This is a confession thread and also a mystery solving thread.

There are certain things in life that everyone seems to hate, but I've never ever seen anyone own up to doing, and I would like these people to own up now because I need to know your demographic and why you do them. This is anonymous, you are safe here, tell the truth.

WHO are the people that hang dog poo bags on trees? Who are you and WHY?
WHO are the people that bought all the toilet rolls during covid?

Please add your own answers and your own confessions. Especially the dog poo one because it's everywhere, and yet I never see anyone doing it or owning up to it.

WTF is wrong with the poo bag people? So gross!

Felt very guilty the one time I spat out gum, as my mum hates chewing gum stuck to the pavement.

My in-laws do fly-tipping all the time. They got fined.

Isittimeformynapyet · 09/04/2025 14:54

I don't want to clog up the thread with "not me!" posts (which are inevitable,) so I'll just ask the person who's voted YABU to perhaps explain their stance..

WHY?!

I don't understand fly tipping. The only decent reason I can think of for not taking your crap to the dump is because you don't have a vehicle. But surely if you have a vehicle to drive shit out to the countryside and dump it, you have one to take it to the tip?

Why do your in-laws fly tip? have they said?

Good luck on your quest for answers OP. If there any of the culprits are on here I doubt they will tell us the truth. Is anyone up for telling us why they throw rubbish out of their cars while driving? I mean how hard is it to take your rubbish home?

hopeishere · 09/04/2025 15:06

I think the poo bag people plan to pick it up on the way back on their walk but then forget.

LBFseBrom · 09/04/2025 15:07

I've never seen dog poo bags hanging on trees in my life.

I did buy a lot of toilet rolls at the beginning of the pandemic.

Why? why toilet rolls? and why so many?
I need to know, I promise I won't be mean to you. I just need to know why.

I feel like starting a post that asks.

What is it that make people think hanging poo temporarily so you can pick it up on the way home is okay?

It's not.

No one should have to see your poo bag whilst they are out enjoying the countryside. 🙄

Octavia64 · 09/04/2025 15:11

I bought toilet rolls at the beginning of the pandemic.

more accurately I bought bloody everything - rice, pasta, loo rolls, tins of stuff - after Brexit and kept it stocked up on rotation. It was all in the shed. It came in bloody useful.

Maybe if they hang it on a post or push it next to something, but not the ones that throw it up into trees!🤣

I think they just care more about their cars and enjoying their own little clean, tidy and private bubble, than they do the rest of the world and they are not willing to put up with having something they don't want in their cars longer than they have to. Basically, they are selfish twunts.
That I understand, they are selfish. Ok. Got it.
But the dog poo people, I just don't get. They have gone to the effort of picking it up and bagging it, why have they put it in a tree?

No to the poo bag.
Yes to the toilet roll mountain. However, I do buy massive amounts if toilet rolls at the best of times. Not sure why. It just pleases me .

BreathingIn · 09/04/2025 15:13

My friend bought absolutely tonnes of toilet rolls at the start of the pandemic.

Her rationale was that she needed supplies in case the government banned people from leaving their houses at all.
I pointed out that even in the 1000000:1 possibility that that did happen, you can very easily live without bog roll. Just give your arse a bloody wash.

We actually fell out about it, and we've not spoken since.

BarnacleBeasley · 09/04/2025 15:15

I think that most people who do fly-tipping (not @Gowlett's in-laws) are doing it because you get charged for bringing stuff to the tip in a van. They take money from people to clear their stuff, then dump it instead of paying the fees and pocket all the cash.

I agree with you. It's hardly an essential if you really look at things, is it? I can understand (although it was still unnecessary and selfish) the hoarding of tins and pasta and longlife milk, but toilet rolls is so weird to me and so... bulky.

You need to know their demographic!?

arethereanyleftatall · 09/04/2025 15:16

The whole point of hanging poo bags on trees is to be able to easily see them on their way back from the walk isn’t it surely? Otherwise there would be millions upon millions of them hanging on trees now. I don’t have a dog but thought that was obvious.

reesewithoutaspoon · 09/04/2025 15:17

I don't understand the disposing of poo bags. You have gone to the trouble of picking it up which is the worst bit and then chuck it so it's there for years.

Bluecheesebonkers · 09/04/2025 15:17

There must be LOADS of people who ‘forget’ to pick up their poo bags on the way back. We minister be such a forgetful nation. Who knew!?!

Either that or they think they’ve distanced themselves from the poo and no one will know it’s them so what’s the harm?

I’m not a dog person at all.

Yes, I am really very interested in the types/sorts of people that do certain things.

OK, I don't NEED to know, but you know what I mean 😄

I bought a lot of toilet roll. In all honesty I got caught up in the drama. I didn’t go overboard on anything else do to with the pandemic. I think it was because it was so hard to get at the start that I got carried away if I was in the supermarket when it was delivered. It was like when I was a kid and tamagotchis had just come to the uk, felt like I’d got my hands on some exclusive item. I’m not normally a sheep at all!

I understand the etiquette is a penance poo bag if you forget your own, can’t find it on the way back.

There really is an awful lot in some of the trees I see on my walks and I go to a lot of popular and scenic dog walking spots. Enough that sometimes it ruins the walk for me because it's so unsightly. I think every now and then the council or whoever owns the land do a clear up of them all, but it's a big problem.
