M&S customers are a nuisance

I went into M&S Food today and every customer I came across was absolutely oblivious to anyone else in that store. It's like Percy Pigs over morals.

Ours is full of people in leather fetishwear and gimp masks looking disappointed. I think they're all dyslexic, apart from Glenda, she always dresses like that on a Friday.

Glenda is just looking for the Dine in For Two bargains, but got distracted by the noodles with lime sauce.

Cathandkin · 28/03/2025 19:47

Their new ribbed t-shirts are the business.

Which is a worry, because she lives alone with her cat Mountbatten.

pimplebum · 28/03/2025 19:48

I can only apologise , my morals which are usually quite en point go flying out the window when there’s a special on the Percy’s

I Will endeavour to do better going forward

Doesn't Mountbatten deserve a Pasta Carbonara and Raspberry Roulade? Washed down with a cheeky Chardonnay?
What that animal has to put up with.

It's Markies in Aberdeen.

It sure is - called it Markies for years when I lived there - then moved down to Wales where it's Marksies - I have to catch myself and sound like AI or a spy saying it...

Doingmybestbut · 28/03/2025 17:51

Agreed although I did see the lady from Glee/Only Murders in the Building in there recently so that was nice.

Oh, was that Jane Lynch who played Sazz Pataki in Only Murders in the Building? She also played Sophie Lennon in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, was she in the fruit aisle shouting How'd you like them apples?

Titasaducksarse · 28/03/2025 19:56

It's the couples everywhere in the food aisles. Retired couples where it's evident the woman has been in charge of food shopping all their married lives but now HE goes too. However he doesn't understand the rules of supermarket shopping so gets in the way, leaves the trolley in the way, picks up the wrong items etc thus causes chaos.

Oh and if another fecking child makes the cow 'moo' in the milk aisle I'm going to lose my shit and tell 'Philomena and Tarquin' to stop harassing the moo cow and go choose oat milk and squeeze thar instead.

Gloriia · 28/03/2025 19:57

We can only hope the Christmas passonfruit log continues for years to come I couldn't go back to trifle now.

OlivePeer · 28/03/2025 19:59

Actually I agree - I notice people in the way, oblivious to other customers, no attempt at being efficient, etc., far more regularly in M&S than other supermarkets. This is in multiple branches in different parts of the country. No idea why!

Cathandkin · 28/03/2025 20:00

I've not come across that at all.

imsosotired · 28/03/2025 20:02

They’re all so slow in our local m&s.

LemonadeSunshine · 28/03/2025 20:02

I think it's partly the design of the Food halls. Our newly opened one has narrow aisles in all the cold sections, so people are constantly jostling for space, working around trolleys and people. The main crossways aisle is also fairly narrow. I enjoy some specific M&S foods but the shopping experience saves me a fortune as I don't go as often as I would if it were more spacious!!

It's because the foodhalls are all too small. Their planners need to pop to Tesco etc and measure their aisles for some tips going forward.

Gloriia · 28/03/2025 20:04

Don't get me started on their cafes with 2hr queues.

FullOfLemons · 28/03/2025 20:04

I think you just need a broader perspective on things

A trip to the Waitrose in Canary Wharf will set you straight

The people in there are feral. It’s like something out of mad max

Interesting! I wonder why they've made that decision. Just imagining how great a "big supermarket" sized M&S Foodhall would be!

Cardiff has a pretty big one now

TorroFerney · 28/03/2025 20:13

I worked at one in the 90's in the North as a job between jobs, helped an older chap to the car with his shopping, it was a Rolls Royce - he gave me a pound.

DollopOfFun · 28/03/2025 17:36

M & Who?

They are dead to me since they discontinued the syrup sponge pudding last year, the one I that I had been buying since the 1990's. DEAD.

I should abandon them too for discontinuing their summer fruits jam and their pecan peanut butter. To add insult to injury they have discontinued their big white mountain chocolate bars. The thin ones just don't have the same crunchiness.

They really should give a 6 month warning.on these things so we can bulk buy before d day or at.least petition so they can stay. 😢

Firenzeflower · 28/03/2025 17:43

Go to Asda at Charlton SE London. It’s like Hunger Games but often people are in their pj’s.

😂😂😂😂😂😂 agreed!

I don’t mind the M&S folk as there is always something to look at so I’m happy to do the same thing.

Morrisons however - that is another matter entirely. You go in to do a shop and the customers there are away with the fairies.

Yes. I can't believe their cherry whips were only for Valentines day and their black forest bites only for Christmas Shock. Their routine chocolate selection is a bit lacking imo.

Whaaaat?! I've never had to queue once at a Marksies café! Plus the assistants are all like lovely kind aunties and call you "sweetheart".

You forgot the vape shops. At least in Causton...

I'd put them in the money laundering category. Few ever seem to have any customers at all.
