M&S customers are a nuisance

I went into M&S Food today and every customer I came across was absolutely oblivious to anyone else in that store. It's like Percy Pigs over morals.

Yes, M&S is feral. I only shop in Harrods. Although I’m slightly tempted if there is an aisle dedicated to chips.

Oh no, I'm so sorry, how degrading for you! Are you still banned from Fortnum's after that ugly incident with the caviar? 😉😂

meisafairy · 28/03/2025 20:46

Couldn’t order the M&S best ever steak pie with my Ocado shop 💔😔

Whaaaat?! I've never had to queue once at a Marksies café! Plus the assistants are all like lovely kind aunties and call you "sweetheart".

It must be a postcode lottery Grin

It must! Plus I like their jacket potatoes with Cornish cheese because the salad that comes with it is lush.

I have never had that experience in M&S. Or any supermarket to be honest. Perhaps it depends on where you live.

Or how you behave yourself!

Everley · 28/03/2025 20:52

DollopOfFun · 28/03/2025 17:36

M & Who?

They are dead to me since they discontinued the syrup sponge pudding last year, the one I that I had been buying since the 1990's. DEAD.

You’re kidding?! I’ve not been able to get hold of one for a while and was hoping it was just a stock issue. My favourite sweet treat 😒

JudgeJ · 28/03/2025 20:55

Busbygirl · 28/03/2025 18:09

Oh here we go. Didn’t think it would take long. All the boomers fault no doubt!
Our M and S is rammed with young professionals at lunchtime. What a nuisance they are, clogging up the tills and being so slow 🙄🙄

And are too lazy to make a sandwich at home, preferring to buy over-priced sandwiches and coffees, then moan about the cost of living and the fact that we boomers are still breathing.

It’s always long queues at mine. I blame TikTok for making M&S matchas and pistachio butter viral (Pistachio butter is from the food hall)

Cunningfungus · 28/03/2025 17:31

Did ye, aye?

Ah. We have no such fancy bourgeois stuff at ours. That's why.

Bluevelvetsofa · 28/03/2025 21:15

SapphireSeptember · 28/03/2025 18:56

@Bluevelvetsofa where's that? Sounds a bit like Huntingdon which has Sainsbury's, M&S and Iceland right in the centre (and a B&M which is brilliant) and then Aldi and Lidl up the road, with Tesco (and another B&M) on the other side of town, although still in walking distance. I don't live there anymore and miss it. 🥺

South coast. We have Sainsbury’s and Tesco almost opposite one another, M&S Food across the road from Sainsbury’s, a two minute walk from Tesco and Aldi and Lidl on opposite sides of a roundabout and dual carriageway a couple of minutes drive away.

There’s also B&M and Home Bargains.

AgnesX · 28/03/2025 21:18

Quite agree although it doesn't help that the layout of most of the shops (here in Glasgow anyway) is atrocious.

And it's mostly women - of all ages too.

ChannelLightVessel · 28/03/2025 21:20

I’m just eating my discounted Percy Pig and his chirping chicks.

Hoppinggreen · 28/03/2025 21:24

You probably shouldn't go to ASDA OP

thankyounextplease · 28/03/2025 21:24

I tend to find that in any establishment that primarily attracts the over 60s. Our local theatres are dreadful for it. They always arrive late and push through half the row to get to their seats, repeat for the interval etc.

I went into m and s today and had a fantastic time!
Maybe it’s your area that’s rough?

A fantastic time, really?!

How awful. Imagine reaching the age of 60 and wanting to go to public places.
Boomers! Stay at home!

Hahaha this comment has made my night

I was really hoping that she had some new M& S food pairings to tell us about!

whynotwhatknot · 28/03/2025 21:48

o is this the steak and chips poster?

Iwiicit · 28/03/2025 21:52

What's all this about discontinued white mountain bars?!
I popped into my local store today to get my daughter a pink chocolate Percy Easter egg. I was informed that they are not doing anything with pink chocolate this year, nor do they have any banoffee hot cross buns. Combine all this with the discontinued black forest individual trifles and the future is looking extremely bleak.
( I'm under 60 and charm personified btw).

ZebedeeDougalFlorence · 28/03/2025 21:52

Do you remember when having an M&S in an area was a sign that it was a good place to live. If the area had an M&S that closed down it indicated that the area was going downhill.

ZebedeeDougalFlorence · 28/03/2025 22:03

I once went into a Waitrose where one of the staff members started to go absolutely doolally. She was kind of spinning around and talking gibberish. I thought she was taking the P at first until she was gently escorted from the shop floor by a colleague. Sad really. I wonder what the customer said/did to push her over the edge.

You are Alan Bennett and I claim my £200.

TY78910 · 28/03/2025 20:23

😂😂😂😂😂😂 agreed!

I don’t mind the M&S folk as there is always something to look at so I’m happy to do the same thing.

Morrisons however - that is another matter entirely. You go in to do a shop and the customers there are away with the fairies.

I never see anyone else shopping in our nearest Morrison's yet there's always queues for the checkouts and the 3 working self checkouts.

I'm really sorry to hear this, OP, because the other customers speak very highly of you.
