right track and I can see anything suspicious.

whataboutnow · 11/04/2025 11:24

Every morning . My account was hacked a few years back. A considerable amount had been taken which was refunded by my bank but had I not spotted it they would most likely have taken more

Sahara123 · 11/04/2025 11:26

I wish I had more often, I’ve just discovered that I’ve accidentally signed up for something I don’t want that has been taking money out of my account, apparently I can’t have a refund 😠. They don’t make it easy to understand what you’re looking at sometimes do they

Ohthatsabitshit · 11/04/2025 11:27

Everyday

henlake7 · 11/04/2025 11:30

Usually about once a month.
Im not really that tech savvy and it just doesnt occur to me that I can check on my phone!

Coffeeheaven · 11/04/2025 11:31

At least once a day.

Itsjustnotthevibe · 11/04/2025 11:31

I check the app once a day to make sure everything looks as it should.

RedPony1 · 11/04/2025 11:31

Daily

PoppyTheGuineaPig · 11/04/2025 11:32

Daily at least sometimes more often. I have genuine diagnosed anxiety and OCD around money relating to a traumatic past.

Lincslady53 · 11/04/2025 11:32

Pre banking app, once or twice a month. Since banking app, at least once a day. I get a notification for every transaction, which prompts a quick look. The bank, Starling, have stopped giving interest on current account balances, but have a savings account which gives 4%, so I switch money regularly to get the maximum out of it

CasperGutman · 11/04/2025 11:32

I only actively open the app when I need to transfer money, pay off a credit card or something. But I get notifications for payments above a certain size, or when the balance drops below a certain threshold. So in that sense I suppose I'm constantly checking it!

ShapedLikeAPastry · 11/04/2025 11:33

Every day.

peekabooyou · 11/04/2025 11:33

Most days

jay55 · 11/04/2025 11:33

I have notifications set up for all movements and check in if I’m not sure what it is. Otherwise weekly.

MightyGoldBear · 11/04/2025 11:34

Everyday

Eileen101 · 11/04/2025 11:35

Every day. To check I have been de-frauded and to make sure I haven't missed anything and gone overdrawn as I'm just out of the overdraft circle and hoping to keep it that way.

Seawolves · 11/04/2025 11:35

Daily. I have been financially in the shit before and sticking my head in the sand about it did me no good at all so now I check daily.

Dueanamechange2025 · 11/04/2025 11:38

At least every couple of days but not every day now I get a notification of any transactions coming in or out.
Guess this habit started by working for the bank for 20 years so could check my accounts very easily every day before the times of online banking & apps.

flyinghen · 11/04/2025 11:38

Most days I check balance. I’ll generally once a week check our bank accounts to our spreadsheet and check the ones that’s have gone out to make sure we are short in a certain account. On Payday I divvy up salary to the different accounts. Honestly I really love it, love a spreadsheet!!
