How much have you got left in your current account? If payday is Monday? I think I’m doing quite well with 141.36 šŸ˜…
Single parent trying hard to save more so I’m thrilled šŸ™ŒšŸ™Œ

Ā£19.53 šŸ˜€

Pay day is 26th/Wednesday I have 82.33 in personal account. 119.62 in the joint account. Just checked. Council tax bill came in yesterday and that hassle restarts in April. Its now 290+/month. Sometimes feels like bill paying is all we do with our money.

Toomuchlemonade · 22/03/2025 09:43

Ā£18! Although I do have savings and usually end up using that!

TartanMammy · 22/03/2025 09:46

Payday was yesterday for me and I've got about £80 left (after transferring what need kept aside for bills) so I think your doing amazing!

Cam1981 · 22/03/2025 09:48

Payday is Tuesday but we get child benefit Monday. I have £187 but we are travelling to see friends today and staying in a hotel overnight ( which is already paid for ) so that amount will go down considerably today.

A few quid more than I had on this date last month and a few quid less than I'll have on this date next month.
I try to increase my current account each month when possible.
Obviously I know that'd fortunate and believe me there are months when that's not the case.

I do this too, I'm trying to get to £1000 at the end of the month.

I'm not there yet, I've got £1171.36 but have about £300 of bills to come out still. It helped that I don't pay council tax in Feb/March, so probably a few months left to go to reach my target 😪 No idea what I'll do with it when I get there though (probably blow it as a well done).

Barney16 · 22/03/2025 10:04

Payday next Friday and have £240 left. But, car due MOT so I'm not rushing out to JL.

Pay next Friday. 135 for the next ocado shop and 8 pounds for me

SockFluffInTheBath · 22/03/2025 10:08

My payday is next Friday. Did the weekly shop this morning so enough left now for our last 2 DDs and then not a lot more.

Been a heavy month though, both DC’s birthdays, had a weekend away, and got my hair done. Can’t spend it twice, unfortunately!

Barleysugar86 · 22/03/2025 10:10

£271. But I was expecting a minimum payment to my credit card to go out of around £200 so not as good as it seems!

offmynut · 22/03/2025 10:11

Do you just let it build in your current? Or did you only spend 300 this month? I would have to transfer to savings

payday Monday yippee for me! - managed to save £150! But have lent it to my sister until next week - when she gets paid! Oh well

Birdseyetrifle · 22/03/2025 10:16

My payday is a week Monday and I have Ā£145 and a single parent. I only need to buy veg and milk though so it’s okay, I think šŸ˜‚

Annoyingly my payday seems to be whenever they like - anywhere between 21st and 25th for the last few months.
I have about £12 in my account. Luckily nothing on this weekend.
Why do companies wait over weekends to pay when other companies can take payments out over weekends, does anyone know?

No companies can take money out (direct debits) on a weekend.

Card payments (and any bills set up on a recurring card payment) can be taken any time.

Wages being made by a manual payment can be made at any time. Wages being made in bulk on a bulk payment run through the bank will always be on a working day.

Anonymouskitty · 22/03/2025 10:17

As of today we have £6526.57 in our current account. We do try to save hard but I've just ended my maternity leave so now forking out for x2 sets of childcare bills, so we'll probably have to dip into this until September 2025 when they both have full funding.

Fleetheart · 22/03/2025 10:17

Payday Tuesday -Ā£44.38. Lots going out on Tuesday of course!

Sunshineandrainbow · 22/03/2025 10:20

Pay day is Tuesday for my evening job and I have 36.67 in my account.
Full time job pay day is 31st.

I wouldn't make it through the month without my evening job and I am so glad I get paid that the week before my main job!

moanafan · 22/03/2025 10:22

About Ā£80. But I was supposed to put Ā£200 into paying off our summer holiday which didn’t happen so going to have to claw that back next month. I did have slightly more but my 2yo currently has chicken pox so I bought her a couple of treats and a new toy to cheer her up!

EmeraldShamrock000 · 22/03/2025 10:22

The cost of living as exploded, saving is a luxury.

It takes years away from the quality of life worrying about financial issues, many sleepless nights, and stretching food.

I hope things improve.

Payday is Friday, the penultimate working day of the month. Means I'm always having to figure out when I'll actually be paid!

I have about £500 after spending £100 on kids clothing and house bits and a top up shop yesterday.

Are you always paid on last but one?

PickledElectricity · 22/03/2025 10:32

Are you always paid on last but one?

Yes, at this company. Except Christmas, I think they do it 21st?

My partner is paid on a set day (26th) every month.
