Shein…do you use? Is it worth it?

I get quality might not be best…but i am postpartum…weight and overall look not the best at the moment and barely anything fits and if it does it shows my belly in an uncomfortable way! Cant afford a dresses which hopefully wont be needed in a few months and going to visit family in a couple of months so need something else besides bike shorts and stretchy t shirts!

has anyone used shein? Worth a try? Do they have easy returns?

No. Awful company. You can't return anything and the quality is dreadful.

AnneLovesGilbert · 05/04/2025 20:59

Use vinted instead.

endofthelinefinally · 05/04/2025 20:59

Well you can return stuff if you pay to post it to China. You won't get a refund.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 05/04/2025 20:59

Yes. I’ve got work dresses and trousers that wash really well and I wear over and over again.

I mean it probably isn't the best but the "can't return anything" is just flat out lying - have returned plenty of things

Tagyoureit · 05/04/2025 21:01

I did order some bits, 3 tops, one of which is my new favourite, and 1 dress which is very cheap material and very static so it clings to me so it doesn't drop/sit right.

I'm a 16/18 and got XL.

Maybe I am just unlucky.

Teenagerantruns · 05/04/2025 21:02

I don't but my DP does, it's a bit hit and miss but quality seems OK for what you pay, things wash well. I don't think she's ever bothered trying to return stuff though.

Karmakamelion · 05/04/2025 21:03

Some things are lovely and free returns. A lot are rubbish quality but manage to be pretty if cheap looking
Vinted you can't return even when faulty without paying postage

AlloaintheMiddle · 05/04/2025 21:03

No, never will.
Second hand website/shops are much better, you can get nice clothes for very little.
EBay, Vinted, charity shops…

MoveOnTheCards · 05/04/2025 21:06

Asos has loads of cheap options and returns are really easy too. If you buy premium for about £10 a year you get next day delivery and free returns so it pays for itself quickly.

I used it a lot after having dc as I could try stuff from various brands (their own is cheap) and return what I didn’t want pretty easily.

pinkpanther84 · 05/04/2025 21:07

You can definitly return things, for free, and the refund goes through quickly in my experience

AnxietyLevelMax · 05/04/2025 21:08

I did get few things from vinted but non of them were good fit and couldn’t return so just dont see a point to be honest..
i use vinted for kids/baby clothes as its much easier and was usually very happy but for myself? Big no.

It’s very hit or miss, fabric often cut badly or just feels weird and/or cheap in my experience. I used to get loads off there but can only remember a few things I liked/wore a lot from the masses of clothing I ordered.

The ethical side of things got harder to ignore (plus realising how much of an over consumer I was becoming of clothes because I was broke and it wasn’t pricey) so nowadays I prefer Vinted - loads of branded clothes for next to nothing, probably cheaper than SHEIN in some cases!

Inmydreams88 · 05/04/2025 21:11

It’s a gamble as some things are okay quality and most of it is terrible quality in my opinion. I’ve got some gym leggings and a dress from there but I’ve given up as it was so hit or miss. I wouldn’t buy from them again. I’d rather go to Primark.

I REALLY used to love primark when i moved to UK 17 years ago, the price was amazing, quality for the price was great in most of the cases, choice you had…was really impressed! Right now its shockingly bad and i never can find anything😕

They’re ok quality these days tbh.

they are pretty morally dubious with how they treat their workers. They’re also fast fashion which is not great for the environment. I have brought some bits from them when I’ve needed stuff and have to stick to a tight budget. I don’t use fast fashion in the wear it once or twice and Chuck it sense. I’ve kept SHEIN stuff for ages as I would anything else I buy.

JustMeHello · 05/04/2025 21:31

I'd like to have the principles and not buy from them, but as a fat person on a low income it isn't easy to find things that fit and aren't awful. And honestly, I don't think they're that much worse than Primark and those cheap shops. I've had some hits (one of my favourite ever tops is from Shein) and some misses (some very poor shirts that seem to be made out of horrible plastic material) and I've never returned anything, it seems easier just to donate to charity shops than return, but that might just be me.

Nevermindthebuzzard · 05/04/2025 21:31

It depends if you're happy to wear clothes knowing they're probably made by children who are paid a pittance.

keswickgirl · 05/04/2025 21:33

No. It’s unethical, damages the environment and the quality is bad.

Buy second hand from Vinted instead, you’ll get much nicer stuff and a clearer conscience 👌

Yes you can. Returns are piss easy. You take it to the post office and show them the qr code.

It doesn't cost you anything to return and it's back in your account inside a week. 😂 You're just chatting shit now.

The quality is good on some stuff, bad on others, it's hit and miss. Check the tags halfway down, if there's a high percentage of spandex in it, scroll on. I've had stuff from there last for years.

I’ve managed to return things absolutely no problem, have even been given a refund and told to keep items before!
quality is fine, obviously not amazing which is reflected in the price but decent enough, I think I’ve only ever had an issue with the quality of one thing.

Me too, I also find their refunds come through quicker than any other company. Returns are free too. I've had some lovely dresses and tops. Also lots of seasonal bits/decorations. Never had a problem with any orders or returns.

endofthelinefinally · 05/04/2025 21:38

Apologies everyone. I am getting old. I confused Shein with Light in the Box.
I do wonder how well these Chinese companies treat their employees though.
