Who does these things?

This is a confession thread and also a mystery solving thread.

There are certain things in life that everyone seems to hate, but I've never ever seen anyone own up to doing, and I would like these people to own up now because I need to know your demographic and why you do them. This is anonymous, you are safe here, tell the truth.

WHO are the people that hang dog poo bags on trees? Who are you and WHY?
WHO are the people that bought all the toilet rolls during covid?

Please add your own answers and your own confessions. Especially the dog poo one because it's everywhere, and yet I never see anyone doing it or owning up to it.

OP posts:
Chungai · 10/04/2025 18:17

About 6 weeks before lockdown I did a bulk warehouse buy of toilet roll. I think it was something like 96 rolls. I felt very smug.

Well it was asking “who does these things?” & why is usually a part of that. O’wise it wld be a thread saying “I do these things”, “I don’t”, “I do” with no discussion & so therefore a bit pointless.

You say you don’t care if others object but got v upset by others objecting here tho. I think you’d feel less offended if you had some empathy & cared about others’ feelings about antisocial behaviour. But as you say you don’t care. So unfortunately you’re going to always feel got at & “bullied”. Vicious & circle springs to mind.

I don’t feel bullied, Or offended. Why did you say that? You’ve put feelings onto me that suit you, but don’t reflect my own feeling in any way. I’m really interested why you did that. Was it to give you the opportunity to criticise me for lack of empathy and anti social behaviour? That’s what it looks like

I’ve told you why but it’s not really good enough- you are now asking me why other people feel the way they do about it, which isn’t my concern.

Alicehatter · 10/04/2025 18:28

I was once walking in a woodland type place that had no public bins. There was a house in the middle and I put a poo bag in their black bin (yes I was that person!) The resident saw me and came out shouting obscenities at me, took out the bag and hung it on a tree!!!!!!! I went back for it and noticed a big friggin pile of bags!! Obviously she was pissed at people using her bin (fine) but she's living next door to a pile of rotting dog shit instead 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

You said you felt bullied by it & took offence to pple calling out your behaviour:

”I think you’re taking my post too literally.
OP: tell me why you do xyz I want to know
poster: I do xyz because abc
everyone: you dirty fucker how dare you. Your parents dragged you up. You’re dragging your own street urchins up. You should be ashamed to live.
me: you’re bullying
you: no I am publicly shaming! They deserve it”

You said you felt “bullied”. A strong word that would suggest strong feelings of upset/offence/hurt. But now you say you don’t.
You also expect admitting to antisocial behaviour should warrant no offence/response/disgust from others. Yet take offence to the same act (pple leaving poo bags on yr own property) being done to you. I’m merely commenting on the contradiction.

Corbusier you’ve misread this. Go back and look at the posts. I have commented on behalf of others that they will not respond because they feel bullied , and because OP and other posters have started the post with the intention of doing so.

I have not contributed to the “being a person who does these things” responses until many pages later when a poster said I had such a chip on my shoulder I must obviously be a poo dumper.

which I’m not, I made it up because I thought that post was so stupid

BogRollBOGOF · 10/04/2025 19:11

I bulk buy toilet roll at Costco and brought forwards a top-up in early Feb 2020 so stocks were back to normal again before we needed more. There was speculation very early on that there was digestive upset as a symptom, but we use a lot anyway. Even as a solo student I bought 9 packs because if I left one in the toilet by accident, my tight-wad housemates would use it all up very rapidly so I always have maintained a decent stock.

I have to be very careful pruning my front hedge as sometimes disgusting, idle cunts leave their shit bags hanging in it. There is a public bin 75m away in either direction. Pure laziness.
I CBA to deal with dog shit, but that's not a problem because I don't own a dog. I certainly do not want to have to deal with the aftermath of random shit bags left lying around. Or clear up the shit abandoned in the middle of the gateway perfectly dumped for the DCs to blunder through. 🤢

Recently, I was running along a canal on the outskirts of a village. There was a bridge going over where the old lane was truncated and just went down to the towpath. The trees where the lane cuts off were filled with shit bags like perverse Christmas baubles. The cunts that did that were clearly never intending on collecting them.

If you don't want to carry your own dog's waste with your hands, get a bag designated to put the shit bags in until you reach an appropriate bin for disposal. It's not that hard a solution!

As I suspected. You did make it up.

You haven't really proved anything by doing this, except presumably that you would be doing this if you had a dog.

We bought (well, DH) bought gallons of bleach pre lock down. Fuck me why? I never clean with bleach(sets my asthma off, Plus-DH actually doing any bleach requiring cleaning would be miraculous) I still have a huge bottle under the sink.

The advice you got if you had Covid and lived with other people was to clean with bleach. There was a very detailed leaflet I saw where I live (not UK).

Wld you mind if pple hung full bags on your garden hedge or fence?

I think you’ve outed yourself & now backtracking when called out. Note for the future don’t cry wolf if you make stuff up on forums that’s antisocial or goady.

Mrsgreen100 · 10/04/2025 19:24

Fly tipping should carry a custodial sentence or at least three or four months of community service it’s absolutely disgusting,
our local dump used to be open all the time you could just pitch up and take stuff there. It was never busy now you have to book a slot a month in advance. How the hell is this? Kind of stuff? Gonna help?

I have no idea what you’re talking about, but you shouldn’t be so arrogant as to give other people “notes”- who the hell do you think you are?

Gwenhwyfar · 10/04/2025 19:29

Daffodilfields101 · 10/04/2025 07:47

I might be able to answer.

I don’t do any of these things. But growing up in the 80s/90s my parents always let our dogs shit in the street. My mum thought that she was being really considerate by making the dog do it on the grass instead of right in the middle of the pavement.

They were also guilty of fly tipping. I can remember being taken out late at night with my mum or dad to dump stuff. They dropped litter and fag ends in the street too.

They don’t do these things anymore because they’ve learnt that it’s wrong. Not just that it’s wrong but it’s about being more considerate.

It wasn’t uncommon in those days where we lived and they were badly bought up, selfish and ignorant.

People knew not to litter in the 80s and 90s. There were keep Britain tidy campaigns, etc.
Dog poo on the pavements was much more common though.
People fly tipped, but there was less of an excuse for it then than now I think - councils picked up rubbish more often and I presume there was easier access to dumps.

Loads of people try and put their dog poo in her black bin? She complains. So people hang it in trees. Most don’t go and collect it?

Why are people not taking it with them?

@orangesandlemonssaythebellsofstclements

I was the same as Octavia during Brexit and Covid. But I have always kept a good stock of things like toilet rolls and tin food, et cetera. It was how I was brought up. I didn't panic buy, I just gradually accumulated a stock of things.

it meant that when supplies of things were very low, I could leave them to the people that needed them.

It has also meant I have been well stocked in times when I have needed things and been unable to get or cope with unloading a delivery.

I'm not hurting anybody, so I don't see the problem.

I do not understand at all the people who fling Dog poo bags up into trees. I mean who goes to the Trouble of bagging it, to throw it like that? I absolutely disagree with it, but I can at least understand why people don't pick it up.

People begging and hanging in trees need to follow it up there themselves!!!

Begging and hanging in trees?!? That sounds really sinister!!

MulberryPeony · 11/04/2025 07:50

I thought of another one when I was driving home last night. At cross roads with filter lanes and lights. Why does the person in the right hand turn lane edge forwards past the line when we’re on red and then seemingly absolutely fluff it if they are trying to turn right before the oncoming traffic reaches them?

KaToby · 11/04/2025 08:02

I want to know why people park next to another car in a car park, when there are plenty of other spaces?!

A friend of mine is obsessed with lavatory paper. Every air bnb gets a 12 pack (even if we're only away for 3 days...), and if we stay in a hotel, she raids the chambermaid's tolley and stocks up the loo.
I mean, I can understand she doesn't want the jeapordy of 'just in time' buying, but this is a whole new level...

I suspect most people wouldn't have been aware she'd emptied it back out, to enable them to retrieve it. 'I was caught in the act' so went back for mine because I'd rather not be the person whose dog poo was in the tree!
As for not taking it with them, most people (including me at the time!) see a bin and use it. The issue is if 20 people did that to her, she has half a bin of dog poo doesn't she, which isn't fair. I didn't think of that at the time though, admittedly. Still can't get my head round why she'd empty them the way she did though.

My friend bought absolutely tonnes of toilet rolls at the start of the pandemic.

Her rationale was that she needed supplies in case the government banned people from leaving their houses at all.
I pointed out that even in the 1000000:1 possibility that that did happen, you can very easily live without bog roll. Just give your arse a bloody wash.

We actually fell out about it, and we've not spoken since.

I bet she felt oh so justified at the time as well when she fell out with you. And that you “wasn’t being a good friend”.
