This is a confession thread and also a mystery solving thread.

There are certain things in life that everyone seems to hate, but I've never ever seen anyone own up to doing, and I would like these people to own up now because I need to know your demographic and why you do them. This is anonymous, you are safe here, tell the truth.

WHO are the people that hang dog poo bags on trees? Who are you and WHY?
WHO are the people that bought all the toilet rolls during covid?

Please add your own answers and your own confessions. Especially the dog poo one because it's everywhere, and yet I never see anyone doing it or owning up to it.

I once saw "poo" written on the wall.. in poo.

I think these people are just mentally ill.

Mentally ill ( although don’t want to tar all people with mental illness with the same brush) or just the low life dregs of society that contribute nothing to the world

Hadalifeonce · 09/04/2025 16:40

My brother bought loads and loads of toilet rolls, he still does. He lives alone and unless he has, at least, 48 toilet rolls he seems to think he will run out.
Luckily he doesn't have a dog.

Would he have to buy more for the dog?

Who were (are) the people driving around in cars on their own wearing a face mask! 😂

Who are the people that have toddlers and don't have reins but get annoyed when their toddler runs off especially when it's close to a road?

Who are the people that get a dog based on its looks rather than its breed requirements and then have a reactive dog with behavioural problems because they are utterly clueless in socialising it and giving the correct diet and exercise?

Who are the people that let children run around in restaurants?

Who are the people that bleat about being overweight whilst eating absolutely crap in vast quantise every day?

Who are the people that drive around without using their indicators or looking in their rear or side mirrors?

Who are the people that park wonky in parking spaces and seem incapable of straightening their car?

Who are the people that spend a lot of money on their trainers to provide shock abortion for their feet and joints on hard roads and pavements but expect their dog to run at an unnatural gate (unless it's a Husky) with their joints taking a bashing?

Who are the people that park on pavement so that anyone in a wheelchair or with a pushchair has to walk out into the road to get past them?

Who are the people that voted Labour in? 🤷🏼‍♀️

scalt · 09/04/2025 16:43

With the toilet roll thing, people wanted to feel in control of something; because like now (albeit on the other side of the Atlantic), there was an unpredictable childish psychopath in charge of the country, who might do something catastrophic, on a whim. And because the government (and mumsnetters) cranked levels of fear up to astronomical levels, people panicked.

I haven’t forgotten the panic buying of petrol in 2022, or indeed 2000. All it takes is a small hint that something might run out, and people panic. Advertisers know this; that’s why they say “hurry! Limited stock, buy now!” It was hinted that there were limited vaccines as well, and so people rushed out to get them, as soon as they were eligible.

No, he wouldn't buy more, but there is no way on earth he would pick up poo, to hang it on trees or otherwise.

ohyesido · 09/04/2025 16:45

I had a petrol shortage theory that applies to toilet roll

We bought (well, DH) bought gallons of bleach pre lock down. Fuck me why? I never clean with bleach(sets my asthma off, Plus-DH actually doing any bleach requiring cleaning would be miraculous) I still have a huge bottle under the sink.

orangesandlemonssaythebellsofstclements · 09/04/2025 16:47

PaintYourAssLikeRembrandt · 09/04/2025 16:21

I will admit that I sometimes leave poo bags.

If my dog poos at the start of a walk then I'll leave it somewhere out of the way and pick it up on the way back again.

And I did stock up on toilet rolls before covid too, and everything else, and I'm glad I did. Always been a bit of a prepper, but I did do extra before the lockdowns hit.

It was just me and 6 kids in the house though, I also had cancer, so I had to be very prepared, and even then I could only get 2 of each item when shopping during covid so I would have been screwed if I hadn't.

Oooh we actually found one!

Do you genuinely intend to reclaim it but then forget or are you leaving it there on purpose?

Is your DH a real-life version of Martin Goodman from Friday Night Dinner or something? 🤭😂

I genuinely collect it every single time.

I have a giant breed dog so if she poops at the start of the walk then it's just easier for me to leave it and collect on the way back. I couldn't hang it off a tree though, I'm too short and the poo bag would be too heavy.

Tooty78 · 09/04/2025 16:51

On our village FB a lady had posted a picture of her badly cut hand.

Some idiot(s) had stuck Blu Tack inside the dog poo bin, then embedded shards of glass into the Blu Tack, so when she put the poo bag in the bin.......

As oranges said "who are these people?"

outerspacepotato · 09/04/2025 16:52

I have never seen a dog poop bag hung in a tree. WTF. That's weird.

And I hooked up a bidet.

I can answer some of these.

Who are the people that get a dog based on its looks rather than its breed requirements and then have a reactive dog with behavioural problems because they are utterly clueless in socialising it and giving the correct diet and exercise?
My shitty neighbours. They had one dog they couldn't control which was loud and aggressive. Then they got rid of it because they couldn't handle it. Then they got another dog that they still can't control but that one is fine because at least it doesn't bite them, it just wakes up the entire street when they walk it at 5am, letting it bark it's head off. It's behaviour doesn't bother them, so they don't care.
These people are just self absorbed, image-obsessed people. Simple as that.

Who are the people that let children run around in restaurants?
Again, selfish people. People that think they should be entitled to relax and enjoy their meal and shouldn't have to be a parent while they are supposed to be enjoying themselves. I call them "kids will be kids people". They're everywhere. I once had a child come over to my table, pick up a pepper pot and empty it onto my food. The mother simply said "kids will be kids".

Who are the people that park on pavement so that anyone in a wheelchair or with a pushchair has to walk out into the road to get past them?
"special case people". I have had a lengthy debate about this elsewhere. Everyone is special case. Everyone has some individual problem that means they absolutely must park like a twat and have absolutely no choice even though they set up their lives that way. The problem with "special case people" is that not everyone can be one but a huge percentage of the population think they are.

Who are the people that voted Labour in? 🤷🏼‍♀️
Me. I tactically voted in order to get a labour win. I would do the same again if there was a general election tomorrow.

I bought toilet rolls at the beginning of the pandemic.

more accurately I bought bloody everything - rice, pasta, loo rolls, tins of stuff - after Brexit and kept it stocked up on rotation. It was all in the shed. It came in bloody useful.

Same!

StrawberrySquash · 09/04/2025 17:04

The loo roll thing was more complicated than just pure selfishness. I think it was a combination of two things:

I)we were all using more loo roll at home and less at work, restaurants etc. But the commercial market is a totally different supply chain with giant rolls etc. So people needed to buy more loo roll for home, from the domestic, supermarket loo roll market.

II) this then meant it ran out. So people panicked and bought a pack just in case. I know I bought a basket of food I wouldn't have usually bought on my way home from my last day in the office. Normal reaction to uncertainty. And then because it's become rare people do buy when they see it. I know I got tempted when I saw some (I didn't buy it!) because it had suddenly become this big deal.

III) "I can sell this £2 pack for a tenner" mentality. "If I don't I'm losing £8. So I must buy the lot." But I think they were a small part of it. And unless you are on the breadline I judge you for that.

ohyesido · 09/04/2025 15:27

Who actually orders a 3 course meal while companions order a starter and tap water, then suggests splitting the bill equally?

come on who does that?

A colleague of mine did this. I genuinely think she felt everyone else owed her this for the pleasure of her company.

RockyRogue1001 · 09/04/2025 17:12

I'm impressed that people are confessing

RockyRogue1001 · 09/04/2025 17:13

Who are the people that voted Labour in?

Me! And I'd do it again.

Angrymum22 · 09/04/2025 17:14

The poo bag mystery is easy. My dog usually poos within 2 mins of starting a walk. I hang the bag on a branch , so it’s out of the reach of children then pick it up in the way back to the car/start. Otherwise I’m carrying for 3-4 miles and if I’m trying to control my dog it can get a bit messy if it gets wrapped up in the lead.
Most of the walks I take don’t have poo bins every 100m, if at all.
I always remove it on my return. If the dog poos on the walk then I have to carry it and double or triple bag it.
As for the toilet rolls, not guilty. It did produce some hilarious jokes though.

WearyAuldWumman · 09/04/2025 17:16

hopeishere · 09/04/2025 15:06

I think the poo bag people plan to pick it up on the way back on their walk but then forget.

No...they just plan not to be caught.

I live close to a park. I'm sick of bags of dog excrement being thrown over and under my hedges.

SoManyIdiotsSoLittleTime · 09/04/2025 17:20

I absolutely loathe littering and fly tipping and would never consider doing either. I live in a lovely part of the world and it enrages me to see fly tipping and litter.

That said, the local public bins and small recycling drop off area are consistently overflowing. The local council no longer does any free uplifts (each household used to get 2 per year). Paid uplifts are very expensive and you have to wait at least 3 months (I called them last week about a bed I was replacing). General waste uplifts have moved to every three weeks. The local dump requires you to reserve an online slot and it is often booked up weeks in advance.

So ultimately what I’m trying to say is given all of the above I can understand why it is more prevalent now than previous years.

Lol at the we shared with all our neighbours its the same, as every landlord on mn charges less than the going rate for their properties and everone paid their cleaner all through lockdown and gives christmas bonuses aye sure you did 😂

Believe what you want.
I can only tell you what happens in my world (and yes, I paid my cleaner too).

I'm not a landlord and I don't give Christmas bonuses though.

Napface · 09/04/2025 17:26

I literally just saw this beautiful artwork being advertised on face book 😂 please stop hanging dog poo in trees

Gulliver88 · 09/04/2025 17:28

I watched an older lady push her used poo bag into a hedge.
She frequently does it.
I'm in a town with lots of bins.
