M&S customers are a nuisance

I went into M&S Food today and every customer I came across was absolutely oblivious to anyone else in that store. It's like Percy Pigs over morals.

Meh

soz OP

I can’t get worked up about this

Igmum · 28/03/2025 17:52

I have literally just come from my local M&S SF. It’s all fine there (didn’t know about the discount @NotEnoughRoom thanks for the tip)

What would I know? I don't eat chips so not an aisle I venture down

Oh, that's so sad! No chips??
No wonder people come across as nuisances. They are revelling in the taste, feel and fun of chips

simpledeer · 28/03/2025 17:54

It’s all charm and grace in my local.

Sahara123 · 28/03/2025 17:54

Snorlaxo · 28/03/2025 17:06

Were they were looking for steak cut chips ?

Hee hee !!

DollopOfFun · 28/03/2025 17:36

M & Who?

They are dead to me since they discontinued the syrup sponge pudding last year, the one I that I had been buying since the 1990's. DEAD.

They also stopped a rather spectacular raspberry mousse decades ago. It was my daily treat.
Bastards!

Go to Asda at Charlton SE London. It’s like Hunger Games but often people are in their pj’s.

OMG!!

Toottooot · 28/03/2025 17:08

Surely depends on the location of the Markies store?

Please don't call it Markies.

It's Marksies (pronounced Mark-zies)

Or as my DC when he was little said "Marks and Spensive" 😂

jackiesgirl · 28/03/2025 17:37

The staff are great but the queues are always massive because the customers are SO SLOW. I don’t know what it is about that shop that makes people take twice as long to unload their stuff at the till and pay

Age and the fact they’re paying with cash usually.

Fagli · 28/03/2025 18:00

Yes, M&S is feral. I only shop in Harrods. Although I’m slightly tempted if there is an aisle dedicated to chips.

That's so cute. 😆

DappledThings · 28/03/2025 18:02

Did you complain to Aidan?

Offtobuttonmoontovisitmrspoon · 28/03/2025 18:02

I went into m and s today and had a fantastic time!
Maybe it’s your area that’s rough?

thepariscrimefiles · 28/03/2025 18:03

Doingmybestbut · 28/03/2025 17:51

Agreed although I did see the lady from Glee/Only Murders in the Building in there recently so that was nice.

Jane Lynch? Which M&S was that?

Offtobuttonmoontovisitmrspoon · 28/03/2025 18:03

I wish that they would give you a job already!

Not one person I have ever known has called it ‘Marksies’ (gadz) everyone I know rightly calls it Markies.

They used to call it Marksies on the Royle Family.

clinellwipe · 28/03/2025 18:06

I find that in our local Waitrose, great staff but customers seem oblivious and on another planet.

Marks and Sparks in my part of the UK when I was a kid.

Oh here we go. Didn’t think it would take long. All the boomers fault no doubt!
Our M and S is rammed with young professionals at lunchtime. What a nuisance they are, clogging up the tills and being so slow 🙄🙄

Snorlaxo · 28/03/2025 18:14

My local M&S in mainly self service and full of people buying one meals worth of food at a time. Maybe the same one as @Busbygirl

HarperStern · 28/03/2025 18:15

Ha, my local M&S is totally like this. Full of people who have come shopping in gangs (OK couples) and stand mid-aisle blocking everyone with their trolleys taking an age to choose between mash and luxury mash.

In our case it's because the company decided to make the food hall smaller and squeeze an unnecessary cafe in. Still not over it. Will moan about it to my dying day.

"Age and the fact they’re paying with cash usually."

The elderly customers in my M and S all seem to use cards and many of them use the self check outs.

Gloriia · 28/03/2025 18:19

Totally agree op and what is about every foodhall being the size of a sainsbos local but with the crowds that go to Tesco on a Sat morning.

Why don't they open bigger shops? The clothes bit often deserted but the food hall everyone packed in like sardines 😬.
